## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad ui

*2025-06-13*

Needs user testing

**Developer response:** Hi! What specific issues do you have? Feel free to write an e-mail to: martin@devpie.de

### 1/5 — Won’t allow access even when subscribed

*2020-11-04*

You can only access 2 of your workouts. After that, it asks you to subscribe to access more. I’m already subscribed. What a rip

**Developer response:** Hey, subscribers should have full access. Could you please contact me via e-mail (martin@devpie.de) to solve this issue? Other then that, try to restore your subscription under „More“ > „Full version“.

### 1/5 — Only allows 2 workouts

*2019-11-13*

Recurring bills or high annual price

**Developer response:** Yes, as a free user, you can only use 2 workouts. If you pay the yearly subscription, you would pay 2,50$ a month.

If that is too much for someone is something everyone has to decide for himself. However, what I can say is that this amount adds up with a growing userbase and helps me as a developer to focus more time on this app. This means that the value of this app will increase by adding features and solving issues.

If you are missing something in this app which would make a subscription more reasonable for you, please let me know: martin.pietrowski@devpie.de

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2017-07-31, version 2.3*

Buggy, poor grammar didn't bode well...

### 2/5 — It’s alright

*2026-07-23*

Idk about you guys but I can’t go back to edit or add a workout in. I can’t even delete it if I made a mistake.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm sorry to hear you have issues.

I can help you if you provide me more information or a screenshot. Feel free to contact me: martin@devpie.de

Do you mean you started a workout and you want to edit that workout, e.g. adding an exercise? That's currently not supported - I consider to add this feature.

If you mean editing a finished workout: In your log you can swipe to edit a log entry to edit a specific workout session.

### 2/5 — Great app but pricing is ridiculous

*2021-11-07, version 2021.5*

£30 a year for a simple CRUD app? This is ridiculous. No way in hell is this app worth this much. The effort required for this is tiny. This is worth £5, maybe £10 max as a one off. Change the pricing to something reasonable and you might actually get some traction on this. Till then, I’m looking elsewhere.

### 3/5 — Built in timer?

*2018-11-23*

Not sure if I’ve figured out this app yet, but it sure would be great if it had a tapata timer!

**Developer response:** Hi,

A timer has been introduced. Let me know what you think!

Best regards from Cologne, Germany!

### 5/5 — 5* for years, never lets me down

*2026-02-26, version 2026.5*

This really is the only app you need. I’m serious. It’s easy to use, it tracks things perfectly, it automatically increases weight, logs are great. The developer is also great and has added features after I’ve requested them which is so rare these days. I’d give 6* if
I could <3

### 5/5 — Great for pros and beginners alike!

*2022-08-14*

I’m getting back into strength/weights training for the first time in nearly a decade and this app is a phenomenal tool. I was able find a program online and enter it into this app (one workout for each day of the 12-week program I found). Not only have I been able to adjust my workouts depending on what my gym has available, but it keeps me motivated knowing I’ll be able to compare progress with my beginning reps/weight versus where I’ll be in a few months. The paid version is totally worth it for being able to enter a whole week’s-worth of workouts.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your great feedback. It is always great to see that users like you see the same value in Progression as I do. I hope you will achieve your goals with Progression 💪

### 5/5 — Simple

*2021-12-29*

Easy. Simple. Just what I need.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your rating! I'm glad you like the app.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Cannot recommend it enough

*2021-12-13, version 2021.5*

I wish I had the money to pay for the premium subscription because it’s 100% worth supporting the app.
I’d be completely happy to watch an ad every time I start a workout session because it’s everything you need in a progression app!

### 5/5 — Great for progressing

*2021-06-25, version 2021.4*

Once you get use to it, it’s such an amazing tool for progression and building muscle, my squat has gone up so much because of me tracking progress through this app

### 5/5 — THE BEST gym app you can get

*2019-11-18, version 2.10*

This app makes it incredibly easy to just focus on lifting weights and progressive overload. It’s really easy to use, and works perfectly every time.

I’d love to see a charting feature to show how my lifts have increased over time.

### 5/5 — Great workout log

*2019-11-10*

Easy to develop workouts and track progress. Exactly what I have been looking for. But latest update the app is not usable. The app crashes every time I go edit anything. Loved the app until this.

**Developer response:** Hey,

There seems to be an issue regarding editing which I am already investigating. Please send me an email (martin.pietrowski@devpie.de) to explain me where exactly the app crashes. For example, does it crash immediately after opening the edit view or after scrolling?

Unfortunately I am currently not able to repoduce this issue on my test device.

### 5/5 — Best free weightlifting tracker

*2019-02-26*

The new updates with timer and edits are exactly what it needed.
Effective and simple for 5x5 routines or other basic lifting programs.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2018-12-17, version 2.7.1*

Hands down the best workout i’ve ever used. Simple, straight forward UI but at the same time it helps me in my workout so much. Is there a future for an apple watch app?

### 5/5 — Simple and just Works

*2018-06-05*

Not gonna give it one less star for what it doesn’t have. But wish I could back it up on some type of cloud for .99 version. Would pay for the. I’m giving it 5 stars for what it is. Simple and works all the time. No clutter. Straight forward. Not forcing me to pay for crap I don’t need. I need a gym log. Paper is going out of style. I carry my keys headphone and water bottle inside the gym. I don’t wanna be carrying something else like a notebook. Thank you for this app. It works.
