### 3/5 — Powered flight questions for glider pilot

*2026-06-15, version 1.60*

I’m studying for my Private Glider Pilot license. Even though I’ve selected PGL, questions that are obviously for powered pilots show up occasionally, 5% to 10% of the time. This is extremely frustrating. I may consider using a different app.

### 4/5 — Worth the money

*2025-10-09*

I just got a 80 on my PAR using this and the computer version. I say it’s great to study on the go. I know it’s not the best score but it’s a passing score. And I’m happy with it! The hard part about using it on the phone is doing any course plotting is hard since the screen is so small and you can’t really see the maps so well and put your plotter on top to practice but if you screen shot and send the image to your iPad it helps. Good luck!

### 3/5 — I wouldn’t rely solely on this

*2025-08-01*

I got a 90% on my PAR written exam today but that’s after memorizing everything this app had to offer and learning some basics of flying in the aircraft. 1/3 of the questions I’ve either never seen were in the test, or the the questions and answers were worded very differently from Prepware. I think the FAA has finally caught on to students rote memorizing Prepware questions to pass the written instead of understanding the material and using critical thinking.

### 3/5 — Good but missing essential questions for the written exam

*2024-10-28, version 1.59*

.

### 3/5 — There are much better alternatives

*2024-10-14*

If you get down every question on here you’re likely to pass at least. But understand it’s missing a large amount of questions. It’s much better to bite the bullet for something nicer like Shepard Air. I understand the convenience of the app but you won’t regret passing over it in lieu of better. Overall it’s okay in performance, even though its interface is very limited and low quality. Just understand this should not be your only lifeline, only a convenient supplement.

### 3/5 — Different questions from the PAR test

*2024-01-23*

I just took the exam two days ago, and during the exam, I came across almost 15 questions or more that I was seeing for the first time. Maybe because the new year has just started and they have updated the exam questions but this is definitely something prepware should look at

### 3/5 — Great, except the VOR questions

*2023-10-24, version 1.56*

Studying for US fixed wing PPL. Some questions that require drawing a line between 2 fixes can’t be done accurately because I can’t see the entire chart on my tablet, nor can I zoom out

### 3/5 — Macbook app not working properly

*2023-10-20, version 1.56*

The app for on the macbook has a bunch of bugs and not all the features work. otherwise love the app super useful and beneficial.

### 4/5 — Worth it… for the most part.

*2023-08-13*

I’m studying over 700 questions from this app, and I’ve noticed that some answers are just wrong. It only took a quick google search to prove their answers wrong. These wrong answers are very inconsistent though, despite them, this app seems very dependable, material wise. The mechanics of the app itself could use some work, but, I don’t regret buying it.

### 4/5 — Good app but could get better support from ASA

*2022-10-07*

App is very useful in studying for the exam. Private pilot questions are pretty accurate. Their other apps, like instrument, have erroneous questions, outdated questions, missing figures. Worst of all, now the status bar at the top has a bug in which the text font is black on black background. So your score is not visible! I have to tell my students to switch the iPad to dark mode to see their score. All of these bugs need to be fixed and the developer needs to be more responsive to get a higher rating.

### 3/5 — Nothing beats ASA prep... but...

*2022-09-26*

I've taken some practice tests for the FAA PAR written exam via the Sporty's app and also on the ASA site. When I saw the ASA app the purchase was a no-brainer. ASA's test prep is stellar. Their test prep books are the gold standard. Their practice tests rise above those on the Sporty's app. (The test questions seem harder on ASA- which is good.) However, the ASA iPad app disappointed me a bit: The practice tests on the app don't "score" your grade - just highlight the wrong answers. I expected practice tests akin to their website, which not only scores your grade but scores each topic area individually and provides a green/yellow/red strength/weakness report by topic. Therefore, I'm only giving this app 3 stars.

### 3/5 — They don’t fix errors.

*2021-03-22*

I have found several questions to have wrong answers. They even conflict with the exact same question in the book. I have taken the time to submit several of these questions and pictures of the errors etc. Here we are over 1 1/2 years later and the STILL haven’t fixed the answers.

### 2/5 — Question crossover

*2020-12-05, version 1.53*

Received questions in the rotorcraft sections that were completely incorrect as they referred fixed-wing regulations. Many instances of irrelevant of gyrocopter and fixed-wing questions in the rotorcraft section. Does not display correct/incorrect answers properly with dark theme enabled on phone.

### 4/5 — New update degraded the app!!!

*2020-10-05, version 1.53*

This a great learning tool for taking tests but the most recent update degraded the app a bit, the interface looks pretty bad and the right answers are not highlighted anymore when you get a question wrong. With the highlights the purpose of the app is defeated.

PLEASE REVERT BACK TO THE OLD VERSION

### 2/5 — White on white questions?

*2020-08-21, version 1.52*

Why are the questions fomt color white on top of a light background they are so hard to see!!!!!

### 4/5 — Dark Mode hard to read

*2020-06-26, version 1.52*

White text on gray background is just murder on the eyes... please fix. Other than that it’s exactly what I needed

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Do not buy...

