Good range of newspapers and magazines available. Shame you can’t filter by language/country. Also, screenshots are limited to 4, which is v low, 8 would be better. ### 4/5 — On a PC *2026-08-02, version 8.3.2* Navigating through newspapers on a PC is a pain and needs improvement. The mouse scroll should act as zoom but instead it changes pages. When zoom is achieved in should stay in zoom as one changes pages ### 3/5 — More attention to detail in the scrolling version would be great *2026-07-23, version 8.3.2* The app is really good at turning magazine pages into a scrolling, interactive experience suited to a phone. However, there are obvious issues, for example with The Economist a lot of pages end up with ‘Contents’ in their heading because it hasn’t understood the layout properly. I do understand that from a technical POV it’s very difficult to build a system that accommodates all layouts automatically. However, I’d also argue that from a product POV there are a relatively small number of publications that are advertised as flagships — The Economist being one of them — so why not dedicate some time to understanding those most popular magazines’ layouts and doing them justice? It is a benefit to PressReader too as it will improve retention. I do find myself wincing at the layout issues when I’ve also used the newspaper’s own app which lays it out properly, and eventually might decide it’s better to just pay the magazine directly. ### 3/5 — Newspaper *2026-07-18, version 8.3.1* Different clicks provide different info for the same day same paper. ### 4/5 — Good Interface but… *2026-07-02, version 8.3.1* I’ve use the app for almost 10 years now. It provides me everyday reading on my favorite newspapers and magazines with 1 price which is great. However, since you have copyright restrictions for not allowing taking screenshots, would you please find a way for me to read foreign magazines with translation function? I know it’s fine for newspaper that you use select the text mode and choose to translate but it’s not possible for image base Japanese magazines. The app pulls from outlets across the political spectrum and presents them side by side, often on the same story. This matters. Reading a single account of an event creates the illusion of complete understanding; reading three or four exposes the gaps, the framing choices, and the facts that didn't make every cut. PressReader makes that comparison effortless rather than burdensome. The interface stays out of the way. Stories are organized by topic, not algorithm-driven outrage, and the source labeling is clear enough that you always know whose lens you're looking through. Load times are fast, and the offline reading mode is a genuine convenience for travel. For anyone who wants to stay informed without retreating into a single outlet's worldview, this is a strong tool. To have to pay twice is unreasonable. ### 1/5 — Individual Issues and Followed Publications don’t Sync across Devices, Appalling Support *2026-07-19, version 8.3.1* I prefer reading a whole magazine/newspaper vs individual articles, and when I heard about this app, I thought it’d suit my preferences nicely. So I was dismayed to find out that the app would only work well on one device. Since the default subscription does not cover all publications, I have to purchase e.g. the Economist separately. When I try to access them on another device however, the app does not recognize that I’ve purchased them, instead requiring me to pay for them again. And there is no syncing your library across devices, nor is the search function very effective as it seems to hide/show certain publications at random without telling you transparently regional availability on any of them. When I contacted PressReader support on the issue, the rep seemed more oblivious than I was about how the app works, yet despite his negligence, he responded at first to my concerns as if I were a total idiot. It’s appalling that such a popular platform has not had a simple library syncing feature figured out. That alone would only be annoying, but my experience with the app is made so much worse by the incompetent support. ### 1/5 — Reading with library login is broken *2026-07-09, version 8.3.1* I can log in with my library account, but can no longer access the papers and magazines that I should be able to. The current app version isn’t available, but the old version of the app worked fine. Alas, it’s now no longer possible to sign in to my library; the sign in pop-up is just a blank white page. Credit to the developers for supporting an old device for so long!
