### 2/5 — Nice mag but app very poor

*2021-04-01*

I was looking forward to getting this regularly but had nothing but trouble with the app & the account set up. Finally got a mag down only to find I can only have it on either my iPad or my phone. Not both. Considering cancelling

### 1/5 — I strongly advise against patronizing Prog Magazine.

*2015-07-01*

It's bad enough Apple Newsstand app blows, but the conversion to the this new app made me lose every single back issue magazine that I purchased.

If you had the misfortune to upload this crappy app, good bye magazines. You can't even contact them for some type of reimbursement. Apple will give you the run around to email them which lead you to write a scathing filled review like this.

I would rather pay the import higher price than to ever purchase anything from the publishers of Prog Magazine or this crappy app.

### 1/5 — Don't update until you've read this!

*2015-04-02*

I updated this app a week ago, and lost all my back issues, including 2 I had only purchased the week before and hadn't read.
The magazines FAQ section warns that this will happen, gee that would have been useful information to have BEFORE I updated. They advise you to supply iTunes Store receipts and they will restore your previous purchases. Don't know about you but I don't tend to store iTunes receipts for any length of time.
Contacted support a week ago and haven't heard anything back.
Won't be buying anymore issues until this is resolved.
Update- I've now supplied all receipts but still my magazines won't restore. I've now had 3 responses from the magazines support advising that this is a iTunes subscription issue, nothing to do with their updated app then? Really poor customer service.
Final update. Still no resolution to my issue, although Apple have kindly reimbursed me for the 2 unread issues. Complete silence from Future Publishing to my requests. I have now deleted all Future Publishing apps from my iPad and cancelled my subscription to the other magazines I used to purchase.

### 1/5 — Avoid at all costs

*2014-11-21*

New iPad - all of my magazines will not show up. All of my others magazine apps - type in password and restore - done. This is the only mag app I own that you will spent countless hours trying to use the content you bought.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2014-11-17*

Just a warning to potential customers...
I had previously bought quite a few issues of the magazine through the old app.

When the new updated app replaced the old one, the issues I had bought previously were no longer available to download.

After numerous emails to the publisher I was told there was nothing they could/would do.

The thought of having digital issues in 'The cloud' that can be downloaded at any time appealed to me.... Unfortunately this seems to be a pipe dream. The publisher is quite happy to take the money but offer no solution if they decide to no longer host issues one has previously purchased.

It's such a shame as magazine itself is excellent.

### 1/5 — Library gone

*2014-11-15*

My Prog, Total Film and SFX subscriptions have disappeared since the last iOS update.

### 1/5 — Screwed again

*2014-09-04*

Lost all my back issues. Either restore or refund them. Am I supposed just trust you and buy again?

### 1/5 — Great magazine Horrible App!

*2014-08-25*

Per the other reviews, the onus is on the subscriber to prove their subscription. So I won't go into that. The real problem is how terrible the new app is! All your old magazines can't be read on the new app. Plus the new app is confusing trying to figure out how to turn pages and scroll up and down and sideways. What's the point of all that??? How any of that better than turning a page? Love the magazine. Absolutely hate the new format.

### 3/5 — Almost there, but needs some tweeks!

*2014-08-25*

Managed to transfer my subscription over to the new app.
This took 2 emails and approx 2 weeks to complete. Team Rock did apologise for the delay.
This App is generally better in looks and functionality than the old one however two features have been lost.

1: NO page zoom function, which can be very useful.

2: NO portrait/landscape viewing option available.

Great read - recommended

### 1/5 — Yet another AWFUL changeover from Future to TeamRock

*2014-08-22*

I really enjoy PROG magazine, and having access to it while traveling via an App has generally been a good thing. However, both this changeover and the one for the sister publication Classic Rock have been woefully managed by TeamRock. First, you just stop getting updates about new issues. Once you figure out that you need to download the new TeamRock app, you do so. But that's where the "fun" really begins. Despite being a paid up customer with Apple's store, TeamRock claims that they cannot verify your subscription. As a result, you are required to take the additional step of proving (via receipt or screen capture) that you have the subscription that you've already paid for and been charged for. It's practically criminal, and I cannot believe that TeamRock did not factor in a transfer of the customer list and subscription lengths from Future when the purchase was concluded. The whole process feels very disorganized and unprofessional (while I'll admit that the staff answering questions has been friendly). Nonetheless, it is OUTRAGEOUS that any of have to "prove" ownership of something we've already bought through the App Store. Just awful.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This app is trash and they stole my money.

