ABOUT THE APP PRIVACY LABEL
Apple asks us to list everything that can reach our server, even when it arrives encrypted. User Content is your notes, encrypted on your device. Identifiers are a key made from your recovery phrase and a device hash, not your name. Contact Info is an email, only if you sign in with Apple, Google or GitHub. Purchases is your Pro status. Nothing is shared, sold or used for ads.

### 5/5 — Truthful Review compared to Notesnook & Standardnotes

*2026-10-16*

My truthful review of why I choose PrivacyNotes.

I started off trying Standard notes by Proton it’s good but lacking in many ways such as in their standard/free tier and way over priced, I moved to Notesnook and way more promising for a while but still feeling like it’s missing the mark while missing many key features overtime. Later ran across PrivacyNotes and seen this privacy notes app that seemed promising.

The approach security wise was different and the fast new implementations and progress from time I started to now easily already excelled them above both. Became a life long subscription.

The dev and team are very responsive when needed and the app is definitely worth checking out. Great job team.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-10-14*

So far, I have nothing but praises to sing for PrivacyNotes. I believe the app is great and love being able to use it on Linux as well!

Finally, I found a notes app that syncs and I like.

### 5/5 — Best Notes App

*2026-10-13*

Awesome markdown editor for notes and everything else! Not to include that it’s all privacy oriented!

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-10-11*

Great notes all getting better

### 5/5 — It’s That Good

*2026-10-11*

Total replacement for other password managers while be useful for other things.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 0.696.1 — 2026-10-23

Ninja: type what you want
- The quick switcher is now Ninja. Type a few letters to open any item, "+" to add one, or ">" to run a command. On an iPad keyboard, press Cmd+K.
- Type one line in plain words: "+Dentist fri 3pm 1h before" becomes an event with an alert. The same works for notes, tasks, journal entries, boards, logins, contacts and bookmarks.
- Add to a list you already have: "+cash, charger >> pack" puts two tasks into your Packing list.
- Switch the theme by its name, jump to a date such as "oct 17", and reach features deep in Settings in a few keys.

Tables do the arithmetic
- A cell that starts with "=" is a formula: SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, ROUND and more, with cell references such as B2:B7. The note keeps the formula as Markdown.

Kanban boards
- Put a board in any note. Cards are tasks, so you tick them where they are, and drag them between columns.

Save a web page as a note
- Clip a link or a bookmark into a note with its main text, its source and up to 20 pictures.

Wellness and health
- A daily check-in: one tap logs your mood, then a short pass walks you through your trackers. New Factors and Habits trackers, and an optional reminder.
- Statistics rebuilt: see what lifts your mood and what drags it down, your year in pixels, and a weekly recap.
- Medications get a strength, a schedule, dose reminders and a supply count.

Notes and calendar
- Connections shows the notes that link to a note and the notes it links to.
- Give a note its own icon.
- Events show a card with the day, time, repeat and alerts. Tap a day for a day panel, and import a calendar from a webcal link (Proton, iCloud, Outlook).
- The app keeps your place: the same scroll position, the same open item and the note you had open.

Lock and privacy
- Lock the app with one tap. Unlocking the app no longer opens PIN-protected notes: they ask for their PIN again.
- Face ID unlock opens a key that the secure hardware on your device holds, and turning it off asks for your face first.

Also improved
- A button at the end of the format bar hides the keyboard.
- Copy a selection as plain text or as Markdown.
- Phones pick a time with the iOS time picker, and Settings fills the screen.
- Better Notesnook imports, and fourteen new community themes.
- Large vaults scroll faster, a new device no longer says "Synced" before its first download ends, a long note shows in full in the Markdown view, and setting a PIN keeps the keyboard up.

### 0.654.2 — 2026-10-16

- A new Calendar with events, repeats and quick add, and reminders on your phone.
- Note history compares a version with your note, side by side, and keeps 50 versions.
- A new phone bar with New under your thumb.
- Import from Bear and Google Calendar, and choose the folder an import goes into.
- A longer passcode for the app lock, and the app in Slovak.
- Faster on large libraries.
- Smaller fixes and polish.

### 0.621.0 — 2026-10-10

- Spaces: switch between Personal and Work, one at a time.
- Shortcuts: open a note from another app, such as a task or a calendar event.
- Arrange the toolbar yourself, and put it at the bottom if you like.
- Group your lists under date and letter headers, or use compact rows.
- A new Fold block, and every callout type is free.
- Community and favorite themes, a new app icon, and smaller fixes.

### 0.598.0 — 2026-10-08

- Share into PrivacyNotes from the share sheet: links, text, pictures and files. Beta.
- Make your own color theme, or pick from ten new themes and the community themes.
- A journal calendar with a dot on each day that has an entry.
- Statistics, rebuilt: an Overview, every tracker charted, and milestones.
- Footnotes, spoiler text and a copy box in your notes.
- Jump to any note, setting or command with the Jump to button.
- Zoom into pictures with a pinch, and swipe from the left edge to go back.
- Smaller fixes and polish.

### 0.553.1 — 2026-09-29

- Archive any item to keep it out of sight without deleting it.
- Vault logins hold more than one website and custom fields.
- Optional 2FA, and sign in with a connected Google, Apple or GitHub account.
- Burn links with your own reading time and expiry.
- Faster with large collections, plus smaller fixes and polish.
