### 4/5 — Fun to play but hard to get ahead

*2023-09-07*

Very nice graphics’s and fun to play. Can get a little addictive. The only thing I seem to notice is it will let you win a lot more playing the free game to build up your confidence so you might put a wager on a game then it seems to get a lot harder to win and you will never get ahead because you always bet more than you can win. Have fun and play smart.

### 4/5 — Head 2 Head

*2022-09-13, version 2.9.9*

I like the graphics and controls other than I wish I could lock portrait or landscape mode and not switch in between when I move the phone.I think the game would be a lot better against real competitors head-to-head and real eight ball games or nine ball games. Instead of playing against a robot.

### 4/5 — Pro pool

*2021-05-16, version 2.3.4*

Fairly good game, but shooting the cue sometimes takes a couple tries. Has froze up a couple times. The cue shooter disappears occasionally. Work out these glitches and I will risk playing for money

### 4/5 — Simplistic yet fun!

*2019-11-13, version 2.1.4*

They have hit the nail on the head.

The game itself still has some issues, but still fun.

The best part is....you don’t have to spend a penny. The game takes you by the hand and teaches you everything to make you successful.

The tutorial is simple, but complex. You can play and replay their tutorials until you feel you have mastered them. Which is nice!

Once you start playing, they make it easy to earn in game currency and be able to keep playing. Did I mention, it’s AD FREE!!!!!!!

I’m a unpaid activist, who is taking his precious playing time to write this, unsponsored review.

The only complaint that I have would be, the not so common total app crash upon winning a game or starting a new Live game.

### 5/5 — Best 8pool app

*2019-03-13, version 2.1.2*

Def. loving this a lot. The popular 8pool by miniclip is really fun but this one is way better cause you get to compete for real cash prizes. Great time killer when you’re bored. Just higher stakes for straight 1 vs 1 would be awesome too since the only higher stakes are for certain competitions. Other than that great game!

### 5/5 — Great game and Tech Support.

*2019-02-20, version 2.1.2*

Very good game great to play. Can connect with others easily. App sometimes crashes during games but when I contact tech support they resolve my issues in a timely manner. Great company.

### 4/5 — Great game

*2018-12-27, version 2.0.4*

The game is fairly realistic. The hardest part of the game is anticipating where the cue ball is going to end up. As far as the money part goes, the only ones winning are the creators. They make .20 on every $1 game played regardless of outcome. It won’t make you rich, but it does add a little spice to the game.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2018-10-10, version 1.9.2*

Way better than that other pool game. You know the one. 😜. Plus can play for cash if you want. I haven't played many cash games but it adds a level of concentration.

### 4/5 — New cue

*2018-08-18, version 1.9.2*

Very fun game. My only issue is that I’d like to upgrade my cue and though it is suggested on multiple pages in the game, there is not a way to do it that I have found. Even Skillz customer support cannot assist which is frustrating.

### 5/5 — Ok so Id always rather tell the truth, even if...

*2018-06-21, version 1.9.2*

Even if it’s not on my side. Being objective is absolute.
Ok first the “Skillz” peeps have few games. The first one I tried was dominos.
This one I don’t even have any more. It crashes and STEALS your money. I don’t recommend.
Pool and the bowling game do crash once in a while. But you get you cash back easy enough.
Both are done really well, very life like.

### 4/5 — Great game!

*2018-05-07, version 1.9.2*

I absolutely love this game! However, every time that I open it there is a chance that it won’t load at all, the screen just stays blank, I don’t know if anybody else is having this problem but please fix. Definitely needs an update

### 5/5 — Can win some money, but takes time.

*2018-02-18, version 1.9.2*

You don't play people live. You join the match and take your turn, then the opponent has up to 7 days to take their turn. So if you play solid, you can win money in time.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It’s junk

*2019-12-14, version 2.3.4*

I don’t see any recent reviews of this game. I used to really enjoy playing it because it was fun to play against others in real time. I would never spend any real money and would warn others against that as well. You can look at the house take on winnings and figure out that is a rip off. Anyway, they did an update recently and the game is not even fun anymore. I’ve since deleted the app and will look elsewhere. I don’t think skillz is a very honest company and I don’t understand why they would change the game like they did. I’ve emailed support with a couple of different issues and they are unresponsive. I feel for the folks that have lost real money playing this game.

### 1/5 — This game is garbage. They rob your money !!!

*2019-03-14, version 2.1.2*

I’ve played this app for the past year and since the recent update about 6 months ago the game constantly crashes in the middle of cash games which cause you to lose your money. Ive submitted so many tickets that they no longer refund me and they request crash logs now. So basically in order to get refunded for their poor app crashing I have to take my time to hook my phone up to a computer and email them the crash logs along with every match that crashed ID. Its completely a ripoff the only readon I still play is because Im playing with bonus cash right now. As soon as all my bonus cash is gone im done !!! Its a complete scam dont bother wasting your time or money on this app.

