The fact that it has that big of a delay I rather use Robinhood. ### 3/5 — Buy/sell calls/selling a put *2026-05-16* I have found 3x now where I have placed orders but ended up in reverse..I lost enough moneys on reversing these trades..also I do not like that after I place buying a call an submit order which throws Bach to a buy..if u are doing many when u are doing trades in is harmful that u may not remember or u wonder did I do this right so you go back to get orders to see if the play was accepted the way you thought you did…WHY ? Why can the icon of buy /sell be empty then you would be doing ur new trade the way u wanted from the start as to planting seeds on the customer as to did i ? Try it ur self an do 6-9plays one after another…but than again I am 85 they tell me an you ? But I am sure you have a lot of elder that fell the same when there is choices an this choice should be ours an mine in this case.. ### 2/5 — want to like it *2026-05-14, version 5.13* it has some serious rendering issues with the charts. i actually lost money because ibeas so distracted trying to figure out if it was displaying correctly. seems to have to do with when you leave the app in the background on the chart screen then return later it doesn't properly fill in the gaps, and at market close the auction volume just climbs to infinity. very strange. i like the interface but the charting is not reliable, its still my fault ultimately but i wont risk using it until it's fixed. ### 2/5 — ui needs improving *2026-05-06, version 5.12.1* let us change the color of the volume underlay, too much green and red. and why does the volume subgraph have green and red jerkiness outlines regardless of what color you pick. it also logs out too frequently when multi tasking. it needs better app credentials cache behavior (one of their main competitors handles this much better) ### 3/5 — Notifications stopped working *2026-04-03, version 5.12.1* Notifications sometimes work and sometimes don’t. ### 2/5 — App Unreliable *2026-03-20* I’ve used this app for a few years and recently it’s become unreliable. The charts stop loading or I can’t login at all. When I call eTrade they recommend uninstalling and reinstalling app. I should not have to do that, especially since some of the trades I need to make may be time sensitive. At one point the price on the charts didn’t match the current price. They were at first denying it was an issue on their end and trying to “train me” on using the app. I had to get transferred around to multiple people before finally getting to an IT person who acknowledged it was an issue they were working on resolving. They knew this was an issue, yet didn’t feel the need to notify their account holders of this. The chart studies periodically disappear. You have to close and reopen the app, or remove the studies and re-add them in. The desktop site has also been having some issues lately. It freezes, charts won’t load, etc. I have accounts with two other brokers and don’t have these issues. I am about to ready to move my account elsewhere, because their technology is just becoming unreliable. Not to mention they don’t pay interest on cash collateral and their screeners are somewhat limited. There are better brokers out there. ### 1/5 — 5.1 *2026-02-23, version 5.10* Chart data won’t display until midday for anything. Absolute joke. I bet they started coding with AI. Developers don’t seem to care about doing patch work on updates to fix these issues. My 1 minute charts haven't worked in weeks and all support says is it was a bug and it's been fixed. Well it hasn't. This is NOT for serious traders on the go. ### 2/5 — No ability to import drawings (Trade Levels) *2026-02-02, version 5.9.1* Power E*Trade Mobile trading app does not provide the feature to import drawings from desktop app. Therefore trade levels are not visible. Be it a chart or just the account view. ### 1/5 — It needs IOS 17 *2026-01-29, version 5.6.1* My iPhone 8 can’t be upgraded to IOS17, so I am out of luck with this app. ### 2/5 — Useless app for serious traders *2025-11-23, version 5.7.1* I’ve been using this app for sometime now so I know what I am talking about. 1. The app can crash at any time without any reasons forcing you to login again which can take anywhere between 15-25 seconds before you can reach the trade page again. This is very frustrating when it happens 10 times a day in a volatile market. 2. The app does not display the updated position 30-40 seconds after the trade is executed which creates confusion on a high volume market day 3. If you want to modify the price of your trade, be ready to spend anywhere between 15-20 seconds waiting for the modification panel to open up. Good luck when the markets are volatile and you either want to book profits or minimize losses 4. Even after entering the modified price, it takes 2-3 seconds to send your new order which again, on a high volume day can lead to unwanted losses or preventing your order from being executed all together which going to point #3 can lead to more losses or reduced profits 5. The app is very glitchy and can freeze at any time specially during important events and will force you to kill the app which leads to point #1 6. On 19th July 2024, the Dow mini rate was stuck at 40557 while the mini was fluctuating and for a long time, no trade could be executed in mini since the rate was not changing 7. There have been couple of times where you can’t even log into the portal to trade. It keeps of timing out 8. Sometimes they will not confirm if the order is cancelled