### 2/5 — All that’s missing...

*2020-09-15, version 1.0.3*

This app would be SO much more useful if you could also export tracks from your PC/Mac to the iPad. As it stands you can only record and transfer from the iPad to your desktop Studio One setup, so if want to use an existing backing track from your desktop for recording you’re out of luck. I would happily pay for the upgraded version if it had this feature.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2020-03-17*

So I bought the audio box ione, great product, then I went to record on here... I have had the worst time ever doing this! The metronome is super quiet, you have to pay 10 bucks to get more then one track, you only have 7 hours to record, really difficult to change how guitar sounds, and worst of all the guitar in the first place randomly stops recording, and decides to shut off the app. Very disappointed

### 2/5 — Studio One is the Loneliest number

*2019-07-21*

Why are there no ways to Help in Studio ONE Artist

### 2/5 — Not maintained

*2017-11-17*

I’m having the problem that others are...the inability to delete old sessions. No update in a year and this problem has been around for longer than that, judging from forum posts. Deleting this app.

### 2/5 — No Importing Files

*2017-06-30, version 1.0.2*

I was really excited to find this because I thought I could use it to record my guitar playing over backing tracks. It records very well. Easy to use. BUT and this is a big one --- there is not way to import audio into the app.

If you go online there is a workaround but way too many steps to be practical.

Too bad. It's a deal-breaker for me.

R

### 2/5 — Not audiobus comparable

*2016-11-14, version 1.0.2*

This would be a great app if it allowed you to record within audiobus. If you just want to record audio into it then master it on a computer it's a good piece of kit, however I think presonos are missing a trick here by not making it audiobus compatible.

### 1/5 — Virtual Island

*2016-03-03, version 1.0*

Unless you use Presonus One on a desktop, this app is useless. You can't even send to Presonus Notion on the same iPad.

### 2/5 — One GLARING omission

*2015-08-19*

App is very easy to use with a clear layout. Transfers to Mac and via wifi opens up trouble free in Studio One. Fantastic concept, but it's useless to me due to a HUGE omission. Can't import an audio track to Capture Duo. If I'm on the road and someone needs background tracks ASAP Capture Duo is useless if I can't import a reference mix. Glaring oversight on the part of Presonus. PLEASE add import audio function. Happy to pay extra $$.

### 2/5 — Importing From Studio One

*2015-03-28, version 1.0*

It’s great to export from Capture into Studio One, But it would even greater to export from Studio One to Capture as well. Seems this was overlooked in the design.
I’d rate the app 5 star if was upgraded

### 1/5 — Could be

*2015-02-26, version 1.0*

This could be a great app, but without audiobus or inter app, or even a paste option it's useless to me. I just got into studio one, I love it and was ready to love this. Ah, so it goes, unrequited love.

### 3/5 — midi..?

*2015-01-26*

I would buy the full app in a heartbeat if it allowed you to record at least 2 tracks of audio with a midi track simultaneously, I am a recent Studio one convert, sounds better than any other daw, so it would be an amazing tool for recording live ,I need to record midi from my guitar also, currently I have to use n- tracks which is pretty goofy, but seems to be the only app with this capability

### 1/5 — Needs support to import a track from Studio One

*2015-01-03*

This could be a great app, but it is missing one of most important features to me: import a track from the Studio One, so I can use it as playback while recording using the Ipad. When they add this feature I will change this review to 5 stars.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2014-11-25, version 1.0*

I was finally able to record a track without the app randomly stopping for no reason. Then trying to play it back it keeps stopping like the iPad can't handle it. Worthless

### 1/5 — What does it do?

*2014-11-17, version 1.0*

Why would anyone download this? It has no instruments, no effects, no audio us, no inter-app audio - so what exactly is it for?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Boo

*2022-10-02*

This app is so crippled where do I begin?OK, you get two tracks lol wow so I’m fine with that because I have other real DAWs but I thought I would try it with my audio box just because I’m not much of a vocalist and most of my music is electronic made by hardware, some software, and a heck of a lot of apps. So I’m thinking maybe I should upgrade to 32 tracks until I realized that you can’t do anything with the tracks you’ve recorded. I can’t send them to audio share. I can’t audio copy. I can’t copy from this App and paste into another app. Unless I decide to use their “wireless“ studio then I’m basically stuck with tracks that I don’t really have any thing to do with because it’s the most basic track recorder I’ve ever used in my life for the iPad. I mean memos gives you more options. So no I am not going to spend $10 on 32 tracks that I will be able to do nothing with except crop and then get more pre sound stuff on my computers to hopefully be able to do something with what I’ve recorded whether it be vocals or instruments. I have other personas boxes for that. This one was meant for portability and iPad only.

