### 2/5 — Constantly demands enabling push notifications

*2025-11-16*

Every time I launch the app, I have to tell it NO, I don't want push notifications.

### 2/5 — buggy gapless playback causing static pops.

*2025-04-16*

On some longer songs there’s popping. Poses between tracks. Ended up having to buy the tracks and importing them to another program to avoid the popping sounds.

### 4/5 — Excellent classical service. New playlist capability very welcome

*2025-04-04, version 2.22.4*

I love the enormous range of classical music available. I’ve been using the app for a while and it’s great to have such an enormous library available so readily. Good value. I’ve moved from 1 star to 4 now that user playlists are available. I think there’s still room for improvement, but this is a massive step forward - so, many thanks for that!

### 3/5 — Great service and good app but strange inconsistencies

*2025-03-30, version 2.22.4*

I find the service a delight to use and now feels quite stable, although the iOS/iPad apps still have annoying clicks between tracks (sometimes really big hiccup between tracks, even if downloaded) and the beginning of some tracks marred by a second of poor audio quality. However I have two streamers which perform almost flawlessly, except that they repeat every album as soon as it is finished.

As a remote for the streamers the app is great, nice and clean and intuitive to use. However, some strange inconsistencies, such as only being able to switch from list to grid view of albums in just a few sections. Also if you favourite a conductor say and then view the conductor page from your collection the page only shows you a selection of the albums featuring that conductor in your collection and not all - no “view all” option.

It would be great if you could organise your collection to your own taste or preference and seems the best way would be to allow users to tag albums and have a tags section - e.g. my favourite concertos, or a series of albums I associate with each other for quick access. And what about saving favourite works, as Apple Classical lets you do.

I might come back to the service if things improve.

### 3/5 — Great service and good app but strange inconsistencies

*2024-09-17, version 2.19.0*

### 3/5 — Fine service, but app needs work

*2024-05-02*

This app is missing a number of basic features that any streaming music app should have. There is no shuffle mode, no user-created playlists, and no CarPlay support. Direct support for the Sonos ecosystem would be welcome too at some point so the user doesn’t have to chew up their device’s battery for AirPlay, but first things first.

### 2/5 — Airplaying is a such pain

*2023-12-31, version 2.16.0*

Regret to have to unsubscribe due to broken airplay connections all the time. Please integrate the streaming with smart speakers to provide a better experience. Thank you!

### 3/5 — Almost wonderful

*2023-08-05, version 2.8.0*

Music beautifully and very intelligently curated. What I’d hoped Apple Classical might be. No Chromecast (yet) means no hi-res streaming. Also no way of playing on a Mac. Fix that and it’s almost perfect.

### 4/5 — Yes.

*2023-07-20*

Jazz and classical.

### 4/5 — Good App, works well …

*2023-07-14, version 2.8.0*

… but v2.8 won’t let me save my most recent CD purchase offline to mi iphone 13 mini running iOS 16.5.1. The button is present but not active.

### 2/5 — Terrible design, missing features

*2023-07-03*

There’s no playlist functionality. The track jog shuttle is located in the same place as the where you swipe to switch to another app, so switching apps often jumps the playing track. The whole UI feels more like a website than an app. Not on par with the rest.

### 3/5 — A hidden gem - but please fix the iPad version

*2023-06-13, version 2.5.1*

Excellent in many ways, but a significant and frustrating issue on iPads with face recognition is that when playing an album the music progress bar is too close to the bottom of the screen and is partially covered by the iPad’s app changer bar. Swiping up to change to another app while listening results in the track resetting. It also makes moving through the track almost impossible. Disappointing that this issue has not been fixed in any of the recent updates. It’s not a problem on iPhone.

### 3/5 — Missing features

*2023-05-12, version 2.3.0*

The search works well and sound quality seems good but you can only book mark a whole album not a single track, and there is no option to make a playlist.

### 4/5 — I’m liking it

*2023-05-09, version 2.3.0*

There is much to like about this service, especially if you want to dig deeper into classical music. The search function is ideally suited to classical music and this is the work of an independent UK company. An alternative to the enormous global companies that constitute the other options for classical music streaming. Competitively priced and as far as I can all the compositions that you could possibly wish for.Try their free trial and see for your self .

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The worst streaming app on the market.

*2026-06-08*

This app is so broken and poorly designed and executed that it's hard to believe they are trying to offer this in 2026. This might have been acceptable in 2006. This is very unfortunate because the catalog is excellent. I was a subscriber a couple of years ago and gave up. Decided to give it another shot now but nothing has changed. The windows app is just as bad. I really want to be their customer but I can't when the product is this way.

### 1/5 — Bad as can be

*2026-03-29, version 2.36.0*

The app cannot find the streamer 9 out of 10 times… frustrating to the utmost. I would give it a miss if I was you. I will certainly not be renewing my membership. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

### 1/5 — Very clunky app

*2025-12-25, version 2.32.1*

It is a real struggle: doesn’t respond, loses connection, the cd you were playing disappears from the screen for no apparent reason… I like the idea a lot but Presto really needs to improve the app massively.

### 1/5 — Very clunky up

*2025-11-25, version 2.31.5*

It is a real struggle: doesn’t respond, loses connection, the city you were playing disappears from the screen for no apparent reason… I like the idea a lot but Presto really needs to improve the app massively.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2025-09-29*

Unfortunately extremely buggy. Latest update lost me 91 albums that took AGES to download in the first place. Not amused

### 1/5 — Static popping on DACs, doesn’t resume play where stopped.

*2025-04-19*

On some longer songs there’s popping. Poses between tracks. Ended up having to buy the tracks and importing them to another program to avoid the popping sounds.

