### 3/5 — Functional with difficult payment

*2026-07-22*

Once you’re set up it’s fine, using the camera to scan a station is easy enough. The process for adding or modifying payment seems designed to try and funnel users to a subscription, changing the Pay as you Go card info took a couple of attempts, and that was after figuring out that a status indicator was also a button.

### 2/5 — Cumbersome difficult app

*2026-07-16, version 4.5.10*

App is annoying and difficult to use. Didn’t charge my vehicle despite charging me. Not a fan of this app. Hate on Elon all you want but at least his app and charging works.

### 2/5 — Terrible

*2026-05-20, version 4.4.7*

Never works, always some issue.

### 1/5 — Bad app, bad service

*2026-05-19, version 4.4.7*

Just trying to charge my car shouldn’t be so difficult. l had to download the app first, ok makes sense. Then I immediately had to upgrade the app, lame. The QR code had marks on it so it wouldn’t scan, had to type in manually. Then I needed to add money to the wallet. Then I had to add more money to cover the “estimated charge.” I didn’t even want to charge the car all the way but had to tie up $50 bucks in the wallet anyway. And then when I think I’m finally going to actually charge my car I discover that the CCS plug can’t be used with the adapter that came with my 2022 Tesla. Some signage would’ve been really helpful! So now that I’m out $50 and 20 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back, I’m driving to another charging station that I know will actually work.

### 3/5 — Complicated

*2026-05-06, version 4.4.7*

Of all the EV charging apps I have used, the setup for PowerFlex was not user friendly. It took over half an hour to get it going and sort out the wallet requirements. It would not allow me to only request for 2 hours of charging in advance. It kept defaulting to the full charge time and price and adding funds was difficult to navigate.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-04-28, version 4.4.7*

Literally doesn’t work with the Apple password manager

### 1/5 — Bad first time login experience

*2026-04-26, version 4.4.7*

I cannot create an account and scroll down to hit continue. The keyboard does not collapse so I can get to the button. I gave up after 4 tries. Fix it. Latest 26.2 release.

### 1/5 — Tedious setup vs ChargePoint

*2026-04-18*

I drive a Tesla so I’m used to zero effort charging. I set up ChargePoint very easily using ApplePay and have used that often. PowerFlex is so tedious in comparison, asking questions about how much I’m going to charge when I just want to plug it in and go. I gave up. Using a QR symbol which was damaged made it even more complicated. ChargePoint works with Apple Wallet soooo seamlessly!!! I wish all these non Tesla chargers would simplify the process. If you drive a non-Tesla you probably think I’m whining but you don’t know what you’re missing!! 🤓

### 1/5 — Fraud company

*2026-04-18, version 4.4.7*

Stole funds and won’t return them. Do not trust this company.

### 1/5 — Epic fail of an App and system

*2026-04-11*

Perfectly example of why Tesla charging is far superior. You can’t tap to pay at the PowerFlex parking box, it makes you download this horrible app, create an account, add a separate payment method, and pre-pay more than you need. And the flow of the app takes forever to load or asks to restart. Far too many steps to do a simple charge - that’s more expensive than other chargers. Definitely bad experience. Never using again.

**Developer response:** We are sorry you had a frustrating charging experience. We just rolled out a Guest charging experience which allows charging without downloading an app or creating an account. We are currently working on equipping public sites, so stay tuned!

### 1/5 — The most singular worst experience I've ever had using the charging app

*2026-04-05, version 4.4.7*

It's the most wonky unreliable poorly design charging app I've ever seen in my life. Why is this require me to specify how long I'm going to charge just charge the car until I'm done it doesn't allow me to add payment methods. It's clearly a hacked app pretending to be a native app and works worse than either.

### 3/5 — Location Services Eats Battery

*2026-04-04*

Overall the app is ok as far as usability is concerned. Generally activates and initiates charging fairly quickly wherever I’m in need of using it. When the charger is underground however it can hang in just locating the charger but it works most of the time.

My biggest gripe is the need for it to constantly use location services and thus is a massive battery eater for your phone. Shutting off the app while charging just increases both inconvenience as well as the UX when you return to your car and want to stop charging. If you leave the app running in the background it’s practically hemorrhaging your phone battery at an accelerated rate. This alone makes me hate using this app whenever I have to use it.

### 1/5 — Get a website

*2026-04-04, version 4.4.7*

Why did I need to download a 60mb app (in a parking garage with poor cell service) in order to use an app for charging that STILL ULTIMATELY OPENED A WEBVIEW to add payment info (in forms that didn’t support autofill)? And that was AFTER forcing me to create an account (in forms that didn’t support autofill!) for an app I’m never going to use again. I gave up somewhere around the 10 minute mark. Get a website.

### 1/5 — Pain in the everything

*2026-04-04, version 4.4.7*

This app wastes your time. No point using their charge network. They don’t understand user experience

### 1/5 — Poor excuse for an app

*2026-03-29, version 4.4.7*

Won't even let me sign in after they pushed some sort of web update to the app. Feels janky all around and not like a native app. Poor coding job.