*2025-01-19, version 1.59*

I haven't yet used the mobile version of this app but judging by the desktop version, I don't expect it to be worth anywhere near $10.
You can't exit from Study flashcard deck without closing the deck, and it doesn't even save your marked cards or quiz results (in Study mode).
$10 is a lofty price for some lousy code. You can find all of these questions on the King free test website.

### 1/5 — Please fix grading

*2023-11-26, version 1.57*

On the study portion while taking the exam the app gives you the answer and it does allow you to push through without selecting the right option. So instead allowing to take it and then see what you need work on after grading you will always get 100% which defeats the purpose.

### 1/5 — Unreadable

*2020-08-18, version 1.52*

Bought this app that a fellow student found. Downloaded it and tried to use i5. When I go to study part, it has a light background and white lettering for the questions. I can’t make out the questions. Tried contacting tech support via this app 3x with no response.

### 1/5 — Please fix text.

*2020-05-26, version 1.52*

When the device is in dark more the app is almost impossible to use. Why would it make sense to put white text on a light gray background??? The app was great until it updated and now when I’m studying or doing the practice tests and my iPad is in dark mode, I have to hurt my eyes trying to concentrate on the words...

### 1/5 — Version 1.52 Bug

*2020-05-19, version 1.52*

I’ve been using this app to study for my private pilots knowledge test and I loved it up until the new update. The question and answers are in white in front of a white background which makes it impossible to read. I’ve tried deleting the app and re-downloading, but to no avail. Please fix this

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2019-05-17, version 1.49*

Primitive app. Doesn’t have any sort of function that stops showing you questions you already know, so you’ll waste tons of time re-covering content you’ve already learned.

### 1/5 — No Review

*2019-01-10, version 1.49*

If you get one wrong, it doesn’t let you review your wrongs and correct them. Computer version is better

### 1/5 — Has errors

*2014-08-08, version 1.33*

Some of the questions that need referencing sectional charts are off. For example, it'll ask for the CTAF frequency for Redbird airport, but the correct frequency as shown on the chart isn't one of the multiple choices. Or you'll be ask to refer to section 6 on the chart, but section 6 isn't on the chart provided. I have other ASA products and expected more from this established company and brand. They should know better than to release a half-baked product. I've had the app for over a year, so they've had time to issue an update to fix these problems, but it doesn't seem like they are supporting this app.

### 1/5 — Poor app.

*2011-05-15, version 1.22*

About the only good thing that I can say about this app compared to the GroundSchool app that I ended up mostly using is that this one cost less. other than that, I found it pretty buggy .. For example, when you click on "grade" it gives you a box "do you want to grade" but only one choice essentially.. Yes. Howeve,r the biggest problem is the explanations. They are generally little more than restatements of the correct answer, and none are illustrated, it's particularly bad for flight planning questions.. It's basically impossible to learn those, weather, weight and balance, and performance questions since the explanations are so meager. This app is clearly aimed only at those who want to memorize, not learn.

### 2/5 — Okay Questions but Weak Features

*2022-01-20, version 1.55*

The questions are well put together and make good sense. The issue is that the app is very weak in terms of letting you see how you have been doing, having intelligence to focus you on areas you struggle, etc. if the features within the application matured, this would be a top-notch application as the questions are solid.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great practice for the harder questions.

*2026-06-29*

I bought other courses outside this app on the $300 range and the test between the 2 was very close. I appreciated this app far more as it focused on the harder questions. It made me read the charts and got me very familiar the testing supplement figures. I highly recommend it. Was able to finish with a 93% on the PAR.

### 5/5 — 93 on my PAR today

*2025-07-01*

Worth every penny! Used this over the last two weeks as a final prep to my PAR exam. There was 4 total questions on my exam that this app didnt have. All others were either word for word or close enough I was rest.

Amazing app

### 5/5 — GOTCH YA

*2025-04-03*

Hell yaa i love doing my ppl twice

### 5/5 — The best!

*2024-04-20*

I passed the examination 10 years ago with this particular app! Thanks a lot!

### 5/5 — GODS GIFT TO PILOTS!

*2023-11-16, version 1.57*

If you’re in ground school get this app

### 5/5 — 10/10 would recommend

*2023-01-31*

Every single question on my written was on the app, granted they were worded a little differently but if you understand the question then the answer becomes clear. Same numbers as the written for the calculations again the only difference we’re how things were worded. I would highly recommend studying using this app!!!!

### 5/5 — I got a 93%!!!

*2021-11-18, version 1.55*

That’s right I got a flipping 93% on my first attempt and it’s mostly thanks to this app and YouTube (and of course a good CFI)!!! I used this during lunch breaks for weeks and took practice exams. Woot!

### 5/5 — Best studying resource out there!

*2021-08-20*

App was a godsend, studied exclusively on this app and passed with a 95%. Questions are eerily similar to the real one. Choose this one instead of sporty’s because ASA is more prominent and prints almost all the materials out there, so why not go with source.

### 5/5 — Gave me the knowledge to get 98% on my written!

*2021-04-23*

Prepware does a wonderful job of helping me to practice for the exams, and I love being able to save my exam if I have to quit in the middle of one. I just hit save and exit then next time I open the app I have the resume button right on the main screen!

### 5/5 — Great

*2020-12-18, version 1.53*

Exact questions as written exam. Only 10 or so different ones on real exam but this gives you the tools to figure those out too
