### 5/5 — A good start to a great DM tool

*2020-09-03*

I’ve been on the look out for a decent DM tool to use during my games. I have found a few apps that are ok at a few things. But none of which have had a solid foundation for the future. The PrismScrollDM app has that solid foundation to build upon. The UI is clean and useful. The performance is outstanding, and further more the developer/developers are responsive and always willing to answer your questions.

If I could wish for anything, it would be that PrismScrollDM would take some ideas of out the app Encounter+

I feel like the Prism team could make a much better, more refined version of that app. They certainly have the fan base.

**Developer response:** Hello Joshua and thank you for the review! The faith that you have in our products to grow reinforces our own belief for what we want to see PrismScroll become. I had actually talked with the developer(s) of Encounter+ a bit about there tv functionality. I think their product is awesome and has some pretty great functionality. I definitely think you are right in that there are things we could learn and apply to the PrismScroll way of doing things. Stay tuned!

### 5/5 — Absolutely Wonderful

*2020-04-02*

Much like all of the PrismScroll products, it is still in the works. But even so, this is an astonishing starting point and already has the makings of a complete app. They are continually making updates on the apps and I have loved being here every step of the way! Cannot wait to see where this goes.

100% recommend this app.

**Developer response:** Thanks! We hope to continue to make you proud :)

### 4/5 — Great game just one thing...

*2020-03-30, version 2.4.0*

Great just need a way to drag and drop in fight to more easily control initiative.

### 5/5 — Amazing, but...

*2020-03-14*

I think this app is great! I use it both as a player to keep track of what has been happening in our sessions and now as a new DM to organize my thoughts clearly. The one thing I have noticed would make a world of difference for me is that the notes feature for sessions is nice but could be refined a bit. If there were a feature in the app similar to the journal in the character sheet app (that could show locations, events, etc) in the dm app maybe accessible in the hotbar at the bottom or in the session menu, I could keep track of everything a lot better. Thanks for the amazing app!

**Developer response:** Hello BrokenHalo, Thank you for the review! Yes, that improved notes feature is something we can definitely do. Look for that in the next update coming out in the next week or two :)

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2020-03-01, version 2.1.5*

Great tool, only thing missing is a way to create custom items/spells so on.

### 4/5 — Monsters stat block

*2019-12-04*

There should be the monsters stat block in the app but it nice

**Developer response:** Hello! Thanks for the review! When you say stat block what do you mean exactly? The monster cards have the stats of each monster that we have/you create. Are you talking about in a different location? Let us know via your preferred communication method and I am sure we could get that working for ya. Thanks!

### 4/5 — It’s great, but I’m having some issues.

*2019-11-18*

Hey, great app, lots of content. Finding it annoying to have to work around discord for all the features, (although I understand why) and importing PDF files just doesn’t work for me. If I could get that working then it would be a 5 star review! I also understand that it still is a work in progress so I’m not holding much against you, thanks.

**Developer response:** Hello Wiz, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! As far as the pdf library goes, I would really like to get this working for you. Would you be able to contact me at sentrydevelopmentco@gmail.com or via one of the communication methods in the settings so we can work through the problem together? I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks

### 4/5 — Great so far!

*2019-11-07, version 2.0.1*

Love the design of the app and the simplicity of searching! Having one issue trying to import XML. I choose the file, but nothing happens, am I missing something?

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2019-11-05*

This is clearly a very useful tool for a DM, and I definitely see myself using it in the future to better organize my sessions. Keep up the wonderful work!

I only had two concerns from my experience with the app so far. My first concern is that I can’t seem to resize the icons on my DM screen - I hid most of the panels and now only about half of my screen is taken up, and the text on the panels is broken up and incomplete. It would be handy if I could make them larger so I can fully read the panels before tapping on them.

My second concern is that my characters’ info isn’t always updating when I hit “save”. The icon in particular seems to change to one that I didn’t select. I also had a few crashes when attempting to edit a character that didn’t have an icon (for some reason, even though I selected the arrow & feather icon, it switched to the generic person icon after creation).

Other than the few hiccups, I thoroughly appreciate this app and how it simplifies the work necessary for being a DM.

