## What is Précis?

Meetings should end with clarity, not more admin. Précis records and transcribes on your iPhone, turns each conversation into structured Minutes, keeps the Follow-Ups you choose connected to what was said, and lets you ask across your meeting history with cited answers.

Précis can transcribe offline, and you don’t need a separate Précis account. Import existing audio, PDFs, text, WebVTT, or SRT transcripts from other apps.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Transcription happens on your iPhone. Audio stays on-device unless you enable end-to-end encrypted cloud audio backup (Pro). For AI Minutes, Précis sends transcript text, not audio. Prompts and responses aren’t logged, and your data is never sold or used to train models. No ads. No tracking. Face ID App Lock, retention controls, opt-in Spotlight, data export, and in-app account deletion keep you in control.

• Dialogs and system actions feel more at home on iOS 27, with dependable fallbacks on iOS 26.5.

### 2.0 — 2026-08-10

Précis 2.0 is a redesign of the whole app around a simpler home base.

• Home — recording controls, your next calendar meeting when enabled, current Follow-Ups, and recent activity in one prioritized feed.
• Follow-Ups — the single queue of items you track, and each row shows where it came from.
• Meetings — every meeting in one place, with Find searching as you type.
• Ask Précis — a persistent home for questions across your meetings. Switch tabs and return to your active conversation.
• Settings — now behind the gear at the top of Home, with clearer Recording & Notes, Preferences, and Backup & Retention sections.

Also new in 2.0:

• Edit generated minutes: change or remove items and restore them later. Edited items are badged; your transcript is never rewritten.
• Privacy controls: transcript retention, opt-in Spotlight indexing, and data export.
• Ask Précis answers can now suggest actions from the follow-ups you track.
• Import WebVTT and SRT transcripts with their timing and speakers.

Précis 1.1 adds Ask Précis with cited answers, Calendar-aware capture, configurable meeting reminders, and Pro Meeting Prep briefs.

You can now see upcoming meetings on Home, choose when Précis reminds you to prepare or record, open a pre-meeting brief for matched meetings, and ask questions across your own meeting history with source citations.

This update also improves Follow-Ups, FAQ/privacy copy, audio storage controls, and prep/readability polish.
