I believe the developers could fix it easily, but for some reason, they haven’t. Despite receiving so much negative feedback, they haven’t updated the app in over a year. Both connected to same WIFI, same log in on both apps, and the remote refuses to even find the device at all. Tried reinstalling, making sure remote control is turned on, and a bunch of other troubleshooting methods. I wanted to connect my iPad to my iPhone to act as a remote but this does not connect at all to the phone. The voice track mechanism does not work in the pro subscription version ($9.99 a month) so wanted to control it via the remote. It worked once. The second time I received the pop up to subscribe. However according to my account I am subscribed . I contacted tech support. They said uninstall then reinstall both apps. After the reinstall the remote app feature was still asking me to subscribe. I sent an email to tech 6 days ago. Their silence is deafening. The one time it worked it was great. I wish someone at tech support could figure out the problem and fix it. I was frazzled that Spanish didn’t work with the auto scroll so I had to download a remote in order to get through the prompt faster. This remote is completely broken, the latency is HORRIBLE. Like it’s embarrassingly bad. I used this on my old 8 year old iPad and thought maybe it was the iPad and then used another iPad that was like a year old and it was just as bad with latency. These people do not take their app seriously, it is a joke and a money pit. Avoid smart prompt and their whole ecosystem all together! ### 1/5 — This App doesn’t work correctly. It might ruin your shoot. *2025-11-10* Your position on the script on this iPhone app has no correlation with the readers position on the iPad. Scrolling on the iPhone works - but you won’t know what the reader can see. This is an absolute nightmare if you are mid-way through a take. Please fix! ### 1/5 — Old UX advantages have been lost *2023-10-30* The latest updates have killed the UX advantages of the old app. Used to be able to smoothly scroll with your finger as someone talked and the main app would keep up. Now it only seems to send the command to the main app to move when you take your finger off the screen, so instead of the script scrolling smoothly it jerks one line at a time. If, and I mean IF it connects at all it’s so buggy and laggy that it’s useless when it does actually connect. I literally had it trying to connect to the associated iPad, which was literally 2 feet away, for 35 minutes. I know it was 35 minutes because I recorded an entire script, manually having to move the teleprompter screen on the iPad because this app never connect. At all. It saw the script. Sometimes I use the Pro Remote on my iPod to connect to my iPhone teleprompter. I have used iPod, iPad, and iPhone interchangeably PromptSmart and the remote for years. It’s worth 99% of the time. ### 5/5 — Remote control really works. *2022-10-17* I love PromptSmart pro. User for years. Somehow I forgot about the remote control feature on my iPad/ iPhone setup. My assistant moved away and I got in a big job. Many words. Lots of reasons to restart the scripts. Then my brain had that light bulb moment. For 20 bucks a year I could remain seated and reset my script. I am sure it shaved a whole day off production. Then my charge went through after the trial period. And it stopped working. I was perplexed. I looked for the address for help. Hard to find. But I did. And in a few days I got an email with my solution. Took a few minutes and a couple tries. We are back! My faith in my fellow man went up today. Since then it’s been a dream. ### 5/5 — Fantastic! *2020-08-02* In looking at older reviews, I was worried about purchasing this remote app, but as I was working a case with the responsive PromptSmart support team, they shared that anyone could try the remote app free for 30 days. Generally, the VoiceTrack capability works quite well once all formatting has been cleared from imported scripts, but occasionally larger words can create hiccups. The remote app, with the July 2020 updates, has performed flawlessly for me, saving lots of wasted movement and time. My other learning is that having a corded lav mic plugged into my iPad contributes to more consistent VoiceTrack performance. Better messaging on the app screen would help ### 4/5 — Works well in mirrored mode *2021-02-26, version 2.3* The remote is a necessary addition to PromptSmart Pro as voice track, while good, is not perfect so you need some way of easily scrolling forward or restarting without fiddling with it he iPad on the prompting device. I brought the outright version rather than fiddling with a monthly subscription - glad they offer this. Remote is useless in button mode - buttons are tiny, often not responsive and as another reviewer has noted, the stop button is in the middle which is terrible design. However it works really well in mirrored mode and allows the presenter to scroll the text easily even when not looking down at your phone. Would also work well if you want to operate the scroll manually as a camera operator. This feature combined with ease of connection makes the app totally worth it for me. It is also very handy to have a way of restarting the scroll without having to step over to the teleprompter rig where these buttons on the iPad are a bit difficult to access due to the teleprompter mirror. Two suggestions for future improvements: 1. It’s frustrating to have to go back into settings and re-click the allow remote connection every time you exit presenter mode. 2. It would be amazing if the mike on the remote (in my case my iPhone) could be used to feed voice-track on the prompter main screen (in my case an iPad) as the remote mic is likely to be closer to the presenter source. Overall I do recommend this app and the main PromptSmart pro app in its 2021 version albeit with a few caveats. It’s expensive for an app but very reasonable for a teleprompter- saves hundreds on employing a separate operator every time we use it! ### 4/5 — Useful but very tiny button *2021-01-22* Could you please make the Down button large for manual scrolling? I’m not looking down and blindly pressing the tiny Down. Arrow button and it’s very frustrating because even with my large finger I still keep tapping and missing/not hitting the puny button. I never use the giant green play button. I use rewind button- also very tiny but at least we’re not blind when hitting it.
