PrivateScan turns paper into clean, searchable PDFs entirely on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. No accounts, no cloud processing, no tracking, no subscription. THE PRIVATE ONE Most scanner apps send your documents to servers for processing. PrivateScan never does. Scanning, filters, text recognition, and even AI naming all run on your device using Apple frameworks and an optional on-device model. The app collects no data at all: the privacy label you see on this page says "Data Not Collected" because there is nothing to collect. SCAN ANYTHING Point the camera at a page and PrivateScan finds the edges, straightens the result, and cleans it up. Scan books as open spreads and split them into facing pages, capture whiteboards without glare, compose ID cards and passports onto a single page (free, while others charge for this), and import photos or PDFs. Keep everything organized in folders with color labels. SIGN AND EDIT Draw a signature once and place it on any page. Reorder, split, and combine documents. Rescue bad lighting with enhance, black & white, grayscale, and whiteboard filters. FIND ANY DOCUMENT Search reads every scanned word, so a receipt, a contract, or a letter is one search away. Premium unlocks text recognition that runs on your device, even offline, and smart naming with a small on-device AI model (a one-time 1.8 GB download) that titles each scan for you, so receipts stop being called "Scan 47". A gentle warning when a scan looks blurry, so you can retake it while the page is still in front of you. Everything still happens on your device: no account, no cloud, no subscription. ### 1.11 — 2026-08-27 Scans you delete now move to Recently Deleted, where you can restore them for 30 days, with an immediate Undo right after deleting. After each scan, a new review screen shows the result so you can rename, open, or retake it on the spot. Choose Light, Dark, or System appearance in Settings. Clearer messages whenever something goes wrong, a full VoiceOver and text-size pass across the app, and the app icon now greets you in onboarding and About. ### 1.10 — 2026-08-23 Sharing and printing are far more reliable. Every export is verified before it reaches the share sheet or iCloud Drive, exported files stay readable even if your device locks mid-share, and a page whose local image is damaged now recovers automatically from its synced copy. Scanning is smoother. The scan button opens the camera in one tap using your last scan mode, and scans save in the background so you are never stuck watching a spinner. Large PDF exports use a fraction of the memory, show page-by-page progress, and can be cancelled mid-export. Plus many fixes for editing, signing, splitting, and reordering pages while a scan is still processing. ### 1.9 — 2026-07-24 Photos selected from your library now import more like scans. When a document is clearly detected, PrivateScan straightens and crops the imported copy to improve text recognition for search and automatic naming. Your source photo is not changed. Automatic naming requires the one-time Premium unlock. Your appearance, default export format, default scan filter, and list or grid view can now sync through your iCloud on each device where iCloud Sync is enabled. ### 1.8 — 2026-07-23 The upgrade screen now shows custom watermarking, and Excel export where available. Large documents load nearby pages first, with more loading as you swipe. Search updates after a brief pause while you type.