**Developer response:** Hey Duderox and Welcome to the PrismScroll community! Thanks for writing a review, it really means a lot when people take time out of their day to give us feedback. To answer some of your questions:
1. So you have a two options for the size of the dm screen icons and they can be managed in the settings of the app. You can either have square tiles or you can have long rectangular tiles. Also in the settings, youll find a text size adjustment setting which will change the size on the screen tiles so that you can make it smaller or larger to your preference
2. So by the looks of it, you were on the latest update when you wrote this review but I thought that I had fixed that error in update (2.0.1, you can find that number at the bottom of the settings screen). I will make sure to go back check. Please reach out again if you are still experiencing this problem via email/social media/discord and I can help you get it resolved.

Thanks again and we still have a lot in store!

### 5/5 — Definitely a Labor of Love

*2019-11-02*

Me and my friends are in the early planning stages of making a DnD Podcast, and finding this has solved a lot of organizing and planning issues we’ve experienced! We use this and the character sheet app and without a doubt these are the most complete apps of their kind on the App Store. The only thing I can see that would make this one better is if the compendium had the option to be organized by challenge rating and monster type rather than just the default alphabetical order. I cant wait to see what they do with this and highly recommend it to any DnD enthusiast, DM or otherwise.

**Developer response:** Hey Ozzy! Thanks for taking the time to write this review! We are glad that you are liking the apps thus far. We are playing on adding a filtering option to the compendium, similar to the player app spells filter options, we just have some minor tweaks we want to make before we roll it out for all searchable locations. Stay tuned! Make sure to let us know if you have any other thoughts or suggestions, you can reach out here/social media/or on the community discord

### 4/5 — Imports?

*2019-10-13, version 1.10.5*

Could use some import features for monsters but it works great

### 5/5 — Some things don’t work the best...

*2019-09-22*

Hi. I have downloaded this program onto two different devices. For the most part it works fine, but on my iPad you can’t scroll down on the ability cards. All the other cards work just fine though. On my iPhone, I was also having trouble with the ability cards. This time is wasn’t that I couldn’t scroll down, it was that when I try to search for specific items, just just blocks out the search bar all together. It makes it so I can’t search. Those where my only problems with the app besides it not having all the creatures, but then again, who will? Over all, it’s a great app and is definitely worth getting if you are a dm.

**Developer response:** Hey Nathon! Thanks for the review! I think we talked a bit over email about this issue. So we are currently reworking cards/compendium functionality in the player app which we will soon (hopefully this week) be moving over to the dm app. We are getting rid of the problematic search bar and adding better formatted spell cards for viewing in landscape/portrait. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — great tool for DMs

*2019-08-28*

i love this! exactly what i was looking for.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review! We have so much more planned for the DM app! Stay tuned :)

### 5/5 — Love it

*2019-08-07*

I enjoy this app but there are monsters missing. We are doing madmage and came across an intellect devourer but it wasn’t in the monster page among others. Also can we get a section for magical weapons, armour and items. Cause I got wish but we had to go searching the internet for items like that.

Otherwise 2nd session ever is a success.

**Developer response:** Hello Slim, thank you for this awesome review! We really think the dm app has so much potential. As far as monsters go, we hope to work go toward creating a batch file for monsters but it will just take some time. As far as other items go, we will be improving the custom creator to have more items that dms can create and share with their players. Just going to take a bit more time 👍👍

### 5/5 — 4.8-5 stars. A must have for any DM

*2019-07-25*

Bought this as part of the Prism Bundle and let me say, this makes a world of difference. Instead of having to flip through countless books trying to find something specific, like a spell or racial feat from something less common, most of that is here and accessible within a few seconds.

PSA: if you buy this, download discord and hop into their channel. You can speak directly to the developers and they’re very responsive. ALSO PSA: this app, while fantastic and easily the best out there in my opinion that I’ve seen, is still in its youth. Be patient with the developers and let them update their content.

All in all, I’m beyond happy with the Prism apps and look forward to using them to adventure away into the sunset for many years to come.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the awesome review! The dm app has so much potential and now that we have more time we are really excited for what’s coming!

### 2/5 — Bugs

*2019-04-02, version 1.7.1*

Can't get through campaign creator on iPad Pro 2018, stuck on Custom > Select Color

It's probably a good app but i can't even add a campaign

### 3/5 — Great beginnings but could use or tweak some more features

*2019-05-26, version 1.9.0*

PrismDM has a lot of potential that could rival my preferred DMing app by Lion’s Den. For instance, the character web feature helps track connections between NPCs and the Party. It even contains a lot more resources to inspire DMs compared to them.

