It makes signing back it very difficult if your details change. It’s a long process to change your number if different to the one you signed up with. ### 2/5 — Needs to be more intuitive *2023-09-11, version 1.17.3* I can’t work out how to add credit. It’s so complicated and difficult to navigate and very poor directions ### 3/5 — More discreet *2021-01-07* I like this app and it has been a good way of keeping in touch. However, I do not need to broadcast who is calling. Could the name be abbreviated? When calls or voicemails come in could it be made less obvious from where the call has come from. I may have to delete it as it is difficult to maintain privacy at work. Please make these changes so that I can give it 4 stars. The IT department were very responsive when I had an issue with the prison not verifying the account their end and soon resolved this for me. Has allowed him to call me for so cheap and often too without having to use so much of his money! I highly recommend prison voicemail to anyone who’s loved one is in prison It has helped so much with communication and the costs of calling. I would also suggest to anyone who may have some difficulties with this app at times to just ask the team at prison voicemail to help before leaving a bad review. I’ve had a lot of help from them recently while trying to fix some issues with the app to witch I am very great full. Prison voicemail truly has been a beam of light in a very dark time. ### 5/5 — Get the app! *2019-08-27, version 1.13.3* I am so grateful for this app, thank you, you’re a genius! It is worth the small fees. It has helped to reduce anxiety because we could stay in touch more often and whenever I was away from home. This app has definitely helped our relationship and I will be forever thankful. ### 1/5 — OVERPRICED, UNRELIABLE, insulting text. AWFUL *2019-08-13* I NEVER write reviews but I have to share my experience. I paid my monthly subscription along with around £30 extra top up each month on average. Value fid money is not important to this company. I cancelled my accpunt subscription and payment only to get charged the following month. I complained to my bank, got refunded only to receive a text message from prison voicemail to tell me what a disappointment I was as a customer because I clawed MY OWN money back which meant they had to pay a £25 charge for their "mistake". I have never received an insult from a company for fixing their own mistake. These people are all about the money. The system they use does not save us money. My brother in law and my husband are both away and my family and I spent waaaaaay over the odds using this app. Virtual Landline is better value. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!!!! **Developer response:** Hi Lottie, I checked your account and you were only spending £10 a month so I'm not sure why you are saying you paid an extra £30 a month on average. Perhaps you are confusing us with another service? During the 3 months you used our service you had 344 minutes of Live Calls which would have saved the prisoner £34 of their phone credit. Over that period you only spent £30 with us, so there was a net saving for the two of you. Regarding the cancellation, you cancelled the day after a payment had been taken but it probably didn't show up in your bank statement for a couple of days so I can see why you thought we had charged you after you cancelled. This is not the case. We would happily have refunded that payment for you with zero fuss had you contacted us, but by going straight to your bank we incurred a £25 fee, which is a pointless waste of money for a social venture such as ours. Contact the person in prison through official channels email/ prison call. Do not waste your money with this company ! ### 1/5 — Abysmal service *2025-07-21, version 1.17.3* Absolutely awful service, couldn’t get set up as my number “wasn’t registered”, despite already having several calls from the prison. Just kept bouncing me back to the prison who were adamant that the fault was with PV. Asked for refund as it was clear the issue wouldn’t be resolved and after a rude email back I got a 70% refund - they kept 30% as “admin costs”. Useless App & useless service ### 1/5 — Waste money *2025-01-21, version 1.17.3* I thought it would save up my patner credit in prison because the cost in this app says normal mobile cost 12p/per minute but if use this app change to landline only 8p/per minute, I was so happy to told my partner thought we would save up more money then we can have more time to talk, then my partner told me it only cost 6.99p/per minute calling from prison on weekdays and 4p/per minute on weekend. Call drops unexpectedly. Would not recommend. ### 1/5 — Scam *2024-02-02* This app was essentially created to convert your mobile number into a landline under the guise of saving the prisoner money. I used this app 4 years ago to keep in touch with my partner ,unfortunately I’ve had to use it again. In the past 2 months I’ve apparently saved my partner £227. Not only do you have to pay for the monthly subscription that includes such a small amount of minutes, of which they know are not sufficient for the whole month so you’re forced to top up minute bundles hence the £227 which is money I have topped up whilst sending money for him to top up his account. I’ve now found an alternative and urge anyone using this app or thinking of using it to download Virtuallandline which converts your mobile into a landline and is only £4.50 a month with no extra charges. This is yet another way for the system to profit off!!!!! ### 1/5 — Still waiting to be approved *2021-12-28* When l saw this app l thought it was a great idea so l went ahead and set up a direct debit. I left my first message and was looking forward to my first reply. This was on the 17 th december and I’m still waiting for my account to be approved 10 days later, even though l was told it should only take 3 days.!! When l rang the prison they told me it wasn’t their fault it was the fault of a third party who deal with the approval.! There’s no way l can get hold of them so I’m going to cancel my subscription so anyone who thinks this app is a great idea please think again because there are obvious failings in the system.!! It also allows both parties to leave voicemails that can be listened to later. It’s a lifeline to those inside and those impacted outside. ### 5/5 — Brilliant *2026-04-07* Brilliant for the prisoner to save money on credit inside my partner can only put credit on once a week with his canteen sheet and we have another 14 months to go, so this has been a godsend and especially for the kids to leave voicemails for him, I will admit yes it’s pricey if your not on the right plan and continue to top up minutes it’s about choosing the plan which is right for you, I currently pay £50 a month for the gold user package and add on of live call minutes I’ve been using this a number of months there has been a few problems with calls not coming through but it was the same for many people at the time and it was rectified pretty quickly seeing the savings it’s giving my partner is also brilliant in around 9/10 months I’ve already saved my partner over £1000 in credit it’s honestly been a god send ### 5/5 — Great and professional team *2025-06-23, version 1.17.3* Team actually respond respectfully to customers, the app is also really great, I can’t recommend enough. ### 5/5 — Apple Watch?! *2024-06-30, version 1.17.3* This service has been a life saver. He has a short sentence but it’s been very hard due to covid. I signed up and they set it up immediately?! To my shock the next day the number was already registered on my husbands pin. So phenomenal customer service!!! I love the fact I can listen back to the calls and favourite them and this eases the burden for my husband. Honestly I can’t thank you guys enough and your customer support team deserves a dozen Krispy Kremes because they are excellent.
