### 5/5 — A ‘must have’ for piano!!

*2020-04-23, version 1.70*

I can keep my grand in tune all year long! 🌞❄️

### 5/5 — Very happy

*2019-12-28*

I got this because it includes a pre-calibrated TrueTemperament tuning. I also like that it has calibration up to +/- 60 cents as I tune to -20 hertz. It shows the target frequency for each note (it would be better for me if there was also a Just/Harmonic setting as the target frequencies seem to based only on Equal Temperament). I must say that my True Temperament acoustic guitar does now sound very in-tune though! And I’m sure I’ll enjoy the piano slack tuning capabilities when I get a piano.

### 5/5 — Amazing Accuracy!

*2019-10-03, version 1.70*

I just tried this incredible App for the first time! The App name is very accurate, and SO is the App itself! 😃 As a casual 'guitar player' - rather than a 'guitarist', my guitar is often left unplayed for lengthy periods of time (I know, I know! I'm a bad lad! Lol 😂), the thing is, I have many other interests that take up much of my time! 🙄🙄🙄 So my guitar is more-often-than-not out of tune by the time I get around to playing it again! I had been on the lookout for a good guitar tuner - there's a plethora on the App Store, - but I got this one just 15 minutes ago and it is SUPERB!!! 😊😊😊 Does just what it says it will do, and with tremendous accuracy! Apparently it's great for tuning other instruments also, such as keyboards - although I'm unable to comment further on that, as I don't have a keyboard to try it on! Well done this developer on a GREAT App!!! 😃👌

### 5/5 — PST Tuner Is My Go To

*2019-08-24*

I love this PST tuner app. It's not a strobe, but the features are really useful. My ipad is always near my guitars, so it is very convenient.

### 5/5 — Fun but

*2017-06-26, version 1.63*

It is theoretically possible to indicate a pitch more accurately than an instrument can dial in or a string can make. This tuner makes us think that it provides that means and compels you to try, to play with the app like the cool toy it is. The bottom like though is how it all sounds when you're finished and how easy it is to use.
It doesn't sound that good and endless fiddling required.
I've checked out all my instruments learning what I can do and how to do it. I give this app 5 stars because it's fun to play with, not because it's a good functional tuner. I haven't tried a strobe tuner before so I have nothing to compare it to.
The down side is it's not a practical option during a live performance.
The fact that it uses the audio microphone is problematic. It's only useable in a quiet place. It rather needs a contact pickup able to clip on your instrument. According to the instructions there's a pickup that plugs into the charging port and you need that because the headphone/microphone jack feeds in through a band pass filter that ignores frequencies below 150 cycles which means the iPhone or iPad is designed to be deaf to bass notes. I haven't found a pickup configured with a plug which uses the charging port.
The manual octave selector pops out of lock every time the note is tested. When it does, the band pass filter drops out and then the display is momentarily chaotic and you reset and try again; lots of playing around. I can't make the custom profile feature work, so maybe it doesn't.
So, try this app, it's free to try.

### 5/5 — Worth the price.

*2017-06-19, version 1.63*

It saved my butt in the studio. Worth the money just for that.

### 5/5 — Great resource for student tuners

*2016-12-18, version 1.63*

From a student's perspective: I want something similar to "Cyber Tuner" in hand. This affordable app offers similar precision strobe display, which is valuable even just to train my hand technique. The temperament sounds quite fine; one could of course fine tune after the app.
I like that the app is being updated often.
It doesn't have presets for specific piano models, which shouldn't be a problem when a student is learning to tune by ear. I am very thankful for this app.
It does use a lot battery, my iPhone 5s wouldn't survive a whole piano tuning without external power. The phone also heats up, might cause phone to shutdown if used for too long?

### 5/5 — Smart Software

*2016-09-07, version 1.61*

I have been tuning my piano for many years. I am self taught and have been able to do a so-so job. After using PST I found that my piano has that sweet sound that a professional tuner is able to achieve. PST is a first class piece of software, written by a signal processing expert who knows his stuff. I know; I worked in the field as a programmer for forty two years. It shows.

### 5/5 — Very nice tuner!

*2016-06-05, version 1.6*

I use this for my guitar and the kids use it for their violins. Now, I wouldn't use any thing else. Really nice.

### 5/5 — Very Useful and easy to understand

*2014-09-29, version 1.4*

Used it to verify that the unisons in the upper register on my Baldwin SF-10 piano were off after a recent tuning. Also determined the stretch was suboptimal for my piano.

When I finally get a tuning with the stretch I find most pleasing, I will use it again to set one of the custom temperaments to the values I like so we will have it for next time!

### 5/5 — Great app for my piano tuning business...

*2014-09-05, version 1.4*

I've been tuning for 20 years now, for the past 10 or so years I've used Tune Lab 97. I've resisted upgrading to the latest version because every time I had 300 bucks I had something better to do with it. I tried the light version of this app and knew I wanted to spend a measly five bucks for this app that replaces most of the features that the TuneLab program did. It is a tremendous app that is suited for fine tuning wind, organs and especially pianos. A technician with some experience can tune an instrument in about an hour. That way you can schedule another tuning in a day and make a little more cash.

