We were on a trip and the first few we found were fine, but one that we went to with just a few miles left ended up being on a gated manufacturing facility with no access, even though the app said it had no issues. We were just a few miles from being stranded when we found the next one that we worked. Another place we went had access but the chargers needed some kind of authorization that the app did not provide. In addition, presto advertises cheaper prices than available, but every experience we had the advertised price on the app was the same or more expensive than the charger itself. Beware, however: many stations are marked up on Presto then “discounted” back to what you’d pay on the native app. The Presto UI is just trash. No way to hide the keyboard so you can submit a charger problem report. Every single person that I’ve encountered at the station using the OTHER APP has been experiencing issues. Never with presto 💕. I pull up , plug in , and that’s it. It was pretty frustrating at first, but their customer service completely turned things around. I reached out to Presto support, and they responded quickly. They were able to verify my payment method on their end and remotely start the charging session for me. The whole process only took a few minutes, and they charged my card afterward without any issues. Honestly, this was some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in a while. But why would I use the app if it cost more to charge??? Typical charging cost is .72 per kw through charge point app. Use presto it’s .79 plus a $1 charging session! Claims to save 45% off peak hours but price doesn’t adjust!!! I usually use the EVgo but they’ve totally changed their rates. Now even at 3 o’clock in the morning I’m being charged $.51 per with Presto I get The same charger at $.31 per. EV go has also moved to where the only way you can get a discount is by signing up for a monthly fee service. And now they’ve also added $.99 per session. I used to be able to charge at the EVgo stations early in the morning for $.31 per and now it’s $.51 unless I join one of their monthly payment plans. I’ve already let EVgo know that I won’t be using them but I’m not telling them about this service because I don’t want them to discontinue letting Presto give us discounts. But Evie EVGO used to be awesome now not at all. So thanks Presto for letting me continue to get awesome discounts. As a 4 to 5 a day per week driver, I really want to thank you for making my expenses a lot less. I would give you 10 stars if I could! And I definitely wanna give a shout out to your customer service because every single time, which has few compared to EVgo on their own, I’ve needed them they have never been able to fail me. First of all, they partnered with not only all of the major players out there in the EV world (ChargePoint, EVGo, Blink, Electrify America, etc) but made it STUPID easy to find a charger by putting them all on a map with all of the different rates that they charge so you can very quickly see and evaluate which charger meets your specific needs! In my case I have a Chevrolet Bolt that only charges at maximum of up to 50kw, and I can actually weed out slower chargers from unnecessarily faster chargers that charge at 100kw+ making finding a charger that meets MY needs INFINITELY easier! This has reduced my waiting time for a charger ASTRONOMICALLY!!!! On top of the app being killer and amazing in almost every way compared to the rest, they’ve partnered up with Uber so if you drive for Uber you can get discounts on charging your car! But if you don’t, it’s ok too because they offer you the ability to “share the love” by offering 50% off by using a unique code to your account. For example: my referral code (which anyone is welcome to use for 50% off) is: JAMESf6b1a The selling feature beyond all of this I saved for last; I cannot say ENOUGH about their customer support. I worked with Darryl and Jay this evening via the support chat within the app and they helped navigate me to a charger when I was dealing with an irate EV owner at a charging station who used hate and violence escalating rapidly demanding that THEY use the charger feeling self entitled because, and I quote, “I worked a long day”. Despite being at the station prior to her and then upon her arrival having to witness her judgmental stares from within her car watching me like a zoo animal while I called support for the ChargePoint station, she felt that SHE deserved to be next to use the working charger at the station. When I kindly asked to use the charger since I had been waiting she cursed me out and used hate and violence to express herself. Darryl stepped right in via the Presto app and offered to help me find a safer charger to charge at that still met my needs. They even stayed with me via chat in the app despiste closing promptly at 9PM MST. In short: if you drive an EV, there are many apps you can find to help you charge your car, but NONE of them even come remotely close to the customer support, cost savings, and reliability of Presto. While on my vacation the charge was down to 30%. The only instructions I was given by the car rental agent was a business card with Presto’s QR code to find charging stations. So we used it, got to a charging station and really didn’t know what to do. The “chat” feature proved helpful and the “live” person realized I was in need a major help. HE CALLED ME and talked me thru EVERY STEP. It was amazing personal customer service that was unexpected and so critical!!