### 1/5 — Terrible onboarding

*2026-03-25, version 4.4.7*

From driving up to a PowerFlex charger for the first time to actually having the car charging was 17 minutes standing in the cold. No guest mode. Auto fill for personal info and credit card was nonexistent. Some places in the app supported Apple Pay and some didn’t. The weird UI made it seem like it was impossible to charge my car for less than 9 hours and 36 minutes. There are pages that have both a (tiny) Submit button and a (large) checkmark button, which do very different things but neither provide any useful feedback. (Spoiler, the submit button is the one you want to press first)

It’s 2026. The most this process should require is: scan a QR code, tap Sign in with Apple, tap pay with Apple Pay, walk away from the car. If there are benefits to telling the app what kind of car I have, how many miles I want to add, or how much I want to fund my account, great, let me opt into that later when I have time.

Once I actually got the car charging, the status in the app kept disappearing or giving bad info.

There was someone parked next to me also struggling through this process and they gave up.

All around an extremely poor experience.

### 1/5 — Ugh

*2026-03-23, version 4.4.7*

Never works

### 1/5 — frustrating charging app

*2026-03-18, version 4.4.7*

Struggled with the buggy UX and constantly falling payment processor for 20 minutes before giving up on charging on power flex. Tried both loading funds and pay as you go and multiple credit cards

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Simply can't pay and charge

*2026-08-15, version 4.5.13*

Can we just scan the QR code and charge? Why do I need to specify how many hours / many miles to proceed to charge. Make it easier to use the app and charge

### 1/5 — Not a mobile friendly mobile app

*2026-08-15, version 4.5.13*

This is the worst app I’ve used in a while. The payment portion is not intuitive at all and because I made too many attempts, I had to wait 45 minutes before being able to attempt again. This is while I was already fairly low and picking someone up from the airport. Not sure why this app is seemingly designed for user failure.

### 1/5 — This app and charging system sucks

*2026-08-03, version 4.5.12*

You have to unplug it and plug it back in 40 times before it actually starts charging. This company sucks

### 1/5 — Can’t delete account

*2026-08-01, version 4.5.12*

Why have a feature to delete your account by not have it work? I sent comment in about this before but it’s still not working even after this last app update.

### 1/5 — Confusing

*2026-07-26, version 4.5.10*

The setup is confusing. Decided it wasn’t for me so wanted to delete my account, it won’t let me. The app gives the me the box to check “I want to delete my account” but nothing happens after that. No option on their website to delete an account either.

### 1/5 — Terrible experience

*2026-07-26, version 4.5.10*

I needed to charge our EV at a hotel charger at 10pm at night. I downloaded the app and then spent 10 minutes trying to get it to read the QR code, which was so bright my phone couldn’t pick it up. I finally had to go back inside the hotel and get my partner’s phone so I could light up the VERY LONG unit ID and type it in. Messed up the typing, had to do it again. 20 minutes later I got it to work. Came out at 8am and it had only added maybe 12kWh, meaning I needed to go to a fast charger anyway. What a waste of my time. I’ll never use PowerFlex again.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-07-25, version 4.5.10*

This is the absolute worst charging app I have ever used. Good luck setting up an account and getting a payment method stored. I have tried three times on two separate occasions. This is the kind of bad user interface that makes EV charging a nightmare

### 1/5 — worst charging app ever

*2026-06-15, version 4.4.17*

always crash for not reason and not shortcut and automatic available

### 1/5 — Cannot login

*2026-05-27, version 4.4.7*

Plz fix

### 1/5 — Rubbish app

*2026-05-22, version 4.4.7*

I’ve had the app downloaded from a previous charging session. As I’m attempting to charge, there is a message that the app needed to be refreshed for the most updated version. ?? FFS doesn’t this company know app development? Then, my car app shows I’m charging but the power flex app doesn’t show it. Can we say disconnect?? I’m glad I rarely use this company to charge while on the go. Just rubbish app. App development isn’t rocket science in today’s world.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worked for Me

*2026-06-17, version 4.5.1*

Finally found one open. Had to download the app fill out the forms and then I was ready to charge. Easy Peezy.

### 5/5 — Among the better charging apps

*2025-11-15*

The location access bug has been fixed, or at least the app doesn’t bug me any more about limiting location access. All the necessary features are present - rate of charge, etc - and when I reported a few broken stations in my area they were fixed fairly quickly.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-10-28, version 4.4.0*

Great and very easy to use. Price is right

### 5/5 — Supercharge

*2025-09-20, version 4.1.0*

### 5/5 — Simple interface

*2025-06-21, version 4.1.0*

This app is solid. Works well, incredibly easy to navigate and easy to load funds. Charging is simple, plug in, scan, start. I use through work so charging is subsidized and at a reduced rate. Station charges 17kwh in 2hrs on my jeep

### 5/5 — Does the job!

*2025-05-09, version v4.0.1*

Scan the QR code, confirm and plug, pretty straightforward to use after you setup your payment method

I had a fast and smooth experience.

### 5/5 — Great app, works 100% of the time

Fast, works every time
