But lately the numbers of typos, errors in paragraphing even a picture printed upside down(!!) and pages missing in the electronic version spoils things enough for me to mark this as only 3 stars. Surely someone proof reads before publication? Each month is packed with enjoyable articles on a wide variety of affordable classic cars, that will keep all enthusiasts of classic cars entertained. Keep up them great work. ### 1/5 — Excellent magazine, poor app *2016-04-03* The magazine is excellent, however I still prefer the paper version. What really bugs me is that instead of picking up the magazine and reading I have to open the app, then wait (and wait) while an ad for the publisher appears. Then wait some more until the ad fades. The app then takes me to their store. Finally, I press my magazines in order to read. I usually just buy the paper copy and save myself the bother. ### 4/5 — Latest edition keeps crashing *2016-01-28* It is normally great, but I Haven't been able to read the latest edition properly, as it keeps on crashing. Other magazines seem to cater to people in bespoke suits, who work in the city and have children called Rupert Barnabas Trousers-Smythe. Please can we get more stuff on Wedges, Cortinas, MGs and Series Land Rovers. Thank you for providing a shelter for Nick Larkin. Can you do something about Sam(Wookie) Glover's grooming? It is a danger to young children and women who are with child. Keep up the good work. ### 2/5 — In-app purchases don't work w/iTunes *2015-10-28* Good magazine and content but, while app offers additional, one-off editions for sale, it won't let me purchase them. I suspect it's because I subscribed through iTunes instead of the Great Magazines website but in a well written app, that wouldn't matter. Also, for a zine with this much content, the app should be searchable, like a PDF. ### 5/5 — Practical classics *2015-10-15, version 5.10* Fine app, I usually like to feel the paper in my hand but this app is good and very readable on my iPad glad I found it, don't be shy to download it for your own entertainment value. ### 2/5 — Why is it not full screen? *2015-06-15* As title.. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App doesn’t work unless you accept cookies. *2024-02-05* The app crashes with an endless loading spinner unless you accept cookies and tracking. Very unfortunate that you are following Apple’s lead to try to force users to upgrade to the latest model of hardware...:( ### 1/5 — Save your money… *2023-08-04, version 9.7* This app is useless… it’s always been difficult to navigate, and now I get a “please update” hint, but the link does NOT update, there appears to be NO update available, even via the app store, so I’m no longer able to tead the mag! Apart from wasted money, it’s no great loss: this mag has become less and less “practical” and more and more “fluff”. No longer worth it! I can’t give it NO stars, or I would! ### 1/5 — Poor. *2021-10-05* This publication has been substantially ‘dumbed down’ since the 1990’s. For someone with a good knowledge of classic cars and mechanical repair/restoration it’s not worth reading. I signed up for a reduced price trial and they took a substantial payment for further issues beyond the trial less than half way through the trial period. Avoid!!!! ### 1/5 — Shocking *2021-03-09* This app must be the worst app I’ve ever used. My advice pay a bit more and get paper copies you’ll never read an issue via this because it won’t let you log in.... When you download this app you then find that, after setting up an account, it wants you to repurchase the edition you’ve already paid for as there’s no way to link the existing purchase to the account you’ve set up. I think the problem here is that you didn't log in to the website on your laptop before you bought the issue. You need to log in to the website before you make a purchase so that you can link to the account of the app on your smartphone. Kind regards ### 1/5 — Not satisfied at all *2019-12-20, version 8.1.1* I have a digital and paper subscription but i do not manage to get neither paper nor digital new issues, even if my subscription is still active. ### 1/5 — If this were a classic, you’d send it to the crusher! *2019-02-01* This app promises so much, but delivers so little. When it works, it’s fine - although the screen resolution is nothing to write home about - but it crashes frequently back to the home screen. What’s worse, it doesn’t remember where you were in the magazine, so if the phone rings and your iPad switches off, next time to switch on to continue reading, you find it’s dumped you back to the Library and you have to start all over again.
