### 5/5 — Simple but needs more intuitive user-interface

*2026-06-25, version 0.0.16*

The simple protein tracker does a good enough job of quickly and simply tracking protein intake. Not as customizable as most apps but is a direct approach if all you want to do is enter custom items and track intake.

### 5/5 — Does exactly what it says.

*2026-06-24*

Simple and straightforward, without any bells and whistles, which is exactly what I wanted. There are plenty of other protein trackers, but it seems like most of them also include calorie counting, which would be a setback in my recovery from disordered eating.

**Developer response:** Thank you for this. Good to know it fits what you need. Best, Kai

### 5/5 — JUST what I needed

*2026-06-20, version 0.0.16*

Super easy. I know how many grams so I just add and track. Period. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Works amazing!

*2026-06-20*

I downloaded this because I didn’t want to track or be too aware of calories, but still wanted to hit my protein. App is really simple & easy to use, definitely recommend!

**Developer response:** That's exactly the idea, Ollie. Track protein without getting pulled into calorie counting. Happy it's working for you! Best, Kai

### 5/5 — Simple

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Didnt work

*2025-11-16, version 0.0.16*

Wasted my money

### 2/5 — Can’t update goal

*2026-04-29, version 0.0.16*

I pressed update goal and nothing happens

### 3/5 — Average

*2026-03-09, version 0.0.16*

It’s a very simple app, but I also wish it had a way to scan barcodes to obtain protein content instead of manually typing it all in. Good way to keep track though.

### 3/5 — We’ve only just begun

*2025-12-31*

So I’ve only just begun using this app and I do like it, but I find that I have to edit a lot of what AI is calculating. For instance, they tell me that an entire package of gluten-free sausage, which includes nine links, is only 9 grams of protein. Actually, for every three links it is 10 g of protein so I adjusted the grams per piece to 3.3 and find that that will be as accurate as possible. Other than that, I’m hopeful to reach my goal. It certainly has adjusted my thinking overall that I was not getting enough protein in my daily diet. I’m sure this app will improve as I learned to use it, and it learns to calculate more accurately.

**Developer response:** To get good estimates with AI you need to take good photos and often give additional information by text. For your sausage example, if you know the exact amount it’s better to not use AI, but the manual protein tracking. AI can give better estimates, if you mention ingredients and how much of that you consume. Maybe the AI didn’t know how many you’d eat and assumed some different amount. Also the AI feature won’t work for food with no clear visual ingredients unless you describe it with text. For example, if you have a soup or protein shake it’s just some liquid. So it’s best to use the AI as quick research tool to get an estimate and then you can double check.

### 3/5 — Great

*2025-03-17, version 0.0.15*

Works great

### 4/5 — Helps me be intentional

*2026-07-07, version 0.0.16*

Wish it would tell me protein in items vs me having to google

### 4/5 — Simple but needs more intuitive user-interface

*2026-06-22, version 0.0.16*

The simple protein tracker does a good enough job of quickly and simply tracking protein intake. My only complaint is the overall layout, formatting, and layout of items feels AI-generated and not intuitive compared to some of the bigger names of the nutrition tracking app world.

### 4/5 — Honest review

*2026-06-15, version 0.0.16*

No ads, minimal design, and (as of this review) minimal paid features. Easy to add entries and very clean UI.

### 4/5 — Basic but functional

*2026-06-11*

Does what I need, input and track my daily protein that I take from another app.
Had feedback from the developer. As I could not see a way I could improve the app, I’ve given it a five star review. I’m still using it several weeks on, so I must be enjoying it.
Latest update. When the app goes into 3 figures, you can’t see what the protein level is, just say 10… Something for the developer to work on, but otherwise I’m using it regularly

**Developer response:** Thanks, happy it does what you need. If you find it useful, a 5-star rating would mean a lot. As a solo dev without a marketing budget, App Store search is how people discover Protein Tracker. Every star helps. Best, Kai
