### 4/5 — It lost all my achievments

*2026-03-15, version 2.6.0*

Very annoying. No point having achievements if they disappear!

### 2/5 — Endless Bugs

*2026-01-29, version 2.6.0*

- Refactor the movable mini-window UI or replace it. It's just too buggy and requires a force restart every game.
- Automatic next action "clipboard" is a nice idea but constantly changing windows turns out to be much more work than a fixed UI would be. More efficient to move one map instead of 4 little windows that reappear in different spots every round.
- BeNeLux 5th ecoplant "extended market" doesn't work
- Blocks PiP and Music player

### 2/5 — Fun but frustrating

*2025-11-23, version 2.6.0*

Implementation of the game is excellent. The user interface is a bit cumbersome and initially is difficult to understand, but after a few games you will get the hang of it. The game will frequently crash when trying to start a game and usually takes a few resets to get started on a local game. The option to save a game exists, but after leaving A game I can’t return to it as the game forgets the players? Causes it to not open the saved game.

Good game when it works. Not worth the purchase in its current state.

### 3/5 — Confusing Interface limits the joy

*2025-01-24, version 1.5.1*

Have played the actual boardgame many times with friends and if I hadn’t, I don’t think I would have grasped the game in the App version. The UI is poor and has no tutorial mode. So first few games I lost turns just cause I couldn’t not figure out how to operate it. Got over that now, but the AI is buggy (sometimes buildings are not visible, sometimes you can’t see the Powerplants and have to just click into the void and hope…) and thus robs the fun you could have had. In its current form, I can only recommend it if you know the boardgame and can’t find people to play with as often as you want.

### 2/5 — Interface is painful

*2024-12-23, version 1.5.1*

I wish I had tried this out before the refund window closed. The interface makes this painful and frustrating to play. I love the board game but this is a poor implementation of it.

### 3/5 — Tricheur

*2024-12-02, version 1.5.1*

### 2/5 — Fatal bug

*2024-12-01, version 1.5.1*

Experienced PG board gamer here with over 30 plays or so under my belt. I think the interface was well done after adjusting to it.

Family played an entire run through yesterday without issue.

Today, can’t get past the first auction sequence. First player can successfully list but no subsequent players can overbid.

Is this typical? We’ll be heartbroken to find the app version of this boardgame only
To have it unplayable.

### 2/5 — Too many bugs at moment

*2024-11-30, version 1.5.1*

* Has separate save system needing email and new password. No iCloud syncing. And doesn’t support syncing of save games or profile pic between devices.
* Info board scaling and drag broken

Clunky interface with obvious issues for a year old game ☹️

### 2/5 — A fragile UI

*2024-11-20, version 1.5.1*

An unstable UI means if you check one piece of info, like the resource market, you can loose the map display, and not recover it. This is still a work in progress, but unplayable at present.

### 3/5 — Needs bugs fixed

*2024-05-06, version 1.5*

I really want to give this app five stars because Power Grid is one of the best board games out there. However, there’s alot of bugs that need to be worked out.

First and foremost, you can’t resume a saved local game. Like at all. The option just isn’t there. So you have to play all the way through or forget about it.

Same with editing your local profile. Whatever name you choose at first creation you’re stick with.

It’ll crash randomly on starting a game sometimes, but that’s not the end of the world

Of course, there’s alot more maps that need to be included but I’m sure that will come down the road. I hope.

The interface is a bit unintuitive to start but I got used to it after a while.

So overall, a decent app with great source material that needs to get the bugs ironed out.

### 4/5 — Pretty good app

*2024-05-01, version 1.5*

Some glitches at times. AI players do funny things sometimes.

### 3/5 — Gelungene Umsetzung

*2024-02-16*

Sieben oben. Leider wird meist das Fenster für die Kraftwerksversteigerung nicht angezeigt. Das Spiel zu verlassen und wieder zu betreten löst das Problem. Aber ist nervig.

### 2/5 — Superlatively disappointing

*2024-01-04, version 1.3*

I have hundreds of board games, and have loved this game in print for years. Waiting for this utter disappointment is confusing. I hope it updates to something coming close to playable, but since they already have my money, I doubt this will happen.

Non-intuitive interface, lack of guidance on how to use the app (let alone a useful tutorial on the game itself), and middling graphics … well, at least it’s expensive.

I look forward to being able to upgrade this score, but am not optimistic. This could be a stellar title, though … the source material is excellent!

### 4/5 — Bugs are fixed.

*2024-01-03, version 1.3*

So far I’m really liking this. I came in as an experienced Powergrid player. I can’t tell you how someone new to the game would fare….but veterans should like it.

Stable. Good AI. True to the game. One of the better Board Game ports. The interface seemed dreadful at first but after a couple games I’m accustomed.

Playing a full 6 player game of Powergrid in 30 minutes sure feels odd though. I get to try a ton of crazy strategies though!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor user experience

*2026-02-22, version 2.6.0*

Game function is poor. Cannot build houses. The game cards are difficult to recall when minimized.

