## What is Pray Aloud?

Most prayer apps have you listen to someone else pray. Pray Aloud waits while you say it.

Every morning: one verse, one written prayer, three minutes. You never sit in front of a blank page wondering what to say. You just say it. Out loud. Whispering counts.

YOUR VOICE STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Pray Aloud listens the way a friend does: to know you spoke, never to keep what you said. Recognition happens on your device. Nothing you say is recorded or uploaded, and there is no server full of prayers, because we never built one.

A NEW PHOTOGRAPH OF CREATION EVERY MORNING
A daily photograph of mountains, seas, lakes or woods follows the seasons. In the evening it turns to a sunset, and at night to the stars.

GRACE, NOT GUILT
No red marks. No broken streak shame. Miss a day and a Grace Day covers it. One number never resets: your total mornings with God. This app will never tell you that you failed.

WHEN IT IS NOT THE MORNING
Sixty prayers for fifteen of the hardest things: waiting for results, before surgery, when you can't sleep, grief, a child who has walked away. Every one has a version for the day the answer was no. At night, a wind down for sleep: a psalm read slowly, three quiet questions and a prayer, then silence.

PRAY WITH ME
On a tired morning, in the car, or the first time you pray out loud, a voice prays each line with you while each line lights up.

THE PRAYER BECOMES YOURS
Name the people you are carrying and the morning prayer ends by saying their names, out loud, in your own voice. Learn a verse by heart by saying it, not typing it. Ninety verses open all the way down: what it means, who wrote it, and the Hebrew or Greek word beneath the translation. Where Christians read a passage two ways, you get both, and we don't pick.

SHARE THE MORNING
Invite someone to pray with you by sharing the App Store link. Your Circle is a private group of up to six people: see when your friends have prayed and send a simple "I prayed for you". Sharing and Circle codes never change membership access or pricing.

WHAT WE BELIEVE, SO YOU KNOW
Every word of scripture here is the World English Bible, unedited. The prayers are written ahead of time and checked before they ship; nothing is written while you pray. The voice that can pray with you was made with AI, once, from those same words, and the app says so whenever it plays. No ads, no sponsors, no celebrities and no politics.

NO ACCOUNT. NO SIGN IN.
Your prayers and personal notes stay on your device unless you choose an iCloud copy. Core prayer works offline. You can delete your data in the app. If you use Circle, your chosen first name and prayer status are shared with your group through Apple's iCloud. Optional iCloud copies and historical membership records also use Apple's services.

PRAY ALOUD IS A MEMBERSHIP
Everything in the app is part of it: the morning prayer, the sixty prayers for hard days, your people named in your prayer, Pray with me, the wind down, verses by heart and their meaning, and the 5 and 10 minute mornings. Any eligible trial is shown before purchase. If you had Pray Aloud before 2.0, everything in it is yours, free, as a thank you.

Choose a yearly or monthly subscription, or Lifetime, a single purchase that never renews. Prices and any eligible introductory offer are shown in the app by the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and can be managed in Settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.2.3 — 2026-10-30

Welcome, from a fresh start:
1. Drag a finger anywhere on any page. A small star should follow it, and buttons and choices should still press normally.
2. No page should scroll. Check "Make time each morning", "When is your quiet moment?" and "Can we say good morning".
3. On the first two questions, press Continue before choosing. The line above turns gold and nothing else happens.
4. Pray First: no illustration. After choosing apps, "Your apps are chosen." shows, then the welcome moves on by itself.
5. Covenant: "I commit" stays grey until you sign. Your name and the date are visible, and there is no Skip.
Widget: the verse stays the same all day, and on the Lock Screen it is larger.
Pray First: with the microphone off, the Amen should wait a good while before it lights.

### 2.2.1 — 2026-10-28

A voice to pray with: every prayer, at every length, can now be read aloud in one warm, recorded voice made with AI. Tap “A voice” on the Pray screen.
Pray First can hold every app each morning until you’ve prayed, except the apps you keep open, Phone, and the apps Screen Time always allows.
A calmer new look for Pray, Today, the Amen and Wind down.
One tap to begin praying aloud.
Fixes throughout, including layouts for larger text.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-10-14

Pray Aloud 2.2, the biggest update yet.

Pray First. Choose the apps that should wait for your prayer, like Instagram or TikTok. Each morning they wait until you have prayed your morning prayer. If something cannot wait, Skip now opens them for a few minutes, and Not today opens them until tomorrow. Pray Aloud never learns which apps you chose.

