### 3/5 — Pro compass for watch

*2025-11-03*

I was recommended this app instead of the Apple compass app as it offered mils, which I was very happy with and seems to work great, when using the app, I noticed it also gave me a grid on the same screen… very happy, just a big shame the settings don’t offer BNG as an option for giving a grid reference, which unfortunately is my choice of language when reading maps, hope this can be added soon as it’s make the app perfect for what I need hope this helps, and helps improve the app for more users

### 4/5 — Nice

*2024-09-05*

It almost makes me like my Ultra2!

### 4/5 — Great tool.

*2024-01-31*

Great tool. I think an iPhone companion app for managing the waypoints would be useful since copy/pasting coordinates between iPhone and watch is imposible atm

### 4/5 — Finally - waypoints on a map

*2024-01-06*

I love the look of Apple's native compass app but the waypoint feature is useless. It doesn’t show the waypoints on a map. It’s unbelievable how silly that is.

This app fixes that issue and it works great.

My only complaint is that the UI isn’t as polished as I would like. But the functionality is perfect.

### 3/5 — Can’t be download again from phone!

*2023-11-23*

I had to unpair my watch. This app didn’t reinstall! Go to app store on iPhone to download and reinstall and it says purchased. Must be downloaded from your watch. Not intuitive at all.

**Developer response:** It might seem more intuitive if you realized this is an independent Watch app that runs by itself on the Watch and doesn't use the iPhone for support. Only older companion apps tie into the iPhone (but a companion app is not suitable for use as a Watch compass). You'd see the same behavior if you had multiple iPhones or an iPad, or multiple Watches, where the App Store on one iPhone will not push apps to the other devices during a reinstall. Please send feedback to Apple if you feel the process could be better, since this is something they will need to address on their end. It is not something we control from the app. Apple will need to allow the iPhone App Store to reinstall independent apps on a Watch to match your expected behavior.

### 4/5 — Great interface-could Suns Shadow Bearing be included

*2023-05-24*

Love the design. And the fact that the Sun and Moon Azimuths are visible within the compass bezel. I use the Sun to orientate any compass and determine its magnetic error. However I would prefer for the Suns Shadow bearing to be shown as thats much safer to observe in practice. Any chance this could be incorporated as an option in the Settings. Sailors and hikers would appreciate this enhancement.

### 3/5 — GPS doesn’t work

*2023-02-24, version 2.1*

I have rhe Ultra, the map in the app thinks I’m located somewhere off the coast of Africa. I’m in Boston. It’s not a problem with my Apple Watch Ultra: it’s the app. The map function, doesn’t work.

### 2/5 — Crashes

*2022-04-29*

Have the latest iWatch with cellular... app crashes. Contacted app support, they were quick to answer/unaware of any issue(s). I've power cycled watch/deleted and reinstalled -- no go.

I'm looking forward to a fix.

### 3/5 — Lamentela

*2020-12-03*

Ho acquistato l’applicazione è non la vedo comparire ne su iPhone ne su iwatch perché ?

### 3/5 — No MILS option

*2020-10-18*

Please add the option to use 6400 mils instead of 360 degrees. Thank you.

### 3/5 — It could be useful

*2020-07-20*

It doesn’t seem to be using the watch gps and there’s no calibration option. You basically try to find one of the 4 directions and spin the crown until you set this direction as close as you think it’s right.
I guess it could be helpful if you get lost and you have nothing but the watch and you trying to move in a straight.
It be nice to have a lock button so that after you set the compass, it disables/lock the crown button so you don’t accidentally spin it.

**Developer response:** If you have an older watch without a compass sensor, then only the device's gyro is used and you need to calibrate via the digital crown. To have automatic calibration you would need a Series 5 Watch or newer. Usage of GPS depends on the version of Watch you have. If an older Watch without internal GPS, it will use GPS from the synced iPhone. If you have a newer Watch with GPS then it will be used. ### 1/5 — “Pro Compass” > Compass not available

*2020-07-16*

This is a joke. This is my very first review EVER since I have IPhone 1 !!!!!
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APPS EVEN IF THEY MAKE IT FREE ONE DAY.
What a scam

### 1/5 — Rip off - you don't receive it

*2025-04-28, version 2.2*

Paris for the app but never received it. Sent a message to Apple, they never responded.

### 1/5 — App is nonexistent

*2025-04-19*

I purchased the app. It is nowhere to be found on watch or phone. Apple, do not perpetuate a scam. Remove this from the store!

**Developer response:** Go to the App Store on your Watch (not iPhone) and look in Account > Purchases. You can install the app from there if it did not install automatically after purchase. This is an independent Watch app and does not use the iPhone or iPhone App Store.

### 1/5 — Direction indicator shows NA

*2024-07-07*

I have a watch series 9 with a magnetic malanese band. What can I do to get the direction indicator to work?

### 1/5 — the app crashes

*2024-03-12*

the app does not download on the ultra 2

### 1/5 — We’re is the app

*2022-12-01*

Does not show up on my watch. It just says purchased , but we’re is it? Apple Watch Ultra

**Developer response:** If you purchased it from your iPhone or iPad and don’t have your Watch set to automatically install apps purchased from other devices, then you will need to go on your Watch, open the Watch’s App Store app, scroll down and tap “Account”, then tap “Purchases”, then install the app on the Watch from there.

