I am sure they could care less but it would be nice to have a program that is more functional. I use it because it is a fast and easy way to get my CME’s and there is the occasional study which is informative. C’mon man, just put a little money into the app, it is constantly freezing and I need to go back and reload tests so I can get credit. ### 2/5 — Clunky *2024-04-18* Love the content, but the tech is buggy. For years, some of the quizzes had the same annotated answer (that had nothing to do with that question). Very often, the “submit” button for quizzes overlies the “evaluation” tab, making it impossible to earn cme on mobile format- which is the whole point. ### 1/5 — Not working. No clue why *2022-08-08, version 2.1.4* Very clunky non-intuitive app. Currently 2022) shows current and only issue is from 2018. Tried it numerous times. No explanation. I have had subscription for more than ten years. ### 2/5 — Can’t log in *2021-11-03, version 2.1.2* I’ve had a subscription for decades. I’ve renewed. And when I try to use the new app it doesn’t allow me saying I have to renew first. Hopefully they are working on some fixes for their many listeners. ### 1/5 — New app version unusable *2021-07-28, version 2.0* If you don’t listen to a month’s content in one setting (ie, if you need to pause to run into the grocery, for instance), the app insists on FOREVER skipping back to an earlier review after finishing the current. Then you have to pull over, search for the next review in the list, and start that one. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. Also, the app no longer listens to fast forward/rewind/skip commands sent back from your car’s audio system. I’m a PRNM subscriber since 1987 (nuc med, then had to switch to Radiology when they dropped the NM content a few years ago), so not a Johnny-come-lately to the company nor their app. ### 1/5 — MD *2020-09-22, version 1.3.7* Easy to install but when asked to “sign in” no appreciable access capability ### 1/5 — Like the service but app is not good *2020-05-23, version 1.3.7* The OakstonePR idea is great but I’ve had this app for several years and still can’t figure it out. Unable to log into the app. Enter login user and password but it doesn’t do anything. Too bad. It has never worked right despite contacting help multiple times- it has never been able to play all the articles even when downloaded and don’t try to pause ! ### 1/5 — Dr loogie *2024-12-23, version 2.2.2* Overall just a very poor app. Difficult to navigate. Doesn’t sync with my apple car play. In past used the cd in my car player. Constant glitches make taking the quizzes impossible most of the time. Restarting repeatedly is needed to get even one question answered. Takes 5 minutes every time I try to login. ### 1/5 — Have to use the desktop for quizzes *2023-01-04, version 2.1.4* This app is ok for listening to the reviews, so in the sense that it can do something so basic that you could just pull an applet off the shelf it gets one star. But it fails miserably in UI/UX given that you can’t reliably take a quiz as the Apple keyboard blocks the “True/False” button which cannot be scrolled up past the keyboard. The entire point of paying for a subscription is ease of obtaining CME credits! You can’t get credit without taking the quiz which has to be done on the desktop?! For what is being charged per subscription, this app is an embarrassment at best and a sign of uninhibited greed at worst. ### 1/5 — The worst app ever? This app is that bad. ### 1/5 — Is there less than one star *2022-09-30, version 2.1.4* Wow 17 + years old application and no one bothers to improve it Before I downloaded I thought must be a mistake average two star rating now I know why Issue mentioned in previous reviews still lingers it doesn’t recognize your credentials and asks to call to renew subscription Nonsense !! It’s a paid subscription and someone should be able able to sync the credentials on this platform so that it recognizes active subscribers I am sure this review will fall on deaf ears too and no I don’t intend to call customer service Thank you ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — No clue why so many low reviews *2026-03-18, version 4.0.7* The reviews are highly inaccurate. App works fine and exactly how it’s supposed to. It is simple and useful. No clue what people were on about. I would love for the audio portion to have speed settings since I usually listen to everything on 1.5-2X and sometimes tune out when people speak too slowly. ### 5/5 — Efficient, practical CME *2020-06-24, version 1.3.7* I am a Hospitalist and I love using the Practical Reviews to listen to practice-changing research.This app supplies are written review and quiz and the ability to obtain 0.25 credits immediately