This app hasn't been updated in 4 years and the last updates were merely language fixes. But I would like to see the app progress more to expand it's success and provide more entertainment. The concept is great but it felt underdeveloped. There is not enough detail on the several layers. As an example, only red blood cells are seen during blood flow. The cytoplasm is awfully lacking detail. This app is a good intro for someone the age of 4, such as my daughter who already knew the contents presented. The automatic panning should be removed from the application; don't make it the default operational mode. It is inconvenient to hold the iPad flat to prevent the automatic panning. Keep working on it. It is a great concept, just prematurely released. ### 3/5 — Has potential *2012-08-13* Currently it skips many "Powers of Ten" as it zooms in which leads to disorienting discontinuity, not what I was looking for in this app. Probably should be called "Powers of Minus Hundred". The system itself shows promise, but has a way to go before it is as smooth as similar systems in astronomy apps (though it also attempts a much harder task than those apps - stars and planets are easy compared to DNA). I found an interactive diagram in an iPad biology ebook I read probably better than this at allowing me to keep my bearings as I zoomed in and out. A great project, worth looking at, but needs further development. ### 5/5 — Slick and fun *2011-12-09, version 2.1* Really enjoyed the zooming interface... helps give context and scale to things that are normally disconnected in textbooks. Thank you! This is great. In the next version, I would like to see more detail in the descriptions of things, although I know how hard it is to condense this material without it getting confusing. maybe with additional pictures or the ability to zoom in on other items and processes (for example, the process of DNA transcription and translation). The bone POMT is completely unusable. And, once started, it is not clear what the user is supposed to do. After the third time of waiting several minutes for it load, I deleted it. I was very disappointed. Some of the pictures are good, but despite the advertising, it is not really a game and the actual science content is quite limited. You get a brief pop up window of factoids when you click on some cell structures, but this does not occur for all structures. The so called animations consist of sparkling and wiggling images that give no sense of process or of relationships among the organelles. You can exhaust the full range and content of the app in approximately 10 minutes. I can not recommend it to my students or to anyone else. The only good news? It only cost a dollar. It might be of some use if it received a massive upgrade, both of graphics and of information, hence my title - flashy but empty. ### 1/5 — Does not function *2011-08-21, version 2.1* This app freezes and does not operate AT ALL!