### 1/5 — Won't download anywhere

*2022-08-07*

Bought app, will not download

**Developer response:** Go to the App Store on your Watch (not iPhone) and look in Account > Purchases. You can install the app from there if it did not install automatically after purchase. This is an independent Watch app and does not use the iPhone or iPhone App Store.

### 1/5 — problem remains

*2020-12-14*

I understand the Developer believes the Location Permissions is an ios issue, however this is the ONLY app in 10 years that does this. It is a characteristic of only this app. After a month of not changing ANY location permissions, this app is unallowed again. Am I the only person having this problem ???

works great when it works, however it continues to have a long standing problem of forgetting its location permissions. you go to use it, and it doesn’t know the location any more. just says “waiting for location”. you have to reallow it use your position, and know how to do that. can’t be done on watch, must be done on phone. the frustration of going to use it, just to find out it’s got amnesia again renders it useless. would be great if this were fixed. it is the only app I use that does this.

**Developer response:** The app is not capable of granting or denying permission for location access -- that is happening as part of your iOS system settings on your iPhone, in Privacy > Location Services. This is not something we can address in the app because it happens upstream of the app, before it even launches. Note that this is an independent Watch app, and the location permission behaves differently for these types of apps. This is an issue you need to resolve on your iPhone, not on the Watch or in the Watch app.

### 1/5 — Shocking app, totally pointless purchase

*2020-09-06*

Does not work. Should be removed under trade descriptions.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2020-07-23*

I feel really ripped off by this company and this application. If a person digs deep enough you can find the statement at the App Store that says, in essence, it doesn’t work with an Apple Watch 4.
One can point the watch in a known direction, and then use the watch bezel to dial in that direction. Then the Compass will function. Right up until such time as you touch the bezel again, in a place where you don’t know what’s what, have no idea what direction is what. And then you’re screwed. If your life depends on this Compass, you will probably die.

**Developer response:** If you have an older Watch without a compass sensor, then only the device's gyro is used and you need to calibrate it via the digital crown. This works well and is the closest you will come to a compass function on an older Watch. To have automatic calibration you would need a Series 5 Watch or newer, which uses the compass sensor to calibrate the gyro for you in realtime. Apple doesn't give us the option to block sales to people with older watches so we have been very proactive about posting this information in the app description, on our website, and in several Youtube videos. Please contact us via hrtapps.com if you need further assistance, and you can also view a couple usage videos on Youtube (linked from http://hrtapps.com/procompasswatch/ or search on youtube).

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2020-07-22*

Purchasing the app for the phone does not get it for the watch - you have to buy it again for the watch. Then it dies not work on my watch (S3) - only on S5. There is a gyro feature where you can calibrate the watch app using another compass - but then whats the point! You have to calibrate every time the watch app is selected. Utterly useless, defies the trade descriptions act.

### 5/5 — Working well

*2025-07-28*

A little difficult to install, however works well.

**Developer response:** Go to the App Store on your Watch (not iPhone) and look in Account > Purchases. You can install the app from there if it did not install automatically after purchase. This is an independent Watch app and does not use the iPhone or iPhone App Store.

### 5/5 — Great App — Great Support

*2024-07-13*

I had some trouble getting the compass to move off North so I sent an email to developer Craig Hunter. He responded in less than 2 hours telling me what to do and sent another email to assure I had location services set correctly. I’m now enjoying using the compass to keep me oriented while wandering around. Very accurate and easy to use. Craig clearly cares for his app as well as his customers. 5 stars for customer support and 5 stars for the app! Paul P.

### 5/5 — Full MGRS

*2023-05-01*

Well done full MGRS in mils outstanding. The only other issue I need more than 5 waypoints. Great thanks for the update.

### 5/5 — Great App - Best Compass ever!

*2023-04-07*

The app is fantastic- the problem I was having was user error (on my part). When you actually read the instructions (which are well written and easy to follow) this app becomes the best Compass you’ll ever have. Well worth the cost. I highly recommend this.

**Developer response:** This means you did not grant the app permission to use location services when it first launched. To correct this, open Settings on your iPhone, go to Privacy & Security > Location Services, and scroll down to "Pro Compass for Watch". Set the permission to "While Using". Contact us at hrtapps.com if you need further assistance.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2023-02-19*

Nice, works great. Inexpensive and no subscription. I got the bundle for my watch and wish I had it gotten for my phone also.

### 5/5 — THE compass to use

*2022-11-18*

This is a functional app that also looks great on your watch. It does so much more than the basic Apple compass. And the price is for purchase, not a subscription. There’s nothing not to like.

### 5/5 — Very good

*2022-04-05, version 1.0.1*

An excellent compass app that does everything it says on the tin. My one minor suggestion would be that the sun and moon be made bigger and the sun bolder. It’s a little too subtle!

I’ve read the developer’s reviews of the iMac Pro and 2019 Mac Pro. He’s an advanced mathematical modeller and knows his stuff, which shows in these apps

### 5/5 — Very cool, when you grok it.

*2020-07-05*

Running successfully on Watch Series2. This is a gyrocompass. Each time you use it, you first initialize it to a reference direction. Then it uses the gyroscope capabilities of the watch to maintain that reference. Works for me well on hikes and on the bike. Bubble levels do their thing just fine, too, and add to accuracy when you respect them for a directional reading. Note that you load this software directly on watch using App Store watch app, not your phone. Read what developer is saying, I didn’t get it the first time. Worth a bit of focus.

### 5/5 — Ottima

*2020-02-29*

Per chi non ha l’apple Watch serie 5 è perfetta !!! Complimenti 👏👏👏
