So now I have a week of groceries in my fridge with no clue what recipes they are for! Nevermind all if the other recent glitches like not being able to add to the grocery list from the meal planner. So sad. I really rely heavily on this app every day. And there is not a replacement that I've found that I like (compared to when this one was working well), but I might jump ship soon. Very frustrating. The app feels abandoned which is sad because it's such a good concept. ### 3/5 — Used to be amazing but doesn’t work well anymore *2026-02-27, version 26.1.14* I have loved this app and used it for many many years. I loved planning my meals, having it populate to a grocery list, and then being able to shop Walmart grocery directly from there. The last six months to a year, though, there have been so many glitches. It will no longer shot my list for menus that are in the future, and it will no longer shop the Walmart grocery app. I am so sad and frustrated as I have spent years adding all of my recipes to this app. I hope they can fix it. ### 2/5 — Buggy *2026-01-15, version 26.1.14* First, let me start by saying this app has some great features...that is when they work. The web browser especially is glitchy. The entire bottom inch of the window doesn't work. You can visually see the mouse icon change when you hover over that particular area of the screen. Another thing is that the program doesn't have a way to contact support. There is at least a link on the web browser for that, but it leads nowhere. There is no where on the app itself to be able to contact support to put an issue in. ### 2/5 — Not working anymore *2026-01-10, version 26.1.13* Used to be such a great app. Now it has so many glitches. I can’t order from Walmart as the Walmart shopping won’t load in app. Categories don’t display until refresh. Sometimes can’t click buttons, won’t recognize touches and scroll. Quality has really gone downhill, like they’re not using the app to know what needs to be fixed and just doing basic iOS required updates to packets without looking at functionality. Please fix or I’m cancelling my subscription and moving all my recipes. ### 2/5 — Used to be great… *2026-01-05, version 26.1.12* I’ve used this app for years and have so many recipes in it! Now I think it’s no longer being maintained. And there’s no way to log a support request. I’ll be migrating elsewhere. ### 3/5 — Recent updates *2026-01-04, version 26.1.12* The recent updates have completely screwed with the functionality of the app. Cannot quick save a note as the save button is covered by the keyboard with no way to minimize the keyboard. At times, the app window is too big for the phone screen, making it difficult to use the features at the top of the screen. This app worked great before these updates. The ability to adjust recipes based on desired servings in a real benefit. Really surprised the app does not adjust to landscape mode, especially for an iPad. I also think the app is a little rough in other ways such as only being able to sort recipes that are not in cookbooks. I need the shopping list on my phone. I’m not going to drag my iPad to the store! My iPad just remembers me and opens up but my phone keeps saying I have an account in google. I’m sick I’ve paid $120 and it won’t work on my phone. ### 3/5 — Is it worth it? *2023-10-13, version 23.8.1* The most frustrating thing about this app is it’s inability to import recipes without getting the “bummer” error. The site you requested asked us not to store the recipe on their site. I found this error is only with this app. The price for a yearly membership is ridiculous. I’ve been going between the site, the email and the app for 10mins trying to find where to cancel. The help page apparently doesn’t work either as I’ve received an error message. Now when I hit the feedback or comment section, it is an incorrect web link so there is no way to get help with this anymore! I have Aton of recipes saved in here and I’m struggling transferring them to a different app. DO NOT sUBSCRIBE! They are awful! I wish I could get my money back! ### 1/5 — Used to love it. *2023-01-15, version 23.1.1* I really used to love it. I've had a Gold membership for several years, but now its constantly telling me to upgrade to gold. Why upgrade if I have to see all of the ridiculous ads? I tried to get help and it says I don't have a purchase to help with. Apple says my upgrade is good until March 🙄 ### 3/5 — Good Features Disappeared *2023-01-12, version 23.1.1* The new update removed my gold features, and when I try and restore them the app crashes. ### 4/5 — Best online recipe app I’ve used *2022-12-20* I’ve really enjoyed using PrePear so far, and am thankful they haven’t completely eliminated the free user option (as has happened to me 2x with other apps). My only quibble is that the iPad app *still* doesn’t have landscape mode, which is the only way I use my iPad when cooking. So I just have to use the desktop mode, and I find that sometimes it freezes or hangs and I have to reload the page to get all my recipes to load. But otherwise I love that you can import recipes from blogs, which works for about 75-80% of the blogs I frequent. (Developers, please feel free to tell me if I just missed where I can switch to landscape mode in the app!) ### 2/5 — just ok - marginally *2022-11-19, version 22.11.1* The inability to copy and paste ingredients and instructions into another app dings it a lot. I sent the link to my husband (who does not have the app) in order to copy / paste and it wouldn’t even open the recipe from the web. The UI’s clean, and the connection to Walmart’s online shopping is neat. In the last year numerous bug have cropped up and now I used apple to renew my membership at gold but none of the features are accessible. I