*2023-06-09*

Just shutdown, took all my back issues away and now doesn’t work at all. I have no idea why Apple lets this rotting corpse stay in the App Store. Avoid this app at all costs.

### 1/5 — My old purchases are not available

*2023-05-18*

The issues I purchased 5 years or so ago no longer appear in my library; I followed all instructions in the help screen multiple times with no effect. I would like to purchase issues but I think I can “find” it elsewhere; if your app doesn’t work, what do expect people to do.

### 1/5 — Been years with no fixes

*2021-03-07*

It's March 2021, and I'm experiencing the same issues that have been posted here for six years. Purchased issues have been deleted and not restored, then total login failures that haven't been addressed. Can't change your password or otherwise workaround log in errors. They have my money, and I remain locked out. Ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Paying for extras

*2019-07-20*

Why do you have to pay for extras you get free with the printed edition e.g. the Jethro Tull magazine ?

### 1/5 — Used to be a huge fan

*2017-02-18*

The latest app update deleted all issues and after restoring purchases, am missing a number of special issues that I purchased over the years. This is completely unacceptable. Fix this or give refunds on what we bought.

### 1/5 — Rip off!

*2016-07-02*

Old Prog app won't open previously purchased issues - it crashes. New Prog app doesn't restore previous purchases...!!? Do they really expect people to buy issues a second time?

### 1/5 — Prog Mag

*2016-05-30*

I love the magazine a lot but I have to give it a negative review here at this time. For some reason, despite being on up-to-date software with my iPhone 6S, it is impossible to read the content the past 2-3 issues. The font is not in HD and is impossible to read without zooming in. Unfortunately, all I get is a bunch of blurry letters. I will be cancelling my subscription if the next issue presents the same problem.

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish

*2015-11-21*

Don't even bother downloading, you can't get to the issue you want and if you do try to contact customer service, it's the worst in the world.
Don't sign up for direct debit either as they never acknowledge any communication.
Sadly there is not a zero star option.

### 1/5 — Having A Laugh

*2015-10-16*

Just updated app only to discover I no longer have any rights to the numerous back issues I have bought from this publisher. The small print does inform you of this but that is where you usually look when you have a problem. This is supposed to be the future but if the publisher came into my home and removed a box of printed back issues I know what I would call it - theft.

### 1/5 — A mess

*2015-07-03*

This is a complete mess, over-elaborate interface make this a nightmare to read. Please make it simple so I can read it.

### 5/5 — Still brilliant

*2014-10-02*

A swift and timely update to iOS8 and I can keep reading my issues of Prog. The articles are unmatched in the UK and I keep learning about fantastic new bands. A must have tablet magazine.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2014-10-02*

Addition to my digital mag collection! Great stuff!

### 5/5 — Vastly improved reading experience

*2014-08-21*

New app is smart and sassy everything the old app wasn't. Very good customer service got my subscription restored.
Prog on!

### 5/5 — Loving the new app!

*2014-08-19*

A few emails and the switch to the new app was complete. No real problems for me. A brief mixup re subscription dates was dealt with quickly and efficiently (within minutes), very happy, and I think the new app is a great improvement!

### 3/5 — Needs to be improved

*2014-12-19*

I have been subscribing to Prog digital for sometime now and have waited for a few issues of the new version to be published before commenting. The original version was great, you could zoom in on a page ALL of the paper version of the mag was there to read. But the new digital version has removed the zooming function so for some of us who need glasses it's not as easy to read and apart from Adverts for Prog mag they have removed all of the adverts from record dealers, publishers, concert venues etc. how the heck they can cover costs is a question. They should put the adverts back as these made the original version and now I'm thinking of having to go back to buying the paper one and not the modern digital version!
