Especially advanced settings like timed gate opening and closings etc. Manual is zero help. ### 1/5 — Notifications not working *2023-10-03, version 2.8* Notifications are not showing on my iPhone, kind of defeats the purpose of an intercom. Not only do they not function they are graphically horrible and unintuitive. Today after 5 years I finally tore my AES intercom off my gate and replaced with Hikvision Intercom. It is by far way superior in every way. Better technology, support, usability, functionality. I have 3 neighbours with signs on their AES intercoms saying “don’t ring doorbell - out of use” Spoke to AES way to many times over the years and never got anything productive back. iPhone apps not developed in over 4 years. All these apps look like they were written as a school project. Please take some design elements for an iPhone app. A page full of graphics with no exploration what each is is poor. You can’t even access the cameras of an AES product apart from through there app. So you can’t add it to your home automation. You can also not trigger gate openings using API etc. Here is an honest statement I’m not writing as an exaggeration “In the 5 years of owning an AES intercom, despite having perfect internet connection, I have not had one communication with a visitor that I would say was successful” The majority is the visitor leaving before I got the notification and got the app to connect. Then if I did catch them the communication was poor both in quality and speed. I got to the point I would leave my gate in pedestrian mode each day so visitors could just walk in. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2022-10-30, version 2.8* If you use an iPhone and it is on lock screen (which is pretty much always), you will NOT get alerts when someone pushes the button to reach you. Only works on Android. No access to any video. So if someone approaches you can not go back and look to see who it was. You can not hold open the gate from your phone, only from the keypad. VERY annoying when you want to remotely leave open for work people or deliveries. There is no night vision. When the sun goes down, your camera only delivers a grayish blob. Basically, it does nothing you'd expect it to do. And, app is lame, antiquated and makes you go through 2 steps just to open the gate. Icons to access different features are counter-intuitive, more like hieroglyphics. Takes multiple tries to find what you're looking for. I only wish I had read the reviews before I purchased. ### 1/5 — Connection issues *2022-06-16, version 2.8* Does work. They did an update and that fixed something for about 6 weeks. My device is currently mine again. When the video opener drops the network, it will not shut, open, log on, or anything! Been locked out many times *2025-03-02, version 2.8* Domestic gates, totally frustrated with the app. Works for a bit but have lost count how many times I’ve been locked out as the app has failed to let me in or out the drive. No longer trust it even when it’s working. Gone back to using the fobs good old point and press. The world and its dog have tried to sort this out, professionals, handymen, teenagers…. Online help well that’s another story. ### 1/5 — Horrible app. *2025-02-13, version 2.8* Does not notify us when the call button on our video entry system is pressed. Video quality has been terrible. Audio is sub par at best. What a huge waste of money. Stay away! ### 1/5 — The worst intercom on planet earth *2024-11-05, version 2.8* I don’t bother myself leaving reviews but I will leave for this useless intercom brand. Wast of money and waste of my time calling engineers to fix this god forsaken intercom. Who even made this thing. I have missed a lot of visits and deliveries because of this bloody intercom. ### 1/5 — Very unhappy *2024-06-26, version 2.8* Have wrestled with this for 18 months. Found it needs on off reset regularly like every 1-2 weeks to get back into our home, else cannot enter. Also notifications had erratic behavior and not appearing consistently on mobile devices. Camera quality poor and intercom hard to hear. Upgraded to 200 meg internet connection - made no difference. So disappointed. ### 1/5 — Always offline - connectivity issues *2024-05-24, version 2.8* As lots of people mentioned device is More offline than online even on a wired Ethernet connection. UI is THE WORSE and customer service non-existent. The want to talk only to installers even though the issue is software-installers can’t fix bad software and bad hardware. ### 1/5 — Just doesn’t work - don’t waste your money *2024-05-09, version 2.8* In theory the system looks great - but it just doesn’t work. The belongs merrily on the keypad at the gate but does not connect through to the app on our phones. Also there is no audible ringer in the house so unless you have the app open you can’t hear the bell - which doesn’t work anyway!! Completely useless - don’t waste your money ### 1/5 — Awful UI and layout *2024-04-23, version 2.8* Needs some serious UI and quality of life improvements. Looks like a final project for a high school coding class. Low graphics quality, unoptimized layout with no rhyme or reason, and nonsensical interface, especially for interacting with gate systems and changing general settings. ### 1/5 — Poor after care service and app keeps deleting key codes *2024-03-26, version 2.8* For some reason the entry key codes keep deleting themselves and that’s after you manage to get them on in the first place because sometimes they don’t save at all. App is slow, freezes and unreliable, sometimes it loads after several attempts. Can’t call anyone for support because I’m not the installer and the engineer who did isn’t around anymore. Will now have to spend thousands on another entry system. ### 1/5 — Worst app there is *2024-03-04, version 2.8* This app has not been functioning for several months now on my and my spouses devices. The problem is that no notification pushes through to phones as it did when initially installed. It sounds minor, but it has meant that many visitors to our home has turned away, believing nobody is in. I have to say the the picture quality and microphone isn’t great either. I have a Ring camera fixed 4-5 metres away, focused on the gate and it is streets better. Trying to find a solution is frustrating and inconclusive as the problem persists and there has been no aftermarket care. DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT! ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great Upgrade to the WIFI Pro 2 *2023-12-17, version 2.8* The app works faster, and connects to the system and calls, much more quickly than the WiFi Pro 2. It also has a upgraded keypad, improved camera, much more functionality and additional options. Lastly, the Tech support is awesome. Thank you! ### 5/5 — Updated from WiFi pro 2 *2023-10-24, version 2.8* I’m not sure if the dramatic update is due to the hardware or software but wow what a difference! Our intercom system which use to run on WiFi Pro 2 was always spotty and incredibly slow to respond to calls or anything for that matter. We finally replaced the motherboard and the new one works with this app instead. I can’t believe how much easier this app was when pairing with the intercom, setting up the keypad etc. it’s like 1990’s technology vs 2023 technology faster. ### 5/5 — Mark *2023-02-25, version 2.8* Happy for now ### 3/5 — No ring tone on iphone 14 *2023-08-03, version 2.8* I get a banner but no ring tone when someone pushes button. I will never know if it is just motion or a caller without going to the app and looking at the video. If the app is open I get the ringtone but the app cannot stay open all of the time. There is no “slide the banner and chose view” option. I have checked all settings. ### 3/5 — JD Clark *2022-06-01, version 2.8* So far so good, but would really be nice to if there were a simple Latch/Unlatch buttons for the two relays on the user interface. Today they arent working for any of them ### 2/5 — Insecurity *2023-10-06, version 2.8* For serious security I would not recommend this app. It is impossible to shut the gates quickly if they are held open on a schedule. The video playback is clumsy, there is no transport to view clips properly and no obvious way of uploading the clips should they be needed by the police etc.. Not to mention just one vibrate when someone’s calling? What’s the point of having a gate if I don’t see when someone’s trying to get in?
