## What is Programmable Metronome?

In addition to basic metronome functionality with a flashing visual indicator, this application provides a page of re-programmable buttons that allow frequently used tempos to be saved with a long-press and played back again at a single tap. A group of twelve buttons can be saved and recalled later to facilitate as many sets of tempos as a user could need (button groups can also be deleted with a long-press). On the main page, the user can choose between entering a tempo manually, or tapping in their own beat on the top half of the screen, which the app will use as a tempo. The app also includes two final features: a metric modulation calculator, useful for converting tempos in sheet music that uses metric modulation notation instead of specifying a tempo change in absolute terms; and a tempo watch that can be used to figure out the tempo of a song or beat that is currently playing.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-06-29

Updated metric modulation calculator so that the whole note is sized and aligned appropriately when compared to the notes with stems. Playback of metronome will now continue when the application is running in the background and can be paused from the Notification Center.
