### 3/5 — App needs work GREAT concept

*2026-08-24, version 3.27.1*

App has improved, but it closed when I earn a gift card. Dunno where that went or how to redeem it.
Great content and opportunities for rewards and friendly competition.

Resolved complaints show improvement: click on videos. Also username and password didn’t save. But now they do. Thanks.

### 2/5 — I’ve watched glaciers move faster than this app.

*2026-08-20, version 3.27.0*

I don’t think I’ve ever used an app that refreshes or freezes as much as this thing.

### 4/5 — Awesome

*2026-08-07, version 3.26.0*

Helps me keep myself active and reach my health goals in a systematic way. Great motivation for being healthy

### 2/5 — Flaws, bugs and so many issues!

*2026-07-02, version 3.25.2*

When will you fix the issues that continue to exist with this app? Today is July 1 and the app is recording data as July 2. All my activity check-ins for June 28 and 29 reported as June 30. In turn, making me lose out on 60 points. There’s always weird issues like this the cause the reporting and point rewards to be incorrect. It takes a help desk member over a week to respond to inquiries and when they do, they act like the user and the user’s device are the problem. No - your terrible app is the problem.

### 4/5 — Good in theory, but glitchy

*2026-06-23, version 3.25.2*

Update: The latest update seems to have fixed the issue with the heart rate data detection.

I use this app regularly and it does an okay job, but it isn’t intuitive to use and so it takes a little bit of time to figure out how to use it. It’s also inconsistent in recording my workouts. There have been multiple times that I’ve exceeded the needed amount of active calories and/or exceeded the amount of time needed at 60% max heart rate and didn’t receive credit for my workout.

### 1/5 — Still Terrible

*2026-06-16, version 3.25.0*

One on the worst apps. My employer uses it for our wellness program. It won’t stay sync’d with my device any don’t transfer data properly.

Truly terrible.

### 2/5 — Limited connection options

*2026-06-13, version 3.25.0*

This app doesn’t connect to an Apple iwatch/fitness app. So I’m doing 20,30,45 minute activities and get no credit for it. Definitely disappointing and unmotivating. Please fix!

### 1/5 — Heart rate tracking no longer works with recent update!

*2026-06-13, version 3.25.0*

I’ve been using the Vitality app for years to track my workouts and earn wellness incentives from my employer. However, I’ve encountered a significant issue with the app’s syncing of workout data after a recent update.

Historically, I earned 10 points for sustaining 60% of my maximum heart rate for 30 minutes and 15 points for 45 minutes. However, the recent update seems to have abandoned heart rate tracking and now only recognizes active calories and step count. Despite tracking all my workouts on my Apple Watch and syncing all my data through the health app, the app fails to accurately recognize my sustained heart rate.

The consequence of this issue is that if my workouts don’t meet the threshold for active calories or steps but do meet the threshold for sustained heart rate, the app downgrades the points it awards based on active calories or steps. As a result, most of my workouts that used to qualify for 10 or 15 points now only award 5 points for a light workout or 10 points for a standard workout.

For instance, I completed a 45-minute workout with a sustained heart rate well over 60% of my maximum heart rate. I should have been awarded 15 points, but the app only awarded me 10 points based on the amount of active calories burned. Similarly, I also completed another 30-minute workout with a sustained heart rate well over 60% of my maximum heart rate. I should have been awarded 10 points, but the app only awarded me 5 points.

This issue has been going on since one of the recent updates about a month ago and will make it much more difficult for me to qualify for my employers wellness credit. Please fix the bug to read sustained heart rate properly again.

### 1/5 — Terribly glitchy

*2026-06-12, version 3.25.0*

This app is terrible. Constantly glitches, won’t load, hard to navigate. The old one was better, this one is really awful.

### 3/5 — Good in theory, but glitchy

*2026-06-10, version 3.25.0*

I use this app regularly and it does an okay job, but it isn’t intuitive to use and so it takes a little bit of time to figure out how to use it. It’s also inconsistent in recording my workouts. There have been multiple times that I’ve exceeded the needed amount of active calories and/or exceeded the amount of time needed at 60% max heart rate and didn’t receive credit for my workout.

### 1/5 — Really inconsistent syncing

*2026-06-09, version 3.25.0*

There are good things about this app. I like how it provides opportunities for accomplishing small goals and tasks. I like the education-focused take it brings to health. I like that it encourages preventative health measures.

Unfortunately, it can never get above a 3 star in my opinion because of how poor and inconsistent its activity syncing is.

Frequently, I will work out and never receive the points. This can be very frustrating as I am always looking for a certain number of points per month to pay for the device provided through the program. Since I don’t have time to workout every day- every workout is important to accomplish this goal. When it doesn’t sync it literally can cost me money.

Also, it’s incredibly frustrating that it doesn’t take into account total number of minutes worked out during a day. Studies show that smaller workouts each day can be just as effective as one long one. However, I could get 80 total exercise minutes in 10 or 20 minute sessions, and not get ANY points simply because it’s not one total workout. (Not that it would matter, since the time spent work g out probably wouldn’t sync anyway).

The gist is- I shouldn’t have to delete, reload and resync this app 2-3 times each month just to get it to do what it purports to do in the first place. There should be a confidence that my workouts will always count.

