The Offshore App allows you to seamlessly download multiple GRIB files for your coastal and offshore passages. Quickly download and view GRIB files, weather routes, GMDSS maps and text forecasts, AIS data and satellite imagery. Access all the world’s top ranking forecast models for reliable and accurate weather data, including ECMWF, SPIRE, UKMO, GFS and more. Our very own PWG & PWE models offer incredible accuracy and a record-breaking 1km resolution. In addition to forecasts, the Offshore App also provides a suite of powerful marine tools to save you time and keep you safe at sea. Weather Routing and Departure Planning is calculated in the PredictWind cloud at the highest resolution. The finished route is then sent back to your boat in an incredibly small file size which is ideal for low bandwidth satellite and SSB connections. The Offshore App works with Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and most satellite connections using an Iridium GO!, Globalstar or Optimizer device. Not sure why you can’t jus cache downloaded GRIBs in the main PredictWind app, but when you do it on here there are all sorts of weird bugs: models not showing up even when you downloaded them, the frame of view constantly resetting when you switch between routes in weather planning mode, model-selection toggle disappearing from the weather routing view, segments of the grib never being available (e.g. PWG 50km wave and satellite imagery never download no matter how long I let them go). I wish they would just integrate offline functionality into the main PW app so we could use the better UI there. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. For any specific concerns, please reach out to support@predictwind.com, and we'll be glad to assist you. ### 1/5 — Complete Fail *2026-02-28* It’s amazing that Predict Wind allows this awful app given the Predict Wind app works so well and smoothly if you have either cell or internet service. There are many reviews here listing the problems in that it is slow and wonky, counter intuitive, confusing, etc. and this is amazing considering how easy the sibling app is to use. What is WRONG with you Predict Wind??? You have customers paying LOTS of money to subscribe and you give us this train wreck of an app. And please don’t respond with contact our customer support bot for a hug! Fix this damn thing! This is not only frustrating but it is dangerous. **Developer response:** Hi Sprint Bob, We're truly sorry for the frustration and safety concerns you have about the Offshore app. Your feedback matters. Our Customer Support bot FIN can connect you to a human immediately if you either tap "Speak with a human", type it into the Support chat or your email reply. Please do this, and we'll be in touch to help. ### 2/5 — PredictWind should be ashamed *2026-01-28* I cruise full time, and find the PredictWind service indispensable. But this app is utterly terrible. It feels like PW abandoned development on it years ago. The interface is kludgy and counterintuitive (still, even though I've had 5 years to get used to it). You can't even do simple things like display wave heights in feet (default is meters, and it can't be changed)... or enable/disable individual weather models for routing. I never want to see UKMO, PWE, or PWG...but they cannot be turned off, and they clutter up and make the graphs confusing, and make the tables needlessly tedious to navigate. If you choose a model to display on the map (say GFS) and then re-run the route, it defaults back to PWG every time. This is all just amateurish, lazy programming. I expect better when I pay for an expensive service (I'm a pro level subscriber). **Developer response:** We want to assist you to get the best out the Offshore App and PredictWind app, it seems like you are having a few issues, please come into support@predictwind.com so we can assist you to get the Offshore App working like you want it too. We are also about to release a new and improved version. ### 1/5 — Not worthy of PredictWind *2025-12-12* PrefictWind’s service, at its core, is great, but their apps are not. (Why do we need separate apps for current, rain, and offshore use anyway???) The offshore app is the worst of them all. It’s only needed for those who are offshore without Starlink. PredictWind apparently thinks, not entirely unreasonably, that adoption of satellite broadband is becoming so widespread that an app for Iridium users just isn’t needed. They seem to have given up on improving this clunky, buggy, incredibly user-unfriendly app. Beware though: if you’re still relying on iridium offshore, even as a backup, you’ll need this app and you’ll be disappointed. Biggest gripe: If you need to make manual additions to your GPS tracking page for any reason, the only way to do it is with this app. The process is painful and buggy. **Developer response:** Hi Robert, thanks for getting in touch. The Offshore App is a critical tool for offshore sailors with Iridium devices. It has everything you need for safe routing. ### 5/5 — Helpful *2024-02-09* Very good app with enough features for ordinary users. ### 1/5 — Company dedicated to failure *2023-10-22* PredictWind keeps making promises but they cause more problems than they can fix. Even their support bot is broken so I couldn’t get past entering my email address. The warning messages are completely covered up by the date on iPhone so the app is useless. Just like everything else they have done, broken by design and unlikely to be fixed anytime soon. ### 1/5 — Not user-friendly at all! *2023-02-02* On install it says ‘GRIB is 1953 dats old’, and it is impossible to figure out what to do next! So since I am forced to write a review, here is my one star for being so insanely expensive. ### 5/5 — Good system. *2021-04-03* I really like the interface and the ability to see the results of the various algorithms so you can average the results for yourself. I would really like it to be able to download information through Garmin InReach like it does through Iridium Go.