### 1/5 — Fun game but....

*2019-01-29, version 2.1.2*

I’ve had the app for 2 days now and have been playing quite a bit. It’s a really fun game but the app crashes constantly. It has caused me to lose cash games where I would have won. Each crash I report to skillz and they are good with refunding the initial investment for the match, but I’d exponentially more money than I currently do because of this issue. For instance, if you’re playing a cash match with someone and you have a score of 10 and haven’t lost the match yet but then boom.... crash. If you go back into the app and go to that match that states a loss, you can see the opponents score of 2 so you would have beat them at the current state you were at; however, it will state abandoned because it thinks you left the app due to the crash. It only seems to crash for me during cash games but it has caused me to lose a lot of cash games and cash tournaments where I would have won. Skillz has stated that if you close the app and restart it that it typically fixes the problem, however, it did not in my situation. It’s a fun game and I’d recommend it, but ONLY if you have patience to deal with all the crashes and don’t get too upset when you “lose” money, in the sense that you lose what you would have won. Skillz will refund your initial cost for the match but nothing can be done in regards to the $15 in matches that I should have won had it not been for a crash in the game.

### 1/5 — Wow! Fake game!

*2018-04-20, version 1.9.2*

I agree with all the other negative reviews all they do is take your money. I have a bunch of friends that have this game and they say the same thing. Then I stop playing it and they send me an email saying if I don’t log in my account there gonna charge me a 2$ monthly maintenance fee. So I go on to tryin cancel my account and funny thing is there support center has been down all week so I can’t even cancel my account. Don’t get it, all they do is play you.

### 1/5 — Can anyone even access any of the cue sticks??

*2018-02-15, version 1.9.2*

I don’t remember logging in through my Facebook and Twitter with this app but I am able to post through both when it comes to promoting this app through this app. However, when it comes to sharing and posting to unlock cue sticks, I am all of a sudden unable to?!?! What scam!

With this app, you’ll be playing with the the worst accuracy and unrealistic pool physics! How can a ball curve without manipulating the angle of the stick or changing where to hit the white ball?!? Playing this app has been a waste of my time!

### 1/5 — Don't download it.

*2017-05-02, version 1.9.2*

I've been trying to download this app since two days ago and when I go to the App Store and says it's already down and there was open option when I tap open nothing shows up. on my main screen is still showing that it's been installing thank God I have Wi-Fi connection because it could've been burning my data for no reason and I can't remove it from the phone I'm gonna need to factory reset my phone to remove it.

### 2/5 — Glitches and bad scoring system

*2020-10-20, version 2.3.4*

I really like pool/billiard style apps, but there are a few issues with this one. Mainly the scoring system is flawed, it sets you up a tie most of the time, like probably 75% of the time. You score either 0 for a loss or 1 for a win. If both you and the person you are matched with win, or lose, you have to play a tie breaker. And then another and another until someone actually wins vs the other losing their game. A different scoring system based on points per shot would be much better, and less likely to result in a tie.

The other issue is the power meter. For some reason about midway through the match, the power meter starts to sort of flash between showing the whole meter, or blacking out the whole meter. But it flashes A LOT, like I am not prone to seizures but I imagine someone who is would have a real problem with it. It personally gives me a headache and is extremely distracting.

Besides these two issues I haven’t played too many matches yet, (the flashing meter is distracting enough that I don’t want to play often at all) but it seems like an otherwise decent game. If you can update me once you’ve addressed the issues I’ll gladly change my review.

### 2/5 — Don’t play real money!

*2019-09-17, version 2.1.4*

The rake is a rip off, not for them but for players. You really aren’t “winning” the dollar amount, yet it is a fraction of yours and opponents wager. They’re taking 17%, heck casinos only pull 10%, and that percentage is the same no matter the wager.

Just play the practice Z for a bit before you fall for cash trap.

Plus, I found I kept playing same guys over and over again, not much fun in that.

### 2/5 — Too many Crashes

*2019-03-16, version 2.1.2*

This app crashes absolutely too many times! It has crashed 6x’s in two days. I haven’t lost a game yet, but the system says I have because it has crashed. When it crashes, you lose. You can’t even reopen it and resume your match. Why would I play for real money when the app won’t even stay open. I will stick with 8 ball pool until they decide to fix the crash issues that quite a few people have been mentioning for what looks like a few months now. Also the controls are a bit difficult to use. Once you get use to them it is not that bad, but it is hard to aim at times when the cue ball is against the rail or in a corner. Great idea, but there are still a lot of bugs that need to be fixed before taking people’s money. I gave it 2 stars because I like the view and concept of being able to gamble.

