It requires me to tie up two devices and to continually remove my hands from the keyboard to use my phone controls for dictation, and my hands on the keyboard and mouse or touchpad to really work with the document and edit things. and because my work phone on which the software is installed has a one minute lockout, I spend way too much time entering logins and password passwords and various biometric identities and not enough time actually dictating or typing. I am much happier with the high-quality microphone that I can attach to my computer, aim in my direction, and that does not tie up anything else and allows me to use my phone for music while I am dictating and I'm a lot faster when I can keep my hands on the keyboard and not going back-and-forth to the phone. I wouldn't mind if nuance were not simultaneously deprecating support for external microphones and power mics. ### 2/5 — Voice recognition *2026-01-26* The app seems to work well. I haven’t had issues with crashes as others have. However, the voice recognition has gotten really bad. Whether I use the app or the handheld remote, it never gets the first few words of the sentence right. It has a lot of trouble with small words and dictates words I don’t say. Dictation software isn’t particularly useful if the fidelity is so low. Creates a lot of extra work just to make it intelligible. ### 2/5 — Buggy *2025-12-22, version 6.0.15* Buggy, inconsistent, frequently fails to record ### 3/5 — Add feature please *2025-11-11* Why I do not have the option to prevent IOS from timing out / locking the phone when this is open. Even when the mic is not listening. If I am working on something and leave the mic in not listening mode, the phone timeout, go to sleep, and lock. It is bothersome to unlock the phone reconnect and turn mic on then dictate. Please add this feature. I have a link provided by my organization however, when I type it in, the app seems to flash an alert, but then doesn’t respond. I’ve tried to reinstall the app multiple times without any results. Overall, it’s just easier to use Siri instead of the software. ### 1/5 — No longer pairs reliably *2025-03-21, version 6.0.10* Something needs to get fixed, I have to stop and reboot this app repeatedly to pair with a computer. It’s now stopping mid dictation. The configuring link URL text box when trying to add a profile does not allow any text to be pasted into it or manually typed in. It is not a functional text box. DAX Copilot is an absolute joke. The app crashes & closes out during visits that are as short as 10 minutes. The app records a portion, but then will not create a transcription because it cannot “upload”. Internet connection is working great, so that doesn’t explain the issue. Although DAX is helpful for writing passable notes, I strongly recommend against relying on this app. It will fail you time and again. ### 1/5 — Crashes and doesn’t sync *2025-12-08, version 6.0.14* This is a terrible app with unreliable paring and efficacy. It crashed during my most complex patient encounters. This app is so cool and awesome when it works but if it’s this unreliable, it’s adding to my work because now I can’t trust it and still have to log in and take notes. Please please please fix. It’s hard enough to be a primary care doctor, and it’s so exciting to have some technology that helps but it needs to be reliable or else it just adds to my stress and burnout. Please put resources to fixing this immediately. I don’t have and iPhone so I use. My iPad, and I hear it’s more reliable on the iPhone but I have not choice to use my iPad so fix fix fix asap please! ### 1/5 — Always crashing *2025-10-09* this app is always crashing, does not work when I need it to the most, especially when I’m seeing patients. Will lag for sometime and when I click the record button, it will sometimes not record or record but when I click it to stop, it won’t stop recording. They seriously need to revamp this app or something because it is not it. Sure, it’s cool having the AI help you with charting and recording patient encounters, but what’s the point if I can’t even access it frequently. ### 1/5 — Can’t use powermic on Mac *2025-09-24, version 6.0.13* There seems to be no way to use a powermic on a Mac when running a Remote Desktop for Epic access. Using the powermic mobile app kind of works but is slow, glitchy, and the dictation is much better with a powermic. It is too bad the app doesn’t function well and there is no workaround for use on a Mac. ### 1/5 — Useless now *2025-09-24, version 6.0.13* Used to be a functional app. Not good, but at least adequate. Now it crashes mid recording or fails to log in at all 90% of the time. I’ve gone back to just typing my own notes because this app is too unreliable to waste time with. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Best dictation app, please make an iPad or watch app! *2022-10-14* This app works very well for dictation into Cerner and Meditech EMRs. Dragon dictation software has always been the best widely available software for dictation and is much better than any other dictation software I’ve ever used. With more providers working on iPads, the option to use the PowerMic software directly on the iPad offers greater flexibility, as your microphone won’t get disconnected when other apps are accessed on phone (lots of calls, pages, other notifications on phone, especially in a hospital setting). With and iPad app or a phone app with landscape mode support, the PowerMic app could be made small on an iPad, so that it doesn’t take up much of the screen (this may improve even further for M1 iPad users/recent iPad Pro users with iPadOS 16’s Stage Manager). Essentially, this tool is so useful, I want it on my screen all the time, not off my screen every time I get a text message or other notification on my phone. Alternatively, I would expect plenty of desire from providers for an Apple Watch app, as this would also be incredibly convenient. I personally don’t own an Apple Watch, so I would prefer the iPad app, but I expect an Apple Watch app would be immensely popular (mostly through the use of AirPods/other Bluetooth headphones). I also saw a video online about this app being demonstrated on a Samsung watch several years ago. Unfortunately, this never seemed to come to fruition. As a Samsung Gear S3 owner, I would love to have the option to dictate via the watch. ### 5/5 — Perfekt *2022-01-12* Ersetzt ein Hardware-Micro und erlaubt die Aufnahmesteuerung auf dem PC vom Handy aus. Very easy to use, once you get past the required configuration URL link to tie it to your organization's DMO account. ### 5/5 — DOES WORK *2017-05-26, version 1.3.3* This is intended to be used as a microphone with another product called Dragon Medical One. If you don't have that product, you can't log in. If you do have that product, this works great to let you dictate accurately from anywhere.
