Given how good PredictWind generally is I’m continually annoyed with how clunky this app is. Not sure why you can’t jus cache downloaded GRIBs in the main PredictWind app, but when you do it on here there are all sorts of weird bugs: models not showing up even when you downloaded them, the frame of view constantly resetting when you switch between routes in weather planning mode, model-selection toggle disappearing from the weather routing view, segments of the grib never being available (e.g. PWG 50km wave and satellite imagery never download no matter how long I let them go). I wish they would just integrate offline functionality into the main PW app so we could use the better UI there.

I cruise full time, and find the PredictWind service indispensable.  But this app is utterly terrible.  It feels like PW abandoned development on it years ago.  The interface is kludgy and counterintuitive (still, even though I've had 5 years to get used to it).  You can't even do simple things like display wave heights in feet (default is meters, and it can't be changed)... or enable/disable individual weather models for routing.

I never want to see UKMO, PWE, or PWG...but they cannot be turned off, and they clutter up and make the graphs confusing, and make the tables needlessly tedious to navigate.  

If you choose a model to display on the map (say GFS) and then re-run the route, it defaults back to PWG every time.  

This is all just amateurish, lazy programming.  I expect better when I pay for an expensive service (I'm a pro level subscriber).

Great app in combination with an IridiumGo on iPhone and iPad. For some reason doesn’t work on my iPod Touch. I have reported this to Iridium but it's been months now. Should be an easy bug to fix, no reason for it not to work on the iPod Touch.

After trying for several hours to get this app to work I have deleted from my iPhone.  Tried to enter route south of Australia and could not download files or get a single map to show.  

Help files useless to help me

All maps centered on USA suspect works well there but not in Australia 

Gave up after several hours of hitting head against US-centric app

I use predictwind/offshore application by more than one year. Actually, I have passed 7 seas and I am on the way to cross the Atlantic Ocean. In more than 95%the forecasts have been accurate and the mathematical model used let you a plenty of options to choose a departure schedule or to make a passage.

Perfect for us- we use it as cruising  sailors. Same appearance on phone and computer. Works with WiFi and Satellite connections.

Works well but I suggest a couple of minor improvements:

In departure planning mode it is not possible to focus on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th day departures while playing the timeline - it always focuses on the first one. You could always pause and go to the others but would be really nice to pick one and have the focus stay on it at any given zoom throughout the timeline.

Would be great to be able to do loading on background considering that it can take hours over Iriduim Go and it would be nice to read a book or do something else during this time.

Used both the IOS and Mac version on a recent passage.  

Both were intuitive and seamlessly linked to Iridium Go.   While it is a little easier to add coordinates in the Mac version, I found the convenience of the IPad outweighed this minor inconvenience.

It’s amazing that Predict Wind allows this awful app given the Predict Wind app works so well and smoothly if you have either cell or internet service. There are many reviews here listing the problems in that it is slow and wonky, counter intuitive, confusing, etc. and this is amazing considering how easy the sibling app is to use. What is WRONG with you Predict Wind??? You have customers paying LOTS of money to subscribe and you give us this train wreck of an app. And please don’t respond with contact our customer support bot for a hug! Fix this damn thing! This is not only frustrating but it is dangerous.

### 1/5 — Not worthy of PredictWind

PrefictWind’s service, at its core, is great, but their apps are not. (Why do we need separate apps for current, rain, and offshore use anyway???) The offshore app is the worst of them all. It’s only needed for those who are offshore without Starlink. PredictWind apparently thinks, not entirely unreasonably, that adoption of satellite broadband is becoming so widespread that an app for Iridium users just isn’t needed. They seem to have given up on improving this clunky, buggy, incredibly user-unfriendly app. 

Beware though: if you’re still relying on iridium offshore, even as a backup, you’ll need this app and you’ll be disappointed. 

Biggest gripe: If you need to make manual additions to your GPS tracking page for any reason, the only way to do it is with this app. The process is painful and buggy.

If there's a bug, we'll sort it out. A new version is due out soon. The Offshore App is a critical tool for offshore sailors with Iridium devices. It has everything you need for safe routing.

PredictWind keeps making promises but they cause more problems than they can fix. Even their support bot is broken so I couldn’t get past entering my email address. The warning messages are completely covered up by the date on iPhone so the app is useless. Just like everything else they have done, broken by design and unlikely to be fixed anytime soon.

Old app offered land surfaces in full color topographic format. A great resource for off grid land explorers. Newer downgraded version shows all land surfaces in blue color, making it impossible to easily locate terrain features. Obviously, PredictWind no longer cares about serving land exploration users. Too bad.

Ich wollte in ein paar Stunden zur Überquerung des indischen Ozeans aufbrechen...iridium go und iPad laufen problemlos. Ihr App will kein Wetter über Satellit laden: Fehler Update subscription! Aber wie und warum ist auch nach einstündiger Internet Recherche nicht rauszubekommen. Die Informationen auf ihrer Homepage sind mangelhaft oder unzutreffend. „ sie können das Update umsonst über das App machen“ drücken Sie auf update“ JA WO SOLL DER DENN BITTE SEIN?
Ach 250$ zahlen dann geht es wieder...nein danke!

We can make it work on web but when we go to iridium go it says we have to buy subscription. My understanding it is free?

We have the size of the file only 3 kB

I really like the interface and the ability to see the results of the various algorithms so you can average the results for yourself.    I would really like it to be able to download information through Garmin InReach like it does through Iridium Go.    The next logical step is for total integration with Garmin ( or other similar) MFDs so the PredictWind app sits on the MFD.

Easy to use and straight forward got to be the best routing app on the market. Now the offshore app has the ability to view UKMO forecasts too. My app of choice even if its just for a checking the forecast and not needing to route. That way you get used to using it. Quite like the ability to view GMDSS area forecasts too thats handy for information

UPDATE: Support hatte sich gleich bei mir gemeldet. Nach einigen Versionen in sehr schneller Abfolge scheint das Problem erkannt und behoben. Bin begeistert vom Engagement des Herstellers!

Hatte die App schon länger. Jetzt in Version 3.0.5 stürzt sie 5 Sekunden nach Start ab. Habe gerade ein Jahresabonnement gekauft und kann es nicht nutzen!