The Issues:
• The characters designated as the Party don’t stick between sessions.
• As a DM who plays in a setting that has a Georgian Era (1714-1830) aesthetic, having musketry is a must. There isn’t an option/ability to add custom equipment.
• On that same note, a lot of the NPCs I use are homebrewed, so it’s really an issue in encounters in not having that material at the ready.

Additions and Suggestions:
• Having a screen that displays the player characters and NPCs. A way to sort them (like allies and enemies) would be an even greater luxury to have.
• Being able to change the campaign menu colors and icon.
• Having conditions in initiative would help to discern who’s helped or hindered by affects.
• In a nutshell, I encourage the creator to improve or provide where Lion’s Den can’t, like the character web setup.

In Conclusion:
• For now, I’ll rely on Lion’s Den for my DMing needs and turn to PrismDM for character/party relation notes. I’m hoping to reconsider this as updates come in

### 3/5 — Missing a lot

*2019-04-02, version 1.7.1*

This is a paid version i expect it to have everything. Ill fix the review when all of the monsters and items are included and features.

Edit:
Fair enough 3 stars. 5 stars if completed

### 3/5 — Ok for where it is.

*2019-03-31*

I assume there will be updates soon to add a little more customizing. Right now I can’t actively customize what I see for my campaign. But for what is there already it is very informative and easy to use. Can’t wait to see more added to it, will adjust my rating as these options become available.

**Developer response:** Hey AT! Thanks for the review! We just got past a pretty big player update and we will be heading back to the dm app to add more functionality and fix a bit of the buggy ness. As far as customization goes, I think it would probably be best for me to make PrismScrolls first YouTube video to explain some of the options for customizing what you. This app is still in its infancy and we hope you stick around through the growing pains because we know it’s going to be worth it 🙂

### 3/5 — One thing to add

*2018-12-01, version 1.4.1*

This is super useful. Id really like if the user could be able to change the size of the tiles so that the whole text fits in the box.

### 4/5 — Crashes when giving party member a condition.

*2025-09-23*

I really like this app and it is very helpful as a healer to keep track of health of my party. But when I add a condition to the party member, the app crashes. I add condition- crash. Remove- crash.
Pretty annoying. I just now don’t add those to the app and will just write it down.
Would be higher rating if it wasn’t for the crashing.

### 4/5 — As a DM, I love this so so much!

*2024-07-25*

I am so glad to have this much customisation. Though I’d love to see two features added if possible: Custom icons + compendium types. Especially since I’ve added many new things to the game, such as conditions. Beyond that, I love everything about this app.

### 4/5 — Character web/map is the best part

*2022-06-19*

To be honest, google searching things feels just as efficient as most of this apps functions, but I love the character map. Please allow me to change the size of each character bubble and I will give you 5 stars!!! :)

### 4/5 — Love this, wish there was cloud sync

*2021-10-01*

I love this app and am currently using it on my iPad to run my campaign. I wish there was the ability for cloud sync or to copy a campaign to another device though. I’d love to use it on my phone for quick reference without have to completely rebuild the campaign a second time

**Developer response:** howdy, you can export a campaign via the campaign list > three dot button > export. This will produce a file that you can transfer to your other device. Hopefully that helps until we get cloud syncing in place :)

### 4/5 — It’s Coming Together

*2020-12-28*

I love what the team is doing, the PrismScroll app is AMAZING! This app is very good as mentioned in the other reviews, but I have a few things I would like to request:

1. A better way to add maps to a campaign. It isn’t very intuitive to use and it may even be nice to have the option of creating your own maps from within the app.

2. The encounter is a bit weird and whenever I start an encounter I can never figure out how to have it roll initiative for me for the monsters(the characters I get why, I don’t roll for them), but it would be nice to have the option to have it roll initiative for the monsters.

3. Where is Dragon of Icespire Peak? That is the current game I am running and the option isn’t there, I would request that it be added.

Anyway, this is a great app with lots of potential, I could see myself giving this app a 5-star review down the road once it has been fully flushed out. Keep up the good work developers!

