### 4/5 — Best alarm clock

*2021-03-29, version 5.1.1*

Waking up to a progressive alarm is a lot less jarring the standard alarm clocks. This app is great with how you can customize the alarm. I wish it was still supported.

Update: I have found occasionally the app will reset itself rather than alarm. Hope this bug can be fixed.

Update 3/14/19: app is still bugged. Occasionally instead of alarming, it will just reset. I woke this morning to my backup alarm and wondered why this one didn’t work. When I opened my iPad this app was open, alarm was active, but it was going to alarm in 24 hours. Please fix this bug. Thank you

Update 3/28/21: bug never fixed. sadly it is obvious this very great app has been abandoned.

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect Alarm

*2019-08-08, version 5.1.1*

With one exception, it is a perfect alarm. I have found that there is some unexpected interaction between the VOLUME setting of this alarm and other apps where the volume may be lowered. As an example, setting the volume at MAXIMUM (the recommended level) in Progressive Alarm would result in an uncomfortably LOUD volume when later watching a YouTube video. Lowering the volume for the video ALSO affects the alarm volume level; it may be too low when it goes off. If this interaction is kept in mind, then Progressive Alarm is reliable and great!

### 3/5 — Need to be able to set multiple alarms

*2018-04-01, version 5.1.1*

I start work different times on different days. I need to be able to set a different alarms for each day of the week. This is useless to my otherwise.

### 3/5 — What happened to the white noise feature?

*2018-01-30, version 5.1.1*

I have this app on my phone and it has a white noise feature. Missing on iPad version. Very disappointing. 😐

### 5/5 — The Alarm I Prefer to All the Others

*2017-09-28*

I admit it. I'm not a morning person, and I'm a heavy sleeper. (Bad combo!) I quickly adapt to most alarm sounds and sleep right through. I've tried them all.

I use this alarm when I absolutely have to get up on time. The progressive feature is nice, and the sound of the bowls is very helpful. They don't sound like all the other buzzing, beeping, chirping, and breaking glass alarms my asleep brain has learned to ignore. I can choose a pitch that will cut through the fog.

I do wish it would still go off if I switch over to another app, though.

### 5/5 — LOVE

*2017-07-28, version 5.1.1*

I love not having to be jolted awake. The chimes are very soothing and set you up for a great way to start your day!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2017-07-25, version 5.1.1*

Works as well as the expensive clocks.

### 5/5 — Not quite 'real,' but nice

*2017-05-20, version 5.1.1*

The alarm sounds very nice, but lacks the fuller tone of my old Now and Zen clock. I enjoyed that sound for the four month period twenty years ago that that clock worked.
That's my only negative comment. I like this app and its flexibility. And the sound's not *bad.*

### 5/5 — Progressive Alarm

*2017-05-14, version 5.1.1*

This application clock is the most natural waking up experience I've had.

### 5/5 — Gently Awaken

*2017-05-06, version 5.1.1*

Definitely an improvement on a clanging alarm. Wakes me gently but firmly. Can still press snooze and settings are extremely flexible to suit anyone's personal needs, ie how long between bells, how loud etc.

### 5/5 — My go to "Alarm"

*2017-04-26*

It's not alarming at all!!! It IS a great way to be gently woken up, especially on those days when you have to get out of bed a bit too early. I think the very quiet start allows the unconscious to get the body ready to wake up before I consciously hear it. On days when I really need a few extra minutes to get it, I just start to hear it 2-4 minutes later than normal. I mostly use pattern 4, and it takes about four minutes to wake me. When I do hear it, I generally think "Did I just hear something?" Then it rings once more and I realize I am awake.
It has a snooze, I rarely use. It has features and functions I know little about. Check other reviews for the other uses.
I am a happy waker.

