## What is Prelude for Weddings?

Prelude turns your Wedding day schedule into a real-time timeline built for the pace of a live Wedding.

Designed by a Wedding filmmaker, it gives videographers and photographers instant clarity on what's happening now, what's next, and what's coming without ever unlocking your phone.

Paste in any schedule and Prelude sorts it with AI in seconds. From there, your timeline lives on your lock screen as a Live Activity, updating every minute throughout the day.

What Prelude does

Paste a schedule from an email, a document, or a planning app and tap Sort with AI. Prelude reads it, builds your timeline, and gets you ready to shoot.

The Live Activity keeps your next event visible on your lock screen and Dynamic Island the entire day. No tapping, no searching, no second-guessing.

The Quick Tools panel puts three tools a tap away when you need them on location: a live White Balance reader using your camera, a Golden Window compass that shows the exact direction of golden hour light at your venue, and a Current Airspace map for instant drone restriction checks.

Apple Watch support shows your current and next event on your wrist, with haptic cues as events approach.

Photographer and Hybrid roles unlock a Shot List and live Group Shot sharing. Send a checklist to a willing helper before the group photos begin.

Built for the day
Prelude is made by someone who shoots Weddings. Every decision in the app comes from real experience of what it feels like to be on a timeline, in a busy venue, with no margin for confusion.

The schedule lives on your lock screen. Your tools are one tap away. You always know what's next.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.1 — 2026-11-04

Prelude 1.7.1 gives the Live tab a new look, on top of everything in 1.7, one of our biggest updates yet.

New in 1.7.1
The Live Activity control now sits above the tab bar on every tab. Press play to start it, or tap the pill to see what's on. The Live Now, Next and Wedding Info cards are frosted glass over a soft wash of colour, and the tab bar folds away as you scroll. Prelude also starts in °F or °C to match your phone's region, and the wedding date pickers follow it too.

Three Lock Screen styles
The Live Activity has been redesigned, and now comes in three styles. Ring fills as the next event gets closer. Line follows the day along a track. Block puts what's on now up front. Choose yours in Settings, under Notifications. The card also shows golden hour and sunset, marks events where you've set mic targets, and shows times in full on 12-hour phones.

Import from a link
Paste the link to a couple's Dubsado form or a shared Google Doc and Prelude reads the schedule straight from it. Imports also keep going in the background, and Prelude lets you know when your schedule is ready.

Weather on the timeline
Key moments on the Live view now show the forecast, so you'll know if rain is due before the confetti. You can choose how likely rain has to be before an event gets flagged, and tap the header for the full forecast.

Usual events
Tell Prelude what you add to every wedding, like a mic check or a drone flight, and it goes into every schedule you import.

A new sunset forecast
The sunset panel shows how good tonight's sky should look and the best time to take the couple outside. Golden hour times are now worked out the same way everywhere in the app, and they're more accurate outside the UK.

Group shots
Share your group shot list as pictures, and the share link now works even with no signal.

Also new
A fresh welcome for first-time users, sign in with Google, and alternative app icons. The drone airspace tool links to the right map in Australia. Events after midnight, like a last dance at 00:30, now sit on the right day. The Timeline tab's heading reads Schedule, and we've fixed a crash on Apple Watch.

### 1.6 — 2026-09-11

Quick Notes
Catch a thought mid-shoot without stopping. Hold the notes button on the Live screen and talk, or type if you'd rather. Each voice note is transcribed on your phone and syncs with anyone else working the wedding.

Record from your Apple Watch
Raise your wrist and record a note, even when your phone is in a bag across the room. Notes wait on the watch and send themselves once your phone is back in range. You can also add a Record complication that goes straight into recording.

Wedding Party
See everyone you need to know by name on the day: the couple, best man and maid of honour, bridesmaids and ushers, and family, each marked by whose side they're on. Tap a name to call them. Keep private notes on anything sensitive, like divorced parents or a recent loss, so you can call groups with care. Import a questionnaire or schedule and Prelude brings the names, numbers and notes in for you. Emergency Contacts now live here too.

Shot lists for videographers
The shot list isn't just for photographers any more. Turn it on for every wedding in Settings, or for a single wedding in Edit Wedding.

A new Live Activity control
The bar at the bottom of the Live screen is now a small floating control that opens into a card when you need it. On iOS 26 it uses Liquid Glass.

Better PDF imports
Prelude now reads the answers typed into fillable PDF forms, so questionnaires and schedules sent as forms import properly instead of coming through blank.

Apple Watch fixes
Tapping the complication no longer opens a blank screen. The watch now follows your 12 or 24 hour setting, your role on each wedding, and your haptics preference, and shows the current event using the venue's local time.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-08-21

A redesigned Golden Window screen, and schedule imports you can rely on.

The Golden Window screen is now built around a solar dial drawn over your venue's satellite map, so you can see where the evening light will fall before you arrive. Point your phone and the map turns with you to find a clear sightline to the sun.

Schedule import is faster and more dependable. The app now reads PDFs on your device, so long or detailed schedules come through in full. And when something can't be read, it tells you plainly instead of failing quietly.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-17

Prelude now tells you when to leave.

Set your start time and home location, and each wedding shows a live driving ETA with a leave-by time that reads current traffic. A reminder reaches you before you need to go, and opens straight to that wedding's timeline.

Also in this release:

Times, dates and Live Activities are now correct wherever the wedding is in the world.

A redesigned Live view with a clearer Coming Up rail.

A tidier Edit Wedding screen.

More schedules read correctly on the first import.
