## What is Protocol?

Protocol is an adaptive fitness system for nutrition, training, fasting, body composition, and accountability.

Protocol exists to remove excuses by replacing motivation with structure. It treats the body as a system that adapts to conditions, not emotions. The app is not a motivator, diary, or game. It is a compliance engine that records reality, reinforces constraints, and helps you operate the system long enough for results to compound.

Scan meals. Generate workouts. Track lifts, macros, fasting, sleep, steps, weight, and weekly progress in one system that learns how you eat, move, train, and recover.

Built for consistency over motivation, Protocol gives you structure without guilt mechanics, streak pressure, or noisy dashboards. Just clear targets, adaptive feedback, and tools that keep your plan moving.

MEAL LOGGING

Log food with a photo, text, barcode, or saved meal. Protocol estimates calories and macros in seconds, then lets you edit every entry by ingredient or macro. Save meal preps, relog common meals, and use verified local food data for faster, cleaner tracking.

TRAINING

Build custom training plans across strength, hypertrophy, conditioning, endurance, and performance. Choose 2–7 day splits, target specific muscle groups, log sets and rest times, swap exercises, save templates, and track progressive overload, volume, density, and personal records over time.

BODY + HEALTH DATA

With Apple Health permission, Protocol uses steps, workouts, weight, sleep, and activity data to help estimate your real energy needs. Track weight trends, body composition scans, compliance patterns, and weekly changes without turning your health into a scorecard.

AI COACH

Protocol’s AI coach uses your logged nutrition, training, compliance, and progress context to give more relevant answers. Ask questions, generate workouts, review patterns, and adjust your plan with guidance based on your actual data, not generic advice.

HUMAN COACHING

Sentinel connects you with a real coach inside Protocol. Your coach can review your training, nutrition, and body composition context, adjust programming, update macros, and communicate through built-in chat. No scattered spreadsheets. No third-party messaging. One system.

BUILT TO KEEP YOU ON TRACK

Daily reviews take seconds. Weekly audits surface patterns you might miss. Intelligent reminders help redirect your attention when meals, training, fasting, or check-ins fall behind.

Protocol is not just a tracker. It is a structured operating system for staying consistent.

### 5/5 — Best AI Coach in the App Market

*2026-05-17*

The meal scanner got me to try it, but the coaching is what makes me keep using it. It helps me see if I’m actually staying on track instead of just logging random numbers.

### 5/5 — Great app alternative

*2026-05-15*

Coming from the app Hevy and Strong, Protocol feels more of a full system. Logging lifts, track my personal records etc.

### 5/5 — Been using this app for months

*2026-04-17*

I’ve been following this app protocol since they started development. Since the developer is solo id understand there will be some setbacks for updates and improvements compared to bigger teams. But every update the app always improves and strives towards a better direction. I never really wrote reviews before but this app really deserves it. It’s free but it’s really worth paying for! Meal scanning is so polished , body scans with adaptive protein intake is such a game changing feature for an app like this. Protocol will be the future of fitness apps. If you haven’t downloaded it yet , I suggest you try the 7 days free trial that’s going on right now!

### 5/5 — All in one!

*2026-01-18*

I like that the app focuses on compliance instead of temporary motivation. I love that that I can ditch 3 apps and just use 1. What else has tracking steps, meal logging