### 5/5 — Mindful Morning

*2017-03-07*

The sounds in this app are beautiful! I was looking for an alarm that would ring once, like a monastery bell, and then stop. This does the trick! You can manipulate the settings until the ringing of the bells are spaced far apart. At the first gentle gong, I am awake. I have it set to ring at one-minute intervals, and it punctuates my morning routine as a reminder to be mindful. A lovely way to start the day!

### 5/5 — Non-alarming, gentle alarm

*2017-02-28*

I once paid a lot for a triangular shape Zen Clock that struck a progressive chime bell. It was nice and I used it for a lot of years. This was long before iPads, iPhones or apps. I much prefer the app with the soothing, gentle wake up alarms that you can choose from and adjust. It's my at home and travel alarm of preference.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No support, doesn’t work

*2019-08-01*

I would like to give this a 5 star rating but it doesn’t work unless the screen stays on. So, since it’s impossible to leave a device on all night, I can’t use it. I’ve downloaded this before, it had this problem and I deleted it. I thought it would be fixed by now, but it’s not. App support takes me to a website with summaries of the products offered only. I put this here hoping for a response. Really, it’s too bad. I do want this app.

### 1/5 — Love it!

*2018-10-20*

I wrote the below review after I first got the alarm,,,BUT,,, recently the alarm has been “forgetting” to go off every once in a while. I love the gradual awakening, but I now set 2 alarms to be sure I get up. I set the second one ten minutes later as backup. Insight usually works. Today it woke me up an hour early, 4:30 instead of the 5:30 that was displayed!

The trouble with most alarm clocks is that they won't give you a second to just wake up naturally without pushing a button. The ability to choose how long between gongs is a lifesaver for me. I set the gongs to be over a minute apart so I can slowly wake up and hit the "Stop" button at my own pace before a second gong strikes. I don't need an alarm clock to frustrate me awake! A gentle reminder is all I want. Progressive Alarm lets me choose how to wake up. Perfect!

### 1/5 — Never works

*2015-05-08, version 4.5.1*

This alarm app has never worked, I've tried it many times but always fails. The volume bar has stopped working altogether!

### 2/5 — Nice, but...

*2019-09-13, version 5.1.1*

Unreliable. Any Apple pop up kills it. I would like to love it, but I don’t need a 75% alarm clock- I need a 100% alarm clock. Sorry, but I’m moving back to the obnoxious clingy buzzy crap that works every time.

### 2/5 — Latest update much less good

*2018-02-20, version 5.1.1*

I’ve been using this app happily for some years. But now if I set the alarm and then start up a radio or audiobook app, leaving it in the background, it doesn’t go off in the morning.

Of course I can start up the other app, then get the clock in the foreground, but I have to do it again if I turn the other app off, change stations, or whatever. So it’s an annoying backward step.

### 2/5 — Overpriced and has limitations

*2018-01-16, version 5.1.1*

I wish I had read Hawkfyre's review of this app before purchasing. You can't multitask with this app. If you do, it will not wake you.

### 2/5 — Great alarm but ...

*2017-05-25*

I've been using this alarm for years, and like most of the reviewers say, it is great and a subtle way to wake up. However on multiple occasions the alarm didn't go off and I just assumed I'd made an error because instead of saying 7am, it had been set to 7pm.

What I eventually discovered is that if I set the alarm to 6am and get a phone call, when my iPad rings as a secondary notification that there is an incoming call, the alarm switches the time to PM! So this morning I needed to get up at 4:30am. Someone called around midnight. My alarm reset to 4:30pm and I didn't wake up until 7:20am!

Other than turning off the feature where my iPad rings when I get a call on my iPhone, I don't know what to do. But this glitch is going to force me to use a different alarm app unfortunately! :(

### 2/5 — Unreliable

*2016-11-04, version 5.1.1*

Used to work great on my ipad2. Now just upgraded to iPad Pro & it only has worked 1 out of the 4 times I've used it. Can't trust it now. Have updated all my apps so that's not the issue. Lovely when it worked.