Now if you've never tuned your piano and think this will save you a visit from your piano tuner, think again. there's a lot more than just getting the strings in tune. Even with this app it will take you hours to get your piano sounding right, you'll be happier if you just pay your tech and sip a beverage while he works.

Again great app...
But if you are a piano tech wanting to put this on your iPad, be sure to get a good mic to go with it. The iPad has a problem with hearing the lowest and highest notes on the iPad...

### 5/5 — Piano tuner's friend

*2014-08-10, version 1.4*

Excellent app!

### 5/5 — An excellent tuner

*2014-03-30, version 1.4*

I have never had reason to use the more complicated functions of this tuner, but it has excelled as a quick accurate tuner for guitar and bass. Maybe one day I will get around to tuning a piano, though!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scam

*2024-11-10, version 1.92*

Big scam, taking money monthly, always crashes, won’t let me unsubscribe.

### 1/5 — Only crashes on iPhone

*2024-10-30, version 1.92*

RIP-OFF for iPhone: Was hired to tune a piano, had to turn down the job because it no longer runs on my iPhone, bur you charged me $13.00 anyway.

### 1/5 — Robbed

*2012-01-04, version 1.0*

iOS 4.2.1 on a touch. Instant crash. No update.

### 1/5 — My moneys wasted

*2011-12-25, version 1.0*

I thought this would be a good app but i ended up just losing 5$ for a peice of junk!

### 1/5 — worthless app

*2011-10-04, version 1.0*

Don't waste your money. This app will not run on iOS 4.2. Crashes immediately.

How do I go about getting my 5 bucks back?

### 2/5 — Unusable in 2024

*2024-07-17, version 1.91*

Honestly, I don’t understand all the positive reviews. This tuner is borderline unusable, maybe it’s due to the updates stopping ages ago, maybe it’s due to the microphone being so much different on iPhone 15, but this tuner cannot be dialed in, no matter what noise filters are on. God forbid you have central air going in the next room, it won’t be able to differentiate its note vs that of the guitar sitting 6 inches away. Only time I’ve ever felt legitimately ripped off on the App Store. Update the app or retire it

### 3/5 — Worked well … not anymore

*2024-11-07*

Then: Worked well. Tuned Guitars, Basses, Drums.
Now: Can’t open it anymore. App closes within a second.

### 4/5 — Annoying display

*2020-11-27, version 1.72*

Accurate app, but the spinning display is very annoying

### 4/5 — Very Good App

*2020-06-27, version 1.72*

I have been an aural tuner for over 30 years. But, as my ears aged, I needed help with the higher partials and about the two upper octaves on the piano. This app is very useful and is easy to use. I have also used the Android version with good results. Recommended.

### 4/5 — Bonne application pour l'accord de piano.

*2014-11-20, version 1.4*

Fonctionne très bien pour la plupart des pianos, mais a un peu difficulté dans les extrêmes basses et dernier octave des aiguës.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Recommended

*2024-12-01, version 1.92*

Won’t pretend that this is the first tuner I reach for, given that I invariably have a clip-on or pedal tuner to hand, or foot, but if you’re thinking of a strobe tuner this does the job brilliantly, and represents fantastic value compared to buying a dedicated unit. If you’re a guitarist at the stage of needing to do or even just tweak your setups, for example, then you can certainly use the extra accuracy and information you get. There’s something of a learning curve, but that’s going to be true for any strobe tuner.

It’s also worth noting that the developer is responsive and helpful. When I upgraded my phone recently the new screen size broke the app’s display, but once I reported that, it was sorted almost immediately.

Unreservedly recommended.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2023-09-04, version 1.91*

Finally able to own an actual strobe tuner, that does exactly what it's supposed to do.
No complaints here.

### 5/5 — Excellent tuner

*2022-12-15, version 1.9*

Best thing a musician can have on his or her iPhone - thanks for a great app Jim!

### 5/5 — Handy little app

*2022-10-04, version 1.82*

Great little app to check the tonality of notes

### 5/5 — Great tuner

*2022-06-27, version 1.82*

The tuner is very easy to use and it provides quite a bit of sophisticated, additional information related to color and temperament.

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2021-05-22, version 1.72*

I have the Peterson professional version tuner. This app competes with it.

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2020-10-05, version 1.72*

It's a great comprehensive app for strobe tuner. I have professional piano tuning software, but this is still extremely useful in many circumstances.

### 5/5 — Excellent and Accurate Tuner!

*2020-06-23, version 1.72*

I use this a lot, and it’s very convenient since it’s on my iPhone. It is always with me, not in my guitar case. I love the Accuracy and simplicity!
No problem until writing this review. It is making me make up a nickname!

### 5/5 — Very Impressive Tuner

*2020-06-09, version 1.71*

If you’re looking for an outstanding tuner then try this!
No joke - it’s like no other tuner I’ve ever used before - very functional and deadly accurate.
Obviously written by someone who understands their craft - highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Perfect tuning app

*2020-05-24*

I constantly use this app to tune Native American Style flutes. A very big advantage is being able to see the harmonics of a note which shows me where slight adjustments need to be made. There are so many features available for very fine tuning. I would rate the calibration feature a “++” allowing for perfect environmental tuning. Hands down one of the best apps available for instrument making.