I am not new to iOS audio. I’ve beta tested probably 30 to 40 audio apps over the past 12 years and I own at least 100 audio apps. So, unless there’s some secret way to export a track into say garage band, Multi track, music studio, or any other DAW then I would sure love to know because I feel real stupid.

### 1/5 — In accessibility

*2021-12-26*

I am giving your app a 1 star rating today because I tried to download your app to use it only to realize I couldn't use it. As a blind musician in search of a good quality microphone I can record and make music with, I was excited to get this and try it out, but upon opening your app and trying to use it on my iPad and iPhone, I was utterly disappointed in the result. I use VoiceOver on the apple devices I have, and when I opened the app, it wouldn't talk at all, therefore making your app extremely inaccessible for blind users not only on the iPad but on every other apple device. When I read the features of the Audio Box Presonus Studio ITwo, I thought the microphone sounded like a really cool piece of equipment to use, however, blind musicians like me cannot use it due to the inaccessible app. With that being said, please consider how you make/develop your apps so they are accessible to everyone. Have a great day!

### 1/5 — No play back

*2021-06-13*

How do you use this without a playback function.

### 1/5 — Upgrade you app IOS 14 is out

*2021-02-02, version 1.0.3*

This app has the same issue with PreSonus Capture that only has one setting of 44.1khz when it should have 3 settings.

This app is not working with current IOS

Need to update

Capture has same issue and has not been updated since 2016

Refund or upgrade both apps

### 1/5 — Great audio interface, awful app

*2020-07-15*

No import or export of your files. Requires additional software to use export. No help/faq. Don’t waste your time. I use the Presonus interface with my DAW, and use a different app to create a stereo mix mp3.

### 1/5 — Badly needs some TLC

*2018-01-04, version 1.0.2*

Constantly locks up and becomes unresponsive on iPad Pro 2.

### 1/5 — Returning my hardware

*2017-08-18*

I suppose I should have done more research. As the app can't be used to import a file I'm not able to effectively multitrack record with my iPad. I could record individual tracks over a metronome and send them to my PC but not over a drum loop I made on my PC. Makes this useless for my purpose.

### 1/5 — Deeply Disappointed

*2017-02-24*

Capture was a primary factor in my decision to purchase PreSonus over another vendor. The ability to easily work with minimal equipment was very attractive. I thought, for example, I would be able to import a track and record vocals or another instrument while away from my computer. Alas, no! There is no import feature, therefore I would need to connect to my computer to record drums, or anything else I want to work with. Not only does this take longer and reduce the quality of a digital creation, but makes the iPad superfluous. If I have to have my computer to source the drums or other clip, why not just use the DAW on the computer in the first place. I hope PreSonus realizes this soon and fixes it.

### 1/5 — This is a joke right?

*2016-07-15*

Who the heck is in charge at Presonus? I've been holding off from buying Capture, the paid version with 32 tracks, until Audiobus or Inter App Audio is added so I can use others IOS synths and apps with it, so I don't need to use an external audio interface and a second IPad or device to record..... But Presonus doesn't seem to really understand the needs of people who use the IPad for music production... Too bad, I guess they don't want me to buy the full version.