tried emailing support multiple times and got no response after two weeks. Very disappointed because I loved the app. Guess I will start looking for a replacement that cares about return customer. ### 1/5 — What happened to this app? *2026-07-11, version 2.4.5* I used to love this app and was a paid subscriber for many years. Recently, it’s seemed pretty glitchy, but I figured I’d give it one more try before moving on to something else. I tried to subscribe through the website, but kept getting an error, so I figured I’d just subscribe through the app. Well, I’ve now been charged $120 and have no access to the “gold” features. All the meal plans are still locked, I still have ads, and I don’t have the “Prepear” mode. It doesn’t seem like this app is being updated or supported anymore, so I wouldn’t waste your money. Hopefully I can get a refund since it’s no longer working, but I would steer clear! ### 1/5 — Won’t save personal recipes and can’t delete account *2026-06-01, version 2.4.5* I signed up to save some of my recipes and create a meal plan. I added a recipe but unfortunately couldn’t save it after entering all the required details. Being of no use to me, I then proceeded to delete my account but couldn’t. Kept clicking on the delete account button and nothing would happen. I understand there are limitations with free versions but to not be able to enter and save a single recipe nor have the option to delete my account is pretty bad! ### 1/5 — App Decline *2026-05-16, version 2.4.5* EDIT 5/16/26 - UNABLE TO CANCEL! I have been a $99 subscriber for many years however it is time for me to move on. I received my annual renewal notice email for a 5/12/26 date. I have attempted to change my subscription Setting to free version but am unable to. The buttons are there but there if no effect when I click on them. I have messaged customer service multiple times with no response. Now, there subscription appears to have renewed as 5/12/26 has passed, and they renewal date on the billing page now says 5/12/2027. Just seeing a blank page. In the iPhone app, I lost 4 months of meals in my planner. Reaching out for help is very hard to find. When I finally found an email, I got an automated reply but have not heard form a human (or even a bot) in over 24 hours. No more stress about what I’m making each night. No more running to the store for missing ingredients when I’m cooking. I have my saved recipes, I can search for anything, I can add new recipes! Spectacular! ### 5/5 — THE BEST! *2022-08-07* I’m amazed how well it’s made. I tried to upload a recipe from anywhere else, and almost perfectly adjusted ingredients/measurements and such in few seconds! Meal planning section is connected with Walmart app, that’s so wonderful and my grocery trip is done in 10 min. I also try to make my own cookbooks so that this is the only place I need when I cook. So many great recipes from food bloggers, I’m having fun discovering. Foodnetwork actually tried similar thing and recently gave up and discontinued their subscription, that I understand why — so many annoying issues between their app and their partners apps(Amazon, Instacart, etc.) I do not see any of issues I had with Food Network here, so well made for all people, bloggers, and just a busy mom like me. Btw, you don’t need to pay for subscription, still tons of recipes accessible. I LOVE IT! ### 5/5 — Best to share recipes *2021-12-26, version 21.10.1* Organizing recipes can be tedious. Websites spread out the ingredients and directions and I never remember where I found them the next time I need them. Prepear allows me to load in recipes from the internet or enter my own, organize them, and share them with friends and family. Even a Non- Cook like me found it easy 🤣 ### 5/5 — Updated: Wonderful App with a few Minor Bugs *2021-10-18* The one issue I had with this app, see below, was fixed before I posted this review. With the latest update everything works great! So many things to love! 1)I absolutely love that I can create a shopping list directly from the ingredients of recipes with a click of a button! Then I can shop Walmart grocery (which is my preferred grocery right now) in the app. Each ingredient is displayed separately with options from Walmart on what to purchase. If I need more information as I’m shopping I can click on the ingredient and it brings up the info from the recipes, yes, each recipe it’s in. Only problem: right now I can’t checkout in the app, but I am able to checkout in the Walmart app. It doesn’t bother me too much because I usually need to shop for other things on the Walmart app anyway. 2) Using the recipes during cooking is wonderful! Before this app, I had started printing or writing out recipes because I have a hard time cooking with all the scrolling and my device shutting down. This is by far better than paper! I can see the ingredients list at the same time as the recipe, which is genius. I can also cross out what I’ve used or done by clicking on it. It’s one of the ways my four year old likes to help. Cook mode in the app is great. 3) The reason for me taking off one star is because when I try to filter recipes, cookbooks, etc., one of the features that I rely on in most other apps and websites, doesn’t work right now. When I click that I’m done, the app closes and my filters have been forgotten. Shaved my weekly meal planning to about 10 minutes! All my recipes in one place. Exports my shopping list to my Walmart delivery app. The app let's you set reminders and alarms for things! There are adjustable serving sizes and left of recipes to choose from! I love being able to add any recipe I find online to my cookbooks and access them. Update: i started with the free trial on six sisters. I immediately started getting emails for prepear gold.