### 1/5 — Worst UI Implementation

*2025-06-26, version 1.5.1*

The “windowed” UI is probably the worst user interface I’ve encountered in an iOS app. It might function better on a desktop but I find even that hard to believe. Every choice made is counterintuitive to the degree that I wonder if this game is some sort of artistic statement or performance art or an intentional choice made to spite Friedman Friese.

### 1/5 — UI broken to be unplayable

*2025-04-04, version 1.5.1*

Completely confusing buttons. Unresponsive menus and interface. Looks worse than an 80s dos game. Does not progress, move the game along, explain any aspect of any rule.

A terrible experience not worth anything near the price of the app, and would not even be worth the time investment if free.

Look elsewhere for your boardgame kicks.

### 1/5 — Power Grid Boardgame

*2025-03-14*

Terrible implementation. It’s like developers haven’t seen or used an iPad ever.

### 1/5 — Game doesn’t work

*2024-12-25, version 1.5.1*

Crashes as soon as you press start. Reload, press start again, it starts. But then, when you select a city, it won’t confirm your city choice. Can’t progress beyond.

Basically they stole $8.99 from me.

### 1/5 — Has a tutorial, but I'm still befuddled

*2024-12-15, version 1.5.1*

The interface appears to be top rate, but I can't get past the first few turns. Seems poorly designed. I bought this months ago, and waited for the updates, but I still can't get going with it.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2024-11-24, version 1.5.1*

Does not work properly

### 1/5 — Have yet to finish an on-line game

*2024-08-10, version 1.5*

This is such a great game, but so poorly executed. I’ve tried to play 3 on-line games - we get to phase III and it ALWAYS crashes a few turns into phase III. I’m on an apple device and my son-in-law is on android - not sure if that’s the problem? So frustrating - get this fixed and I’ll adjust my rating but right now it’s a 1 star - it’s like your playing the board game and a 3 year old comes and tips the board game over! NOOOOO!

### 1/5 — Worst designed app I’ve ever used

*2024-06-09, version 1.5*

So buggy. Terrible interface. Doesn’t work half the time and it’s so hard to navigate and understand. Total waste of money.

Much easier and less frustrating to play the actual game in real life than to waste time and money on this piece of garbage app.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2023-12-25, version 1.3*

Gameplay is absolutely awful.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Working Great and Nice Implementation

*2026-01-26*

The movable mini window UI takes a second to get used to, but once you have it arranged where you like the implementation is great and flows well. Recommended.

### 5/5 — GOSTEI MUITO

*2026-01-13*

GOSTEI MUITO

### 5/5 — I love it!

*2024-12-21, version 1.5.1*

Tons of maps included. Different AI levels. Online play. It is exactly true to the board game but plays much faster. GUI that you arrange and control. Love it. Was worried I wouldn’t like it from the overly picky reviews, but I would choose this over paying for the actual board game (which I also own though no one wants to spend two hours playing) every day. Well done! Kraft were inspired music is brilliant too!

### 5/5 — It’s quite buggy, online doesn’t seem to work very well, but it’s power grid !

*2024-08-03, version 1.5*

I’ve not yet made it through an online game as it really seems unstable, but once you get used to the quirky user interface it’s quick to play a single player game against AI and it’s just great to be able to play Power Grid, one of the all time greats ⭐️ I hope the developers care about this game and continue to improve it

### 5/5 — Nice App

*2024-05-25, version 1.5*

I’ve been enjoying the app and haven’t had any issues

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2024-02-26, version 1.3*

Never have I seen a power grid game go so fast! Took me a little bit to get used to the interface, but now games go fast and smooth. Very fun. I imagine it might be tough for someone that doesn’t already understand the gameplay… but if you play the physical game… this is a fun addition to play remotely with friends.

### 5/5 — Absolutely great!!

*2023-12-25, version 1.3*

This is an absolutely great app of one of my favourite board games. The physical game is hard to get to the table with the full player count.

### 5/5 — Finally! Board game lovers rejoice

*2023-12-19, version 1.2*

There is so much to learn from the game of Power Grid. If you’ve never played before, you’ll either have a blast or a giant headache.

There are a lot of parts to this game and the team at Brettspielwelt was capable of translating all that information onto a tiny screen. Yes, the UI can get cluttered at times but I invite everyone to take some time to find a layout that works for you. The developers were kind enough to give us players the freedom to do what we choose with the information we want while ignoring the stuff we don’t, we should be thankful for that.

If you have played Power Grid before, the mobile-version makes it even easier to play. With a much easier setup, auctions, a building calculator, resource replenishments, and all the rules involved with the power plant stack flawlessly executed in the code, you can focus on your strategy and less on maintaining the game’s state. This makes the gameplay flow effortlessly. For my household, what was a 3-4 hour game has turned into a 30 minute heist to become the most “power”-ful mogul. (Plus that extra time gives us the opportunity to play more iterations and frequently)

### 5/5 — Stable and good

*2023-12-10, version 1.2*

I bought and downloaded this 2023/12/9. It has been impeccable stable and I recommend it to people like me who think Powergrid could be a fun game but have trouble getting a game together.

The GUI is a little non-standard (comments about this make sense), but I found it intuitive and useful. Trying to fit all of
Powergrid on an iPad screen is a challenge and I appreciate it being addressed.