### 1/5 — Pin

*2026-06-05, version 3.25.0*

It won’t take my pin. Tells me it’s not correct and I have yet to be able to log into the app. Support is no help

### 1/5 — Zero help

*2026-06-04, version 3.25.0*

Help desk is no help at all. Try unloading and reloading. No kidding, doesn’t fix, no follow up, no way to continue to get help. What a joke!

### 4/5 — Doesn’t work half the time

*2026-06-04, version 3.25.0*

Half of the time it only gives me points for one or two out of my five to six workouts for the week.

### 2/5 — Poor app syncing

*2026-06-03, version 3.25.0*

App no longer syncs with MapMyFitness. Doesn’t consistently award workout points from Apple’s Health app in the same way it did with MapMyFitness.

### 2/5 — App not working

*2026-05-28, version 3.25.0*

Great but for the last two months the app won’t let me in.

### 1/5 — Wish it worked better

*2026-05-20, version 3.24.1*

Try to log in workouts for the challenges and it keeps spinning and spinning and spinning. Then I get an error message and it says try again. Tried that strategy 3 times with the same error message. Updates for points are very slow. Old app was much better!

### 2/5 — Why do I have to fully login every single time

*2026-05-19, version 3.24.1*

Nearly every single app I use has the ability to store my login info. Not this one. Not at all. I have to get a code sent to my work email every single time I try to login. Not worth the effort will be deleting the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Satan has an app

*2026-08-24, version 3.27.1*

If I could give negative five stars, I would. I imagine that the parents of these developers pretend that their kids joined the peace corps and moved away. No respectable developer would associate themselves to this app. There has been ZERO positive gains for years despite user feedback. Unfortunately, Aetna forces us to use this garbage. Shame on Aetna, shame on the developers, and shame on the parents of the developers since you neglected to instill common sense and proper work ethic into these knobs.

### 1/5 — Data mining & bad rewards

*2026-08-23, version 3.27.1*

This app is just being pushed to workers to data mine them. The “rewards” take so much effort to even be considered ok for the data mining. Stay away from

### 1/5 — Often doesn’t function as intended

*2026-08-17, version 3.27.0*

Certain things in the app, such as the weekly exercise points progress, won’t appear unless you reload it. Also, suddenly not allowing me to submit a biometric screening for points. Finally, don’t have the same options for the rewards mall as my partner (much less than them).

Just all around janky and seems unfinished

### 1/5 — Poor performance

*2026-08-09, version 3.26.0*

This app is terrible. It doesn’t allow me to upload files to show proof of services. It consistently says files must be under 4MB. My files are 3.5MB and they get rejected. The points accrue, then disappear, only to appear again weeks later. My employer rewards are based on completing specific tasks within specific timeframes , and the tasks don’t show up when completed. The app is clumsy and needs improvement.

### 1/5 — Never opens

*2026-08-06, version 3.26.0*

Works fine via web browser but defeats the purpose of an app when the app says “this page is taking a snooze”

Garbage

### 1/5 — Trouble syncing data from fitbit to this app

*2026-07-02, version 3.25.2*

It would be great if my device health data is synced correctly with this app.

### 1/5 — No automatic activity tracking

*2026-06-30, version 3.25.2*

This app has been a constant source of frustration because it will not track your exercise heart rate for credit unless you first tell your device you’re doing an exercise. I’ve racked up 100+ minutes of 60% of my max rate for a consistent 45+ minutes and the Power of Vitality app won’t credit me unless I first tell my tracker “hey, we’re going to exercise now.” What good is that? I’ve given you my data and successfully set up the synch with my fitness tracker, but the app isn’t smart enough to figure out that I’ve been busting my butt. So I’ve relented, make sure to set it to “aerobics” because it doesn’t matter and that’s conveniently first in my tracker’s choices, and then do my walking, landscaping, or whatever else is going to get my heart rate up and keep it there. But I can do that without this app, and was doing that before all this, so the app serves no useful purpose to me other than to get the employer HSA contributions I rightfully earned with my sweat and pain and doctor visits.

### 1/5 — Still junk

*2026-06-20, version 3.25.0*

As many others stated, this app still doesn’t track properly. You can hit all the steps or cardiac targets, about ready to go to the ER because you’ve worked out so hard, and boom, you get 5 or maybe 10 points. It’s always had bugs, but they increased about the time they started that weekly spin game. As I wrote in other reviews, it’s a shame that our employer requires we use this for a discount on insurance premiums. Most coworkers just try to hit the minimum and stop using it after that. I’ve spent time for years working with the developers and it’s such a waste of time. They don’t bother testing the changes that they implement, and they give the same canned response when you contact them or write a review. For employers considering the app, don’t. It’s junk.

### 1/5 — It’s terrible

*2026-06-17, version 3.25.0*

I hate this app

### 1/5 — Some health data not syncing

*2026-06-16, version 3.25.0*

The app doesn’t seem to accurately sync heart rate data anymore. As other recent reviews have noted, a 15 pt workout (45 min at 60% heart rate) now only counts for 10 (if at all). This then affects the monthly Apple Watch payment as well as other employer incentives. At first, Customer Service let me submit screenshots of the data from my phone and they manually adjusted the points. Now that isn’t even an option and they tell me to just be patient. It’s a great program but the weak link at the moment seems to be the app.
