I’m on a diet, and this makes it so much easier for me instead of having to search up every single product I want’s title, and asking if it’s processed or not. It also helped me learned the different levels of processed- ultra processed, processed, minimally processed, and whole food. I was looking for a tool to help me reduce or eliminate ultra processed food from my diet. This is it. Scan the barcode, and it tells you where it falls on the NOVA scale, with a nice detailed explanation of why. Barcode isn’t in their database? The appearance is very appealing and it’s so easy to scan a product. What makes it phenomenal, in my mind, is that if a barcode scan doesn’t return a matching food, it has you take a picture of the ingredient list and it matches those ingredients with its database to develop a rating for you. That’s pretty incredible. This app is doing a great service to the health of its users. Thank you for this app. ### 5/5 — Great simple app that has room to grow *2025-01-08* Love this app. It’s so easy to use. Definitely has some bugs though. I have two brands of an item with the exact same ingredient list but one is processed and one is ultra processed? You still have to use common sense. It would also be great if you could search the database. It would be much faster to be able to see what brands of varieties of things are better for you rather than having to individually scan each one as you walk through the grocery store. I think everyone would find this app extremely useful especially with confusing marketing presented on some food items My only query is that when I scan an item and save it, it doesn’t add it to my history which is a little annoying. Sometimes I may not have the barcode right in front of me, or want to research alternatives to products I have. For example, I’d love to be able to search various brands/types of almond milk that other customers have scanned in, allowing me to find “minimally processed” options. **Developer response:** Hey! Apart from the fact it’s free with no in app purchase (as of writing this) it’s very helpful for use as guidance, especially concerning ultra processed food and drink. I know that most carbonated drinks (sugar free) fall victim to this - but as a warning it’s better than not knowing any of this at all. Parents with children who are sensitive to these kind of ingredients will be thankful by not having a hyperactive rug rat climbing the walls. **Developer response:** Hey! Tried again today. It finally scanned ingredients in 1 item. It did not find the one item I tried to look up. But the interface to the camera on a phone is not good. The orientation of the pictures is off which makes it hard to take a quick pic without turning the item sideways. Additionally, if the item has a small barcode or ingredients, you cannot leverage the focus function of the camera as you get closer to what you are scanning. When you try and take a picture from far away, the accuracy of the ingredients analysis is WAY off. I have noticed the app will add ingredients that don’t exist in the item, making the accuracy unreliable. Just keeps saying it can’t detect ingredients. Doesn’t matter how close up or far away the list is. Just won’t read it. Tried a few times on several different items. We're here to help! ### 2/5 — Not sure I trust this app *2026-06-25* A supplement I scanned a while back was showing as minimally processed. After updating the app, it is now ultra processed. The ingredients have not changed. Some scans require scan of barcode and then the ingredients (which was the case for this one). For this particular supplement, it noted the items that made it ultra processed. For another brand where I only had to scan the bar code (didn’t have to scan ingredients) it said these same ingredients were not a problem. It actually listed those ingredients in the notes after the scan, too. I will attach 2 app captures if I’m able. ### 2/5 — Bugs *2025-06-13* There's a bug where it's just a black screen when u try to scan something, even though the camera permission is on.