Your Circle. Pray each morning with up to five friends. A gold dot shows when each of you has prayed, and one tap says "I prayed for you". There is nothing to post and nothing to read, and it lives in iCloud, not on a server of ours.

A voice to pray with you. If you would like company, a calm voice can pray each sentence with you. It was made with AI, once, from the app's own prayers, and the screen always says so.

Say it in plain words. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, a verse or a line of the prayer can be explained simply, by your phone, with nothing sent anywhere.

One sentence at a time. The prayer now comes a sentence at a time, and each one lights as you say it, so you always know where you are.

A new icon: first light over the mountains. A new welcome under a night full of stars and shooting stars, until the sun comes up. The whole choice of plans on one calm screen, and a short guide that shows you around on your first morning.

One membership, everything in it. Choose a year or a month, with any eligible introductory offer shown by the App Store. Nothing in the app is extra.

Membership and sharing are clearer. Custom friend passes and referral rewards have been removed. Purchases and restoration use Apple's in-app purchase system, and App Store offer codes open Apple's own redemption sheet.

Seventeen crowns, each harder to earn and more beautiful than the last, with a bar that shows how close the next one is.

Prayers that sound like a person, a morning that greets you by name, every verse explained, the whole verse on your widget, and a calmer, clearer look on every page.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-10-03

Pray Aloud 2.0

If you had Pray Aloud before this update, your morning stays free, as we promised.

A proper welcome. Before your first morning, Pray Aloud asks what is hardest about prayer for you, how long you have, when your quiet moment is, how close God feels right now, who you are carrying and what is on your heart this week. Then it says it all back to you, and your mornings are built from it: their names are spoken at the end of every prayer, what you are carrying becomes a line of it until the day it is answered, and the reminder says the moment you chose. A covenant, in your own hand, if you would like one.

Invite friends. You now have your own code, shown once your first week begins. When a friend starts with it, they get 30 days to try Pray Aloud, and your next year of Pro is half price. When three do, that year is free, and three more make the year after free too. The count is on your You tab.

Every morning, a new photograph of God's creation: 366 of them, one for every day of the year, so no morning's picture comes round twice. Sunrise over mountains and the sea, beaches, still lakes, meadows, forests, autumn woods in the autumn and snow in the winter. In the evening the picture turns to a sunset, and at night to the stars: the Milky Way, the moon on the water, the northern lights.

The morning picture lives. It shifts as you tilt your phone, drifts slowly toward its subject, and warms or cools with the hour. Tap it to see who took it and one line about it. Hold it to see it alone.

Prayers shows what is behind each door: today's verse with words taken away as you learn it by heart, the Hebrew or Greek word beneath today's verse, a prayer for what you're facing, an evening prayer before sleep, and forty days of prayer as a road into the dawn.

Five tabs: Today, Prayers, Circle, Journey and You.

Mornings in a row, kept with grace. A missed day covered by grace keeps your run going, and you can hide the count whenever you like.

Awards for the mornings you keep, the verses you learn by heart and the seasons you pray through.

Your voice, visible. The words light up one at a time as you say them, each in its turn, and a soft light around the screen follows your voice as you pray.

Every door opens with its picture growing to fill the screen.

Each morning's verse now arrives on your Lock Screen with its picture.

Pray with a friend: every phone gets the same verse and the same prayer each day.

A year of mornings: 275 new prayers, so no morning comes round twice in a year.

Pray with me: a voice prays each line with you while the words light up. For the car, a tired morning, or the first time you pray out loud.

Wind down for sleep: a psalm read slowly, three quiet questions and a prayer, then silence.

Let them know: after a morning that named someone, send them a card that says I prayed for you this morning.

Everyone, one by one: pray through everyone you carry in one sitting.

Larger words and a plainer page, in Settings.

Our promise, in one place: what this app will always do, and what it never will.

A new night icon.

### 1.7.3 — 2026-09-22

The words keep up with your voice.

On iPhones running iOS 26, the read-along now follows you word by word while you speak, instead of catching up when you pause. On every other iPhone it works exactly as it did.

Fifty six prayers rewritten so they read naturally when said out loud. Your first three mornings now show how far through the prayer you are. The painting gets its full height back on Today and after Amen, and the credit no longer sits under the settings button.

The praying screen now reads properly with VoiceOver: the prayer is announced as one sentence, and every control has a name.

Nothing is recorded. Nothing leaves your phone. There is still no account.
