## What is Practice Log?

Practice Log is a practice journal for musicians: start the timer, record yourself, then listen back.

• Session timer and recording
Start with one tap. Record the whole session, then play it back on a waveform — drag to the part that went wrong and hear it again. Recordings stay on your device.

• Metronome and tuner
A metronome with custom accents, subdivisions, and progressive tempo training. A tuner for guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, viola and more, plus a chromatic mode.

• Sheet music
Add MusicXML scores to any exercise and pull them up while you play.

• Spaced repetition
Built on FSRS — suggestions are based on how memory actually fades, not just how long ago you practised something.

• Practice videos
Turn a recording into a vertical video with waveform and beat grid, ready to share. Or share the original audio when your teacher needs to hear the whole piece.

• Progress you can see
Practice time and streaks are tracked automatically, with weekly and monthly reviews. Export everything at any time — your data is yours.

For anyone building a daily practice habit, and for players who want to look back seriously.

• PracticeLog Pro
Advanced metronome, audio editor, practice video export, share links and full-history insights.
Yearly subscription $9.99 (14-day free trial) or a one-time lifetime purchase $24.99, with Family Sharing; the App Store shows the exact price for your region.
Recording, sheet music, tuner, basic metronome and data export stay free forever — your data is always yours.
Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled anytime in your App Store account settings.

### 5/5 — Nearly perfect for us!

*2026-10-11*

We love it and use it daily. The only thing we run into is adding a practice with multiple pieces later. With multiple kids who don’t have their own devices we are sometimes adding things later and in order to add multiple pieces it seems we need to add a bunch of smaller practices instead of one (like the result of a usual planned practice). Not a deal breaker by any stretch, just a little thing. It’s also possible we’ve overlooked an easier way to do it.

A wishlist item: Would love to someday be able to manage two+ kids on one device more easily and keep their practice separately tracked (I’m a parent of younger kids).

**Developer response:** Thank you, this made our day! You're right: adding a past practice currently takes one piece per entry. That's a gap on our side, not something you overlooked, and we're working on letting you add several pieces in one entry. Separate tracking for multiple kids on one device is on our list too. Thanks for telling us exactly how your family uses PracticeLog.

### 5/5 — The very best practice logging app there is!

*2026-04-16*

This app has everything I need. It’s simple and it works well. I use it daily. The developers listen when something needs to be fixed and they fix it. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

**Developer response:** This honestly made my day — thank you!
I’m really happy the app is useful for your daily practice, and I truly appreciate your feedback and support. More improvements coming soon!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-10-29

One device, the whole family: you can now add profiles for your kids or students. Each profile keeps its own practice log, pieces, review progress and goals, and can copy pieces from another profile. Overview shows how much everyone practised this week. Tap the top-left corner of Home to add or switch.

Your own profile is always free; extra profiles are part of PracticeLog Pro.

Also: small fixes and improvements.

### 1.2.5 — 2026-10-27

New in the tuner: Follow my note. Wear earphones for long-tone practice and you'll hear the in-tune pitch of the note you're playing, changing automatically when you move to a new note. When you're off you hear beats; when you're in tune they disappear. Available with earphones in the tuner's Wind and Chromatic modes.

Also: small fixes and improvements.

### 1.2.4 — 2026-10-23

The tuner now has an instrument key setting: Bb, Eb and F instruments (clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, horn and more) see written note names, so there's no transposing in your head. Pick it once under Instrument key in the tuner and the drone uses the same key.

Also: small fixes and improvements.

### 1.2.3 — 2026-10-22

Your practice log is safer: editing a session no longer drops untitled free-practice time, and if the system closes the app for hours, the time you already practised is kept. Changing the total when saving now splits it across your pieces.

The drone now starts in your instrument's key (no more switching by hand on Bb and Eb instruments), carries on properly after a phone call, and follows A4 changes straight away.

The language you pick in the app stays put. Also: small fixes and improvements.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-10-21

The metronome's first beat now stands out clearly: it's an octave higher and louder than the other beats, so you can hear the downbeat even over a loud instrument.

Metronome training modes (speed trainer, ghost beats, fade away and more) are now right on the metronome screen, and Summary shows what's in the all-time stats.

Also: small fixes and improvements.
