## What is Project_nGene.org?

Project nGene.org® is a research-oriented educational software workbench developed by Hyunsuk Frank Roh, MD. It brings together hemodynamic modeling, waveform analysis, anatomy visualization, respiratory-mechanics education, ECG simulation, signal-processing demonstrations, and structured medical computation.

HEMODYNAMIC MODELING AND READER'S NOTES

• Logistic-Based Systolic Model for pulmonary artery pressure estimation and systolic waveform simulation
• Mechanics of Blood Circulation - Reader's Notes: an equation-centered guide covering Chapters 1–8, with independently developed diagrams, explicit assumptions, chapter-specific simulations, and an integrated systemic-pulmonary circulation laboratory
• The Fluid Mechanics of Aortic Stenosis — Reader's Notes: a study aid for Colin Clark's paired 1976 papers, with source separation, uncertainty statements, and a reader-developed native simulation

Reader's notes and simulations are presented separately from the original publications. They are educational interpretations and are not validated patient-specific cardiovascular models.

ECHO REFERENCE

• Search by disease, equation, measurement, threshold, or source
• Organized pathways for equations, chambers, rhythm/conduction/pacing, diastolic function, heart failure and advanced therapies, native and prosthetic valves, valvular hemodynamics, right heart and pulmonary hypertension, cardiomyopathy and pericardium, stress echocardiography, shunts, and aortic disease
• Focused tables that keep criteria, interpretation, cautions, and source anchors together
• Source sheets, citations, lookup guidance, and available publication links

Echo Reference is a quick-reference and source-navigation aid. It does not replace the original guidelines or papers, independent accuracy verification, or formal echocardiographic interpretation.

OTHER INCLUDED RESOURCES

• Medical equation tools
• eGFR and CKD/ESRD reference tables
• Ventilation-specific equation tools
• Independent Component Analysis waveform demonstration
• Chest vascularity visualization
• MDRO research dataset viewer
• Optional Virtual Ventilator Test-Lung educational add-on
• Optional Virtual EKG Simulator educational add-on
• Optional Echocardiography Recognition educational preview
• Optional IV Nutrition Therapy formulation helper

The ICA heart-sound examples are based on the UMich Heart Sound & Murmur Library. Lung-sound examples are based on HLS-CMDS: Heart and Lung Sounds Dataset Recorded from a Clinical Manikin using Digital Stethoscope, Version 3, DOI: 10.17632/8972jxbpmp.3. Attribution and license information are provided in the app.

This software is intended for research-oriented education, model inspection, anatomy learning, waveform visualization, signal-processing education, respiratory-mechanics education, ECG simulation education, and structured medical-reasoning education.

It is not presented as a diagnostic, monitoring, or treatment device. It does not provide patient-specific clinical decisions and must not replace clinician judgment, ventilator management, respiratory therapy protocols, ECG interpretation, cardiac-rhythm diagnosis, auscultation diagnosis, formal echocardiographic interpretation, prescription decisions, reimbursement decisions, or clinical claim submission.

On iOS, the display name appears as “Project_nGene.org” and represents Project nGene.org®.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-07-19

Version 1.8 expands the hemodynamic modeling and Echo Reference workspaces.

HEMODYNAMIC MODELING

• Expands Mechanics of Blood Circulation - Reader's Notes to Chapters 1–8 with equation-centered explanations, explicit model assumptions, independent diagrams, and chapter-specific simulations
• Adds an integrated systemic-pulmonary circulation laboratory with interactive controls and pressure, flow, volume, energy, reserve, and conservation displays
• Adds The Fluid Mechanics of Aortic Stenosis — Reader's Notes, integrating Colin Clark's paired 1976 studies with source links, uncertainty statements, and a reader-developed native simulation
• Improves chapter navigation and return-to-section controls for long-form educational content

ECHO REFERENCE

• Reorganizes major pathways into clearer clinical and hemodynamic groups
• Refines Diastolic Function into five focused categories covering orientation and physiology, acquisition and reference standards, diagnostic classification, filling-pressure assessment and grading, and integrated interpretation and reporting
• Places rhythm, pacing, valve, heart-failure, pulmonary-hypertension, cardiomyopathy, and pericardial material in more specific pathways
• Distributes supplemental pressure indices and maneuvers into the acquisition, LAP/LVEDP, disease-specific, and reporting contexts where they are most relevant
• Improves related-route navigation, source organization, and content consistency

GENERAL

• Includes interface, navigation, and reliability refinements

### 1.7 — 2026-07-13

Version 1.7 adds two separate major educational systems:

• Hemodynamic Simulations: reader-developed one-circulation, two-circulation, and one-beat models with circuit visualizations, scenario controls, calculated pressure and flow results, and explicit model limitations.

• Echo Reference: searchable adult echocardiography equations, thresholds, clinical pathways, compact tables, interpretive cautions, source anchors, citations, and available paper links.

The hemodynamic laboratory is kept separate from the book-based reader’s notes, and Echo Reference is presented as an independent quick-reference and source-navigation tool.

Neither feature provides diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or patient-specific clinical decisions.

### 1.6 — 2026-06-13

Version 1.6 expands the Medical Equations workspace.

New and refined items:
• eGFR is now a separate top-level calculator
• CKD-EPI 2021, CKD-EPI 2009, and MDRD eGFR are shown together
• CKD/ESRD GFR staging table highlights the current result
• Korean HIRA reference reminders were added for CKD anemia and erythropoietin-related review criteria
• Quick Ventilator Settings and RSBI are now organized as ventilation-specific equation tools
• Compliance and Ti/T-pause are now separated inside Miscellaneous Equations
• Medical Equation Library now includes an auto-scroll option after calculator selection

This version also refines concise disclaimer text for equation tools. The calculations are provided for education, model inspection, and quick reference reminders only. They do not direct diagnosis, treatment, ventilator management, prescription, reimbursement, claim submission, or patient-care decisions.

### 1.5 — 2026-05-21

Version 1.5 updates Project nGene.org® with ICA source-library expansion and add-on workflow refinements.

New and improved:
• Expanded ICA source library with UMich heart sound examples
• Added HLS-CMDS lung sound examples
• Added visible source attribution and license information inside ICA
• Updated ICA source selection to use one heart source and one lung source
• Improved optional source-pool loading behavior
• Improved Test-Lung and EKG unsupported-device guidance
• Improved Settings navigation behavior from iPad-focused add-ons
• Refined Add-Ons Settings layout

The added heart sound pool is attributed to the UMich Heart Sound & Murmur Library under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 terms, except where otherwise noted. The added HLS-CMDS lung sound dataset is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

### 1.4 — 2026-05-19

Version 1.4 adds the Virtual EKG Simulator educational add-on.

New features:
• Added optional Virtual EKG Simulator
• Added rhythm selection for simplified ECG waveform exploration
