When they connect, they connect good, but one or the other will disconnect while I’m watching the usage. I have FOUR new Deco wifi mesh extenders covering my 100’x120’ lot. Cameras and wifi switches stay connected, but these have the absolute WORST time at STAYING connected! ### 2/5 — Needs help - especially password reset *2025-06-16, version 1.0.13* The Power Watchdog WiFi app is clunky and frustrating to use. After a short break, I was forced to log in again—but it doesn’t work with password managers, so my credentials were never saved. The password reset process was even worse: I was given just 60 seconds to receive an email, enter a code, and input a new password twice—an unrealistic window if your email is slow to sync. If I’d been off-grid, I would’ve been completely locked out, which defeats the purpose of a travel-friendly device. On top of that, the app looks like it’s from the ’90s and is hard to even find in the app store—there are multiple “Power Watchdog” apps. Hire a designer, fix the off-grid failure mode, and consolidate your apps! ### 1/5 — Wifi is not working maybe defective? *2024-11-24, version 1.0.9* My unit connects fine for a week and then suddenly stops with the wifi. Very annoying when i bought this for wifi festures (gen 2) ### 1/5 — Worse that the gen 1 app. *2024-09-30, version 1.0.8* This gen 2 WiFi doesn’t notify me when it looses power even when it hasn’t signed me out. It is constantly signing me out. I emailed them about a question that I had and have yet to be contacted. I would not suggest this to anyone unless they get the bugs worked out. ### 1/5 — Scam App? *2024-06-23, version 1.0.6* Is this some sort of a scam? Logged out constantly, won’t connect. What it is good for then??? ### 1/5 — Update won’t Recognize Watchdog *2025-12-30, version 1.0.14* App worked fine until the update required me to create “an account”. Now it tells me that my watchdog has already been associated with another account. Called support. Had to leave a message during normal business hours. Still nobody calls me back. Not impressed. ### 1/5 — Heartbreaking *2025-11-24, version 1.0.14* Looks like a Windows 95 app, VERY slow and won’t connect out of the box to the device. Fortunately, the device is quite good and I guess I’d rather have them perfect that than the app. Just too bad the app isn’t as good as the device. ### 1/5 — From bad to worse! *2025-11-03* Being only 30 feet away from the wifi signal, you would think they would stay connected, right? Nope, that’s too much to ask for; but at least I could walk up to them and connect by BT and then switch back to WIFI and they would reconnect. With this new update it shows BOTH BT and WIFI and I can’t switch to BT then back to WIFI. PLEASE, put it back like it was ! ! ! ### 1/5 — Frustrating *2025-10-27, version 1.0.13* The app requires constant restart! Sometimes have to restart twice to use. ### 1/5 — Timeout! *2025-08-16, version 1.0.13* Can’t even get this registered as I keep getting “timeout” error. Removed app and tried again… same thing. ### 1/5 — Not working at the moment *2025-08-04, version 1.0.13* Worked fine yesterday. Today is the white screen of death. Deleted app, reinstalled and every function gets a “time out”. Can’t log on, can’t register. I hope everything in my rv is OK because I don’t know. ### 1/5 — Upsetting *2025-08-02, version 1.0.13* Does not connect with my app. It worked for a couple of months and suddenly not anymore. Scan the unit but will not connect. ### 1/5 — Missing Functions *2025-01-28, version 1.0.10* Upgraded from regular Watchdog with Bluetooth to WiFi . First thing in new app text is real small, cannot set limits on amps voltage wattage and such like regular Watchdog. Instructions says it can turn your RV on and off remotely with app. No such function exist. The app is very lacking in functions and company lied about what it can do. Very happy with it. ### 5/5 — Doing the job! *2024-09-14, version 1.0.8* Called Hughes directly to order. Arrived a day earlier than expected (2 days). Downloaded the correct app (this app) for the Gen 2 after calling customer service about unable to connect. The wi-fi is great and gives us a piece of mind when away from the rig (2 dogs). Make sure you first turn your phone to cellular with Bluetooth on before setting up connection and then turn on WiFi for internet setup. Only issue I have is the plug cover will not close all the way due to the handle on my power cord. It still shelters the connection from the weather however. Definitely recommend the Gen 2 Watchdog. ### 5/5 — Works Well So Far *2024-08-24, version 1.0.8* First, make sure you download the correct app. This app is for the GEN II units, NOT the GEN I. There is another app for GEN I. So far, everything seems to work fine. Had an issue connecting to WiFi. Wouldn’t connect to my 5G connection, but did to the 2G. That’s fine as 2G covers a longer distance. Will update if the need arises. ### 5/5 — Gen II with WiFi *2024-08-14, version 1.0.8* Easy setup. Great improvements as compared to the Gen 1 models. Although I did like Gen 1. ### 3/5 — App needs work *2026-02-16, version 1.0.15* 1. App is very glitchy and does not work smoothly. I cannot even register my product for warranty because the app doesn’t have the selectors filled out for country and state, and continually crashes. 2. I shouldn’t have to log in every single time I open the app. Should stay logged in or atleast allow face recognition from the device. 3. Really would like a log of historical data for power usage with time stamps! A numbered graph or something of the sort to show what my usage looks like over time would be great! Great product, amazing idea, just need to smooth things out and add some features I’ve seen others request. ### 3/5 — Getting better all the time! *2026-01-30, version 1.0.14* I have 3 of these devices in service. Lots of improvements have been made recently, but one need remains . . . Please add an option for the devices to be re-ordered in the app. The first device of three is on bottom, but it’s most important, and needs to be on top. Thx. ### 3/5 — Dumb app design *2025-12-06, version 1.0.14* I wish they would move the button to remotely power off the entire trailer AWAY FROM THE BOTTOM WHERE ONE SWIPES A CELL PHONE! I’ve almost had a heart attack because of how they positioned that option. Very dumb design. ### 3/5 — Please fix connection issue *2025-06-30, version 1.0.13* This latest update requires you to logout of the app every time and login or you will encounter a white logo screen that goes nowhere and will require an uninstall/reinstall in order to be able to use again. Please fix the issue that requires the constant logout/login in order to use the app! Oh, and please consider increasing/bolding the readings fonts like the old Bluetooth only app. ### 2/5 — Poor App Connectivity *2026-03-11, version 1.0.16* The surge protector does not stay connected to the App. The app is poor and they need to make it better.