### 2/5 — 4-6 weeks for withdraw

*2018-05-19, version 1.9.2*

They make it so easy to deposit money why can’t it be the same for withdrawing money. It’s seems ridiculous that you can deposit money through your PayPal account but you can’t withdraw money through your PayPal account. Instead they want your address to mail a check that takes forever seems kind of shady and if you can really win money in this game everyone would be playing it. It’s kind of a bummer. They could make this really cool if they wanted too. Graphics are cool but if I’m playing in a free pool setting I prefer 8 ball through miniclip the gameplay and functionality is way better and you don’t have to wait around for your next turn. I've waited hours just to play my next shot lol. If 8 miniclip had cashplay match ups this game wouldn’t even exist.

**Developer response:** Hey justinholt808, we agree that faster withdrawals would be fantastic and we're always working towards improvements here. Skillz have a lot to process as part of their player protection cheat and fraud detection systems. There are a lot of checks required and some of these take time - these systems are in place to protect players from cheats and keep the system fair. On a more exciting note, real time play will be enabled any day now, you'll play against opponents in real time!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love Love LOVE this game!

*2020-04-23, version 2.3.4*

I downloaded 3 pool apps and this was THE best as far as easy to learn and play & have deleted the others. So many apps out there rob not only our piggy banks but our real banks with what they charge just to be able to play certain features & they are a total rip off. But NOT this one! You are earning with every play in cash or tickets so it's a total win win situation. The game actually helps you with live pool at billiards halls! I usually get really bored after playing games awhile but I never get bored with this one and don't think I ever will. Highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Playing pool

*2020-02-16, version 2.3.4*

I like the game. The computer makes shots that you will never make and win more than you, it’s fun, but just a hobby. If you plan on breaking this bank, forget it.

### 5/5 — Having Fun, But....

*2020-02-08, version 2.3.4*

The games are fun, but the bets seem a bit off to me. For $1 to win games, you pay $.60 to enter, and if you win, you win $.40. You never see a $1 increase in your winnings, only 40¢. So you actually get your 60¢ back + 40¢ and that’s how you win $1. In all bets I have ever made where it shows how much I will win, I win my money back + the amount to win. So if I am betting $5 and the winner gets $3, I will have $8 going into my account. The way they have it set up, you bet $3 and win $5 (actually $2), instead of $8. So it seems kind of backwards to me. Other than that, it’s a great game.

### 5/5 — Super challenging...But super fun!!

*2020-02-03, version 2.3.4*

If you love to play pool, this is a fun app!! The cpu battles are a bit challenging, when the cpu makes almost unbelievable shots, but that also doesn’t mean that it couldn’t be done in real life! #efrenbatareyes I can relate to this game in real life!! Just like anything, this game will let you have amazing fun while getting to know your cue stick and angles!!

### 5/5 — Excellent graphics and gameplay

*2019-09-09, version 2.1.4*

Found this app after spending way too much time on another popular 8ball pool game. Great game if you just want to play without getting bugged about recharging a cue or spinning for coins. Hours of fun in this Skillz app.

### 5/5 — 8 ball pool

*2019-07-20, version 2.1.4*

Love the game but could use a few changes. Such as being able to get to the table settings without starting a game and having a place on your profile for your high score

### 5/5 — Love this game!

*2019-06-25, version 2.1.4*

I have had a few pool apps but this one is my favorite of all I’ve tried! The competitions are great! Skillz esports is a great place to play and win tournaments and matches and yes you can and do actually win real money! I just have the problem of never cashing out because if I did I would just deposit more and play with that so I just keep playing!
Love the graphics and the tools to use to see your aim and the overhead camera view is a nice feature as well! Great job on this game!

### 5/5 — Juniors Feedback.

*2019-06-01, version 2.1.4*

I can honestly say this has to be my favorite app ever since I found it. Never experienced nothing like this on my cell phone that’s a fact. The features of the game are so realistic and so accurate. That’s my favorite part about this game.i honestly think it still needs more improvement on game results. But I understand how hard it must be to keep up with hundreds of people and give live results in a matter of seconds. Overall my favorite app

### 5/5 — Yes my dream type of game

*2019-04-21, version 2.1.4*

So yes you wanna make extra money well you can practice with this and play for real money. Once you download it look at the prizes, omg bmw and porche. Dream car here I come. ;) thank you for letting this happen.

### 5/5 — Skillz is awesome

*2019-03-22, version 2.1.2*

I’m getting more hooked on the game the more I play. Every match is more intense than the last. I’m adding all of my friends to my monthly tournaments. I don’t think they should miss out.