**Developer response:** Hello Revel and thank you for taking to write this in-depth review! Take a look at my responses below:
1. I agree with you on this for sure. I think a goal would be to have the import buttons that you normally use for importing the batch file to be more of a catch all where it would be a little smarter and know what file type is being imported and where it could possibly go in the app.
2. As far as this goes, I think it should already roll initiative for the monsters. I will have to check but I think that there should be an option to reroll initiative for all/all non player characters, so I think that is something I could do
3. As far as the campaign options go, they don't really serve a "purpose" besides just being a label, so I would recommend just using the custom option. I can add that campaign to the list though, thank you

Thanks again and please reach out on the discord if you have any other questions or suggestions

### 5/5 — The last DM tool you will need.

*2023-06-26*

After 20 years of DMing in Dungeons and Dragons I have finally found the absolutely best tool for managing campaigns, sessions, and encounters. With tools for character/PC management, encounter/initiative tracking, note taking and organization, and not to mention a digital DM screen that seems to be unendingly customizable...the price of $2.99 is beyond a steal. I easily would have paid $20 or more for such a piece of software. Or even a subscription price. With the additon of some downloadable content update provided by the developer on their Discord, it rounds out everything so well. I will admit that I struggled a bit trying to get my head wrapped around everything available, but after maybe a couple hours I was so excited with everyth8ing I could do. There are VERY few problems that I have but nothing app breaking or even annoying enough to dock the app a star (not being able to add multiple characters at once into encounters, navigation from some pages to others doesn't seem to always put me where I feel I should be). All in all, buy this app. If you are a DM, you owe it to yourself.

### 5/5 — Oh my…!

*2023-04-07*

This is such an amazing utility. It certainly doesn’t replace my books but it’s pretty darn close. The navigation takes a little getting used to but it is fairly intuitive once you go through a few screens. There’s a balance between automatically populating data and keeping it free form enough to allow for tweaking things to fit my needs. I’ve run various games over 35 years and have used a lot of different tools (screens, apps, etc.). Prism may be the one to rule them all. For my next campaign I plan to make this the only thing I use outside of the books.

### 5/5 — Brilliant v helpful

*2023-03-31*

Excellent app, very helpful, just wish I was able to transport my stuff direct from dnd beyond 😂

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2022-04-16*

I was looking for a really good app because I had just started learning how to DM. This app made it really easy and plain as day to making an epic campaign! I HIGHLY recommend for any DMs that want to keep track of information easier.

### 5/5 — Incredible

*2022-01-05, version 3.0.0*

Completely makes being a home-brew DM easy!

### 5/5 — Just bought today and I’m really enjoying it!

*2021-06-30*

I almost gave this 4 instead of 5 stars because I wish it were a bit easy to figure out some things. I’m having through figuring out if I can edit the screens cards and campaign cards, but I decided to go with 5 stars anyway because I have yet to check out the discord and I read in other reviews that that can be super helpful! I’m hoping that if I’m unable to edit the pre-organized DM screen that in a future patch I might be able to because, while things like different race names, actions in combat, and conditions are grouped together, the different class tables are not and there are some other things that I would prefer to rearrange. Just some things that are my personal preferences but this app is by far the most extensive and useful DM tool I’ve been able to find. I highly suggest getting it on Mac if you can just because it’s easier to navigate all the information than on a phone/iPad. Hope to see more content from the developers because it’s an awesome app!

**Developer response:** thanks for the awesome review! The dm screen is definitely one of the strengths of the dm app. While some of the content is hard coded and uneditable, you can change the groups of content by editing the "master" dm screen by accessing the dm screen from the campaign list (the screen you reach when you first open the app) > top left button > screen. This screen is the screen that gets copied when you create a new campaign. So if you group items here, they will be grouped for any new screen that you create. Hope that helps :)

### 5/5 — Dm prism

*2021-02-02, version 2.7.11*

Great system definitely recommend

### 5/5 — The best, hands down.

*2020-12-10, version 2.7.7*

Keeps things organized and running smoothly. Information is easily accessed and input into your campaign. An essential tool for anyone that enjoys digital aids.

### 5/5 — Needs updates here and there

*2020-11-11*

It’s an amazing app for organizing your campaign and sessions and great for note taking and building characters. I would like if in a future update, you would be able to change relationships in the character web and have more than three levels. Like there is Enemy, Neutral and Friend. So if maybe there was a way to change the relationships and more than the three basic relationships. But overall an amazing app with lots of information. :)

**Developer response:** Hey Ant! Sorry for the delay but make sure to check out the next update which has some improvements to the character web 👍

### 5/5 — Vastly love this

*2020-09-05*

Been using this as a first time dm and its made me feel so much more confident that I’ve not forgotten anything. This is an invaluable resource

**Developer response:** Awesome! I am super glad that PrismScroll has been useful for you. As you continue your dm journey, be sure to reach out via social media or our discord with any suggestions that you would like added