after listening to the summary and taking the quiz.It also allows you to browse other specialties and pick articles of interest.I am not sure why it gets such poor reviews and is it is one of the most effective and efficient ways to obtain CME that I have found. ### 5/5 — Excellent product *2019-05-23, version 1.3.7* Excellent product. The presenters do a good job of presenting the articles and giving fair critiques without biased opinions. Sometimes even entertaining, which is quite a feat given the dry nature of scientific literature. Makes productive use of driving time. ### 5/5 — Underrated due to misleading reviews *2019-05-08, version 1.3.7* I felt compelled to write a review after hesitating a long time to purchase this service due to scathing 1-star reviews. I should have known not to trust said reviews as they were nearly all riddled with typos. This app works just fine. I’m able to log on, download content, listen even when the phone screen is sleeping, etc. It works as advertised. Ignore the ramblings of tech-handicapped folk. If you enjoy Practical Reviews in (whatever your specialty is... mine is pathology), then you will find this app immensely helpful and a respectable companion to the online or CD version of what you get. I can use it as a stand alone in the future. I currently get CDs because I initially distrusted the app thanks to clueless docs punching one letter at a time on their smartphones. ### 5/5 — Impractical Reviews *2014-10-12, version 1.1* I have been a subscriber for many years, back to the Paleolithic era of cassette tapes. This product is the successor to Keystone Reviews, another flawed computer effort never updated. The service itself has excellent information. But why can't I play an entire issue without starting each review manually? Or vary the playback speed? Or sign in once a day? Or have a comments section to discuss articles from the app? As others have noted the interface leaves much to be desired. C'mon guys, drop a few dollars on a software developer. They need to eat too! ### 5/5 — Better than website!!! *2014-08-03, version 1.1* Hands down- this app is much easier to use than their website for earning CME credit. Took a few minutes to realize that you have to add an article or an entire series of articles to the playlist and hit the audio button to read and take the quizzes (audio optional). Once you have successfully taken the quiz(es) and your credits are reflected in your total for the year, clear the playlist or those articles will continue to show up each time. ### 5/5 — Ditch your PC and use this App instead *2013-12-01, version 1.1* The designers did a great job on this App on the first attempt. You can download all of your content and either listen to it or read it. Photos are also included and this is a very nice addition. You can answer the quiz questions for each article as you go and then submit them when you have finished all of them. You obtain credit instantly. My only beef is that I got one question wrong and I don’t think the App can tell me which one was wrong. That would be a nice improvement. The advantages over the Quickscan Reviews App on my Mac are that you can listen to the narration or read the article, see the photos and take the quiz all within the App. You can also search the database from the App. I typed in CK20 and it brought up dozens of articles from the last 10 years. I could also narrow my search by typing in CK20 and Bladder. The disadvantages in comparison to the QSR App is that I have added hundreds of my own articles over the years. Other than that I cannot think of any reason to ever open the QSR App on my desktop computer again. Also you can ditch all those CDs and paper that they used to send you in the mail. You will never need that physical content again. I prefer to use this app on my iPad but it seems to work just as well on my iPhone. I would encourage Practical Reviews users to try this App. ### 5/5 — Works well, convenient *2013-05-17, version 1.0* My biggest complaint about practical reviews has been inconvenience to download from website to iTunes to my iPhone ( which I listen to in car). This app works very well and is ultra convenient...well done guys. ### 3/5 — Great material, app has problems *2013-10-23, version 1.0* Unable to get the quiz function to work, continuous playlist for each issue would be extremely helpful. Would be great to not have to log in every time. Update - spent some time trading emails with the webmaster. To get the quiz to work on the app you have to take the whole quiz for that issue and then submit. Upgraded from 2 to 3 stars. Also, the webmaster was very responsive to my emails. ### 2/5 — Constantly crashing *2026-04-22, version 4.0.7* Unable to launch app for the last few days. It keeps crashing.