or not. It keeps showing pending cancellation and you have no idea what is going on. You call their customer care and there is a 30-40 mins delay The app has serious problems some of which are not even listed above as they are hard to explain. If you are a serious trader who works in indexes, DO NOT USE this app. It may be fine for users trading in stocks or who do it causally. Not using this app will prevent you from getting very frustrated and loosing money because of any of the points listed above. I am giving this app a 1 star rating because an app that takes decent commission and margins shouldn’t be this buggy especially when the money is involved. Apps like these should run smoothly and have a very low response time. Save yourself time, money and irritation and do not use this app if you are looking for a platform to trade multiple times a day. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not user friendly *2026-08-21, version 5.16.1* The E*Trade platform has literally gotten worse and worse to use over the past 5-6 years. Not a fan at all. ### 1/5 — Not good for trading *2026-08-05, version 5.15.4* Recently I’ll be in the middle of a trade, the app will show green gains, my balance will reflect those gains and the charts will look in my favor. But when I close the trade the same number that was green turns red. It was negative but the app wrongly showed it as a positive gain. This has ruined many a trade for me and has lost me money. I do not recommend using this app for trading on the go. ### 1/5 — complete waste!! sales rep say use the web page 🤡 *2026-06-02, version 5.14* cannot do even the simplest things with it!!! Try to review and maintain your watch list with 30 positions, see fundamentals… it plain cannot do it! given that this is a remake of their legacy app, it is full BS unfit for the purpose. Wonder what corp folks spent time and money building it. Back to web and sometimes the old app (that one is 2*). Not sure if it has anything to do with Morgan Stanley or not, but it is super disappointing. ### 1/5 — Even charting is painful *2026-03-13, version 5.11* You know how most brokerage apps, including the basic E*TRADE app, allow a single click to open the chart? This does not work in this version of the app. The only way I found open a chart is either to search the ticker manually each time or open the statistics on a holding, then navigate to the bottom of the screen and click the chart button. But even for SCHD it doesn’t show dividend dates. Schwab’s app does. So I’m moving everything away. It’s silly that such basic features are missing and when I called today, the rep had no clue how to use it. He kept me on hold for 20 minutes and came back and said he didn’t know. RIP E*Trade Pro ### 1/5 — 5G Reception Overseas But a -5 In Power E*TRADE App Functionality *2026-02-24, version 5.10* With 5-bar 5G service overseas in the EU, the Power E*Trade platform consistently stalled and crashed and gave a sub-par score of -5 in terms of both UX and UI. If $MS is going to move all clients to this new trading platform, it absolutely HAS to ensure consistent functionality in 5G environments, and 5+ trading days overseas reflects that this is not yet remotely close to happening. I’ve bought stocks using this app. It’s super simple. You know exactly how much cash on hand you have in your account. You know exactly how much you paid for your stocks and what they’re worth now. It is truly a complete look at your portfolio. one of the best apps I’ve ever used. ### 5/5 — One of the best *2025-09-02, version 5.6.1* Needs indicators added to charts such as TTM SQUEEZE by John Carter and various other indicators necessary to simplify trading. THINKORSWIM getting way crazy with user interface. This with a simplistic approach can put Schwab in the dirt. Let’s get it on Morgan Stanley. ### 5/5 — Request Color Code Credit/Debit *2025-06-12, version 5.4* Too many times now I have mistakenly submitted a trade with Debit selected rather than Credit. This often happens when going back and forth between the option tables and the trade screen. When starting with Buy Option the screen selects Debit, and later adding a Sell Option, custom spread in time, the controls not always update to Credit as it should, and Iv ended up with upside down trades instantly loosing thousands on a trade due to the Debit/Credit toggle. On occasion when it fails to properly update itself, same as occasional price does not update when new trade row is added, I overlook it, occupied by updating the prices, not seeing the mistake until after it is too late. This is extremely costly when far options with large ask gap. Fault is my own, inattentiveness, but it would really help to see the Debit/Credit stand out on the page, Bold and in Color, same as the loss/gain prices, to intuitively know the type while focusing on the positions and prices. ### 5/5 — Great app and service. *2025-02-13, version 5.2.11* Excellent app for investing and trading. I prefer the options views in this app compared to others that I have used in the past. ### 5/5 — I use this app daily and love it *2024-11-25* At first, I was deciding whether to just keep using the basic E*Trade app, or this one. If you rarely trade, or just have a buy and hold strategy, the basic is ok. However, I trade more actively and appreciate that this app offers more features than the basic version (like advanced charting features), and the ability to easily view current futures contracts in real time. I keep the basic app “just in case”, but this is the app I use daily.
