My alarm system is great, except for the app. This app decides on the day whether to work or not, and leaves you racing for the manual control pad to turn the system off. The spinning wheel of doom - the ‘will it or won’t it work’ is just a massive frustration. PLEASE can you make the thing more stable…? ### 2/5 — No Reliability *2026-07-13, version 3.0.2* My professionally installed physical alarm system generally seems to work okay but when controlling any functionality of the alarm via the app any success becomes a matter of complete chance. Quite often it fails to connect with the message “gathering system information” then a buffering indication goes on and on culminating with a failed connection. Totally undermines my confidence in the system away from the home. Informed the installer of my system but always a bit vague about any long term solutions. It has a 40% failure rate on initial launch. Lately, it’s been plagued by constant timeouts, taking up to 7 minutes of repeated login attempts just to reach the dashboard. It’s unreliable for a security product ### 2/5 — Push notifications have stopped working *2026-01-02, version 3.0.2* ProControl+ does not register for background tasks on iOS and no longer appears in Background App Refresh. Push notifications have stopped completely. The main thing we use it for is the notifications. After reviewing lots of online forums and trying a multitude of possible fixes, the issue appears to be with the app as our camera still sends notifications on the HikConnect app and it works perfectly on the same phone. ### 1/5 — Needs Urgent Upgrade *2025-11-04, version 3.0.2* This app is quite possibly the worst performing app I have used. The main basic purpose I require from this app is to have access to remotely arm & disarm my house alarm. It would be ideal if I was able to use that facility, BUT instead, ‘Unable to connect’ following a painstaking amount of time looking at a timer is what I see more often than not. To the developers, please spend some time, effort and money improving this substandard platform. ### 1/5 — Impossible to use *2025-08-08, version 3.0.2* Just changed router and now my house alarm screams in the house intermittently and I can’t update the app with new router password. I then tried the Hik-connect app instead which works a lot better and much more intuitive. Reasons why the ProControl+ is below expectations as follows: -it is not intuitive therefore it is difficult to find features and having to search for them is not easy. An example would be looking for a particular time and finding how to playback. -notifications are horribly delayed or don’t appear at all which defeats the whole object of a notification. -on playback of an intrusion alert you cannot view it in horizontal full screen. It only lets you view it in vertical small screen which is annoying. Above are just a few examples on day one ! ### 1/5 — No notifications *2024-06-19, version 3.0.2* Linked to a hikvision cctv nvr . Do not waste your money! *2026-08-22, version 3.0.2* I had these just over a year when the first one when completely offline and would not come back on. Had the installer come back out and found circuit board fried inside. The second camera is so completely unreliable that it’s so frustrating. Occasionally works, most of the time I get the message about network being unstable despite having a really high standard of WiFi connection. Only this camera has issues. I was talked out of getting Ring cameras but my biggest regret was not sticking with my own gut instinct at the time. £200+ wasted! Utter, utter garbage! ### 1/5 — Notifications have stopped working *2026-02-03, version 3.0.2* I rely on iPhone notifications that my alarm has been set as I am partially deaf and cannot hear the alarm set tone. The whole point was to have app access to the alarm system but it constantly disconnects the phone, error on logins and generally clunky and poorly developed. No idea why it’s so bad other than being built on poor and out of date technologies that don’t talk seamlessly to the devices it sits on. Being able to control it remotely was one of the features that sold it to me. The app was working perfectly fine, then one day stopped working. My phone and broadband was exactly the same, nothing had changed. I emailed Pyronix and asked someone to call me to resolve it. A few emails from different people later, after all of them ignoring my plea for a call, and trying several times to ring them, my issue is still unresolved. They said my device needed authorising by the installer. The installer had authorised my device and is saying it’s a weak signal from the broadband. To them it’s showing that I’m logging in. The reason for this particular install was the opportunity to have both CCTV and Alarm within a single application. I have to tell you, this application performance is purely based on the quality of your installation. I vigorously stress tested the app, and if something wasn’t working, the installer and I would overcome the problem. For example - you really need a strong internet connection for everything. We found this out very quickly. Right now I have been using the app for 3 weeks and overall very happy and pleasantly surprised by the speed and what it can do. Pros: - Speed of the app is impressive - CCTV Window that appears - Reliability (so far) - Performance and Features Requested improvements - Ability to watch motion detection footage at x2/x4 Speed - Ability for footage to identify what has moved in recording - Ability to filter motion detection footage list by specific camera and not device - Ability to see what mobile devices have access to account - Ability to view 6 cameras (currently jumps from 4 to 9) - Ability to set push notifications per specific camera that are connected via NVR. Cons: - Face Detection Notifications has never worked. - Motion Sensor at its lowest level is still really sensitive. Overall I’m very happy with the experience, but feel there are improvements to be made. Hopefully this feedback is considered. ### 4/5 — Improvement over old App. *2019-03-20* I just use this application for monitoring my Pyronix Alarm. Generally it works very well, allowing me to see when my alarm is set/disarmed, or when it’s been activated. There is one feature I would really like to see added though. It would great to be able to remotely ‘activate’ an alarm from the app itself. I have a separate CCTV system. I sometimes wonder what my choices would be if I saw somebody acting suspiciously, or trying to break into my property? At the moment, all I could do would be to call the police and wait for them to arrive. Being in a remote village, this could take them a considerable amount of time. To be able to sign into the alarm panel and remotely activate a ‘panic button’ (possibly scaring them away), would be a handy feature to have. Could this be incorporated?