### 2/5 — Unreliable

*2015-12-28*

Sounds pretty. But alarm didn't go off this morning as I set it to. I woke up and played around with it and got it to sound a couple times but now I don't trust it. Also, the feature where it's supposed to slowly light up doesn't work at all. Nice touch to be able to use your own photo, if it worked and if the photo stayed oriented properly. And you have to fumble around and find the app icon and open it to shut off the alarm.

### 3/5 — I LOVE this alarm, but...

*2018-09-07*

It has become unreliable. On several occasions over the last few months it has failed to go off at the set time. A previous review mentioned a possible connection between the iPad announcing an incoming phone call on their iPhone and the alarm app switching from am to pm. I haven’t noticed this correlation, but there’s definitely something happening that causes the alarm to fail occasionally.
I *REALLY* hope the developer addresses this issue. As much as I love this app, to the point I’d be willing to pay for an upgrade, I can’t afford to trust an unreliable alarm app.

Spotlight Six...I hope you’re reading this!

### 5/5 — Gorgeous awakening

*2024-12-05, version 5.1.1*

As per all the other 5* reviews, this app is ACE!! Developer: the toolbars on Home Screen have weird hatching colours since ios17. Please fix that. Ta.

### 5/5 — Gorgeous awakening

### 5/5 — calm mornings

*2022-05-29, version 5.1.1*

I have been using this app for years and it is fabulous. It wakes me up in a calm way. I also have set up one sequence that just rings every three minutes and I use it for yoga poses. It is the best!

### 5/5 — Gentle and gradual

*2021-04-19, version 5.1.1*

I've been using this alarm for several months.
Now I wake up with the gentle sounds of the bells in combination with my iPad Chimes alarm.
I thought the volume went down when I turn down BBC or Netflix on my iPad.
But the other day I noticed the patterns and volume % is totally customised. So, I changed it and now Is my perfect pattern.
I'd love to listen different bells sounds instead a single one.
If it's possible to do it, still I didn't figure it how.
But making sound at the same time with the iPad chimes is a good combination.
I like the snooze button is big and easily accessible,I like the Sure wake although I never had to use it.I love the multiple alarms so is not needed to change every time we have a different time table.
I highly recommend it.
It's a shame we cannot find more alarms like this one.

### 5/5 — Beautiful alarm!

*2020-11-17*

This is a terrific design for waking up gently, peacefully and effectively. It’s what I was looking for. Nothing else works as well IF you don’t like being jarred awake. Life’s tough enough. Even the cathedral bells I had used weren’t as calming. Thank you! Would be nice if the journal entries would date-stamp themselves.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2020-01-14, version 5.1.1*

Workd

### 5/5 — My go-to alarm

*2019-11-04, version 5.1.1*

I prefer to wake up to a gradual, pleasant sound rather than a blaring radio or other noise. Recommended.

### 5/5 — A new way to wake up and come alive

*2019-09-21, version 5.1.1*

Love this app! Is that was mentioned by a writer in the magazine poets and writers as helpful to slowly wake up and retain inspiration from the night before. I love the settings and features and it works just great. It's so nice to wake up to bells and chimes as opposed to a harsh buzzer or the news.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-11-25, version 5.1.1*

This is a great app. It has helped in changing the way I wake up in the morning. Mileage will vary, but for me, the first bell generally wakes me up. No jarring, annoying Radar/Waterfall/Inane BS. A very quiet reminder it is time to get up.

### 5/5 — A unique and pleasant wake up experience

*2018-06-06, version 5.1.1*

It reminds me a little of time I spent in a monastery and being woken by the bell calling me to prayer - only this is a more gentle and beautiful sound. It’s great that you can create different programmes to wake you more gradually according to how much time you have.
I see that it has not been updated for 3 years. What a shame! One little bug is that the alarm time presets seem to keep changing randomly (I don't think I’m doing anything wrong). An additional feature that would be nice is the ability to activate the snooze by moving the phone/iPad.