### 1/5 — Guitar won't record

*2016-05-15, version 1.0*

I have all my levels set correctly on the Audiobox iTwo. I can even hear my guitar. For some reason it won't record. Nothing on the app tells me that it's even trying to read my guitar. Maybe they stopped supporting the app?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple and useful

*2025-03-20*

I like using this to grab Sound’s quickly and throw it into a sampler. too many people whining about stupid things in the reviews. This is not supposed to be another DAW. It does its job just fine for me.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-09-14, version 1.0.3*

I’ve used this to record 2 albums so far. Easy to use and imports directly to studio one with no problems. You can check out our recordings at outofthevoid.ca or on YouTube. Highly recommended for home recording.

### 5/5 — Simple, Free and Very Useful

*2015-11-01, version 1.0*

You can use your iPad as a location recorder and transfer wirelessly into Presonus Studio on your desktop or laptop for editing, mixing, mastering, multi tracking - whatever. You need a mic, or even better an audio interface - I'm using a Behringer iStudio, which has been reviewed as poor in the UK but I find it excellent for simple audio recording. Although there are multitrack recording apps for iPads I find I am hopeless at multitracking and editing with them, but with this I can record a live stereo track in my folk club, and then transfer to Studio to edit and polish up the recordings. This app is perfect for me.

### 5/5 — Works very well...

*2014-10-30*

So far this has worked with Guitar Jack 2 (with mono and stereo mics) and the Apogee MiC as well as the built in mic. Easy to use, nice graphics, great help screen that you can easily access, you can either record two mono or stereo tracks separately. Expand the waveform window with pinch/zoom gestures and basic cut/copy/delete/duplicate/split functions. Pretty darn good for a free app. I would like to see a gain control for the input. Also, you can drag the files from iTunes, but they're .caf files - Presonus's Studio One software can deal with them and I assume there'll be a few converters out there, but I wish there was an option for standard .wav format files. I'd also like the ability to drag and move selections - but hey, it's still pretty good for free software. No glitches that I've seen on the iPad Air 7.1. Most definitely worth a look.

Edit: Also works well with a Tascam im2 and an Edirol UA25 - but you'll need a powered usb hub for that and set the 'advanced' switch to off. (And you'll need Apple's female USB to lightning lead). Another feature I'd love to see on this is a foward to end of recording button.

### 5/5 — Highly Recommended

*2014-07-29*

I love the way that you can record with a click and then upload to StudioOne and everything is locked to the grid. I'm also glad that this works with or without an interface. Sometimes is just nice to use the internal microphone. But if you have an AudioBox iOne or iTwo, it's perfect.

### 5/5 — Great!!!

*2014-07-19*

Simple and useful. I like the feature that allow me to transfer my project from my ipad to my PC. Great idea.

### 5/5 — This might do it

*2014-07-17, version 1.0*

First impressions very positive. Recorded basic track and synced to S1 effortlessly. I will now try to do multi track and see if it lines everything up properly. I use S1pro and usually Auria to record, but importing is a drag.
Couple of issues: I guess it should be obvious that an upgrade would be necessary, but I like to be reminded about stuff like that. Also, you might want to actually say that it's now S1-3. Is that not kinda a big step?
Finally, Presonus, Improve the Damn Meters!
No one on the iPad does metering and gain staging well, yet it is the single most important aspect of iOS recording. Give me calibrated meters, or large, detachable floating meters, or better yet, vu meters with the ability to switch between DBFS and dbu
.

### 4/5 — Excellent workflow enhancer!

*2014-07-20*

Excellent! Adding file import or music app integration would make it superb! How about a slim down mastering section? S1 upload feature is awesome! Workflow enhancer for S1 users! Thanks Presonus. Guess I have to get the new Audiobox. 👍👍😎

### 3/5 — Love it - but needs a fix

*2016-07-04*

The app works exactly as it should - super simple to use to record tunes through the Presonus interface. Copy tracks over to my Mac via wifi for editing - awesome! I'd giv it 5 stars except...

The latest update has a problem. I have limited space on my iPad and want to delete old sessions but the "edit" function works in this version only sometimes. I can't delete old sessions - I can only change the name. It's like the delete button is turned off. Please fix!

### 3/5 — Works

*2016-06-27*

Works fine for what it is. Love Presonus stuff. Wish that you could save or send as an MP3 as well. If you aren't using this with the studio one it doesn't do much for you other than give you a place for ideas.