Worst is this app is useless for streaming as it has no ability to remember where you stopped playing. Turn off my car, get back in later . Only option
Is to play from the beginning.

But wait, it gets worse. No play lists.

### 1/5 — Excellent classical service. App needs to catch up imo

*2024-06-21, version 2.18.0*

I love the enormous range of classical music available. I’ve been using the app for a while and it’s great to have such an enormous library available so readily. Good value. The app - I can’t create my own playlists, which seems a quite a fundamental flaw.

### 1/5 — Terrible design, missing features

*2023-07-20*

Update: in addition to the problems I listed elsewhere in the review, they have now scammed me out of $15. Two days ago, I logged onto their site and filled out the form to cancel the service during the free trial. Today, they charged me anyway. Even if their customer service refunds my money, a service that makes non-consensual charges has no business being offered to the public.

There’s no playlist functionality. The track jog shuttle is located in the same place as the where you swipe to switch to another app, so switching apps often jumps the playing track. The whole UI feels more like a website than an app. Not on par with the rest.

### 1/5 — Poor access to purchases

*2023-05-12, version 2.3.0*

I preferred the earlier version for ease of access to my purchases. Streaming is nice but not at the list of access to my purchases

### 1/5 — Poor upgrade

*2023-03-17, version 2.1.1*

The upgrade prioritises streaming, which I don’t use and never will. I have bought a large collection of downloads in the past which could be easily accessed on the original version but which are now consigned to a hidden page you have select options to get to. Each time you leave the App and return to it you have to repeat all your previous steps, it doesn’t remember anything. Purchased recordings are still not sorted by composer or artist (only by title or when purchased) which isn’t much use to a serious classical collector. If I want to read articles I’d do that via the website, not through the App. The earlier version wasn’t perfect but it was simpler and didn’t have so many unnecessary functions. Please make this App better for the user who purchases recordings and wishes to access their collection more efficiently.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wunderbare App für Klassik und Jazz Hörer

*2025-05-10, version 2.24.0*

Nachdem ich die App jetzt einige Zeit ausprobiert habe möchte ich sie nicht mehr missen: es stimmt einfach alles - und das Suchen und Stöbern im großen Katalog macht richtig Laune. Kaum zu topen!

### 5/5 — Best Search

*2025-03-11*

I like this app a lot, mainly because the search function is designed for classical music which is very different from pop, etc. Bravo.

### 5/5 — Save offline bugs persist

*2025-02-05, version 2.21.2*

Hello - great app, but since the move to the new system over a year ago save offline bugs persist :( .

### 5/5 — I love Presto streaming

*2024-12-08, version 2.21.0*

It is so easy to discover classical and jazz music here! Since signing up I have had so much more pleasure in listening and really enjoy exploring the collection. I’ve each all of the major streaming services for years, but this is a game changer.

### 5/5 — Outstandingly human!

*2023-08-07*

Presto Classical’s article “Our Streaming Journey - Part 1” was critical to my being pretty sure already that I will continue with a paying subscription at end of trial, specifically because you mention user-creatable playlists in your plans for the next 6-12 months. The lack of knowing whether Apple will bring any new features to their Apple Music Classical app is why I’m leaving them. They don’t seem to respect listeners enough to talk to us about what they’re doing and planning! Please continue the “Journey” articles to keep us informed!

Also, I want to say that the way you present the music is superior to anything I’ve seen with the other current services, and I’ve tried them all: Apple Music Classical, IDAGIO, Qobuz, Tidal, Spotify, etc. Like the the now-defunct Primephonic before they sold to Apple, I feel like your service has humans on the other end (honorable mention to Qobuz editorials). Your organization by album has a real organic feel, like browsing in a music store (please do not prioritize playlists over this approach, when you roll those out). The Contents, About, Explore, and Purchase tabs under each album are genuinely helpful and informative. The arrangement of information under the Content tab alone is so polished in design that it reminds me of the track listings in CD liner notes. The Explore tab further proves you’re on top of the metadata with album-related links to composers, works, artists, recording label, and genres. And the complete booklets/liner notes are indispensable when it comes to really getting into the music, not to mention there’s no libretto for opera otherwise.

Finally, your pay-per-second vs. pay-per-track for remuneration of recording artists really makes sense for classical, and I fully support this approach!

Outstanding work, overall. I’ll patiently wait for the curated and user-creatable playlists. Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Finally works while the screen is sleeping

*2023-07-14, version 2.8.0*

Version 2.8.0 finally works with the screen sleeping. Well done developers. Now 5 stars👏👏👏

### 5/5 — Best App for classical music lovers

*2023-04-11, version 2.1.1*

Finally I found a good substitute for the sadly gone Primephonic app. Presto has a deep catalogue, great quality, clean and straightforward interface, plus it often includes the booklets and additional information about the recordings. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Smart watch version on the drawing board?

*2023-03-22, version 2.1.1*

Great app, especially for those of us who buy the original music from Presto. Now, if they could make a stand-alone app for smart watches, as well as the one already on smart phones, that would be fantastic. We could play the music when we don’t have our phones.

### 5/5 — Delighted

*2022-12-22, version 1.0.5*

All my music available in one place, nothing more to do than open the app. A blessed release from the rigours and uncertainties of iTunes syncing. Album booklets too. Beautifully laid out, attractive typeface. I couldn’t be more pleased.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-08-27*

It’s a really wonderful app. My only small complaint would be that single tracks purchased do not appear in the library only albums. Apart from that it’s a beautifully designed simple app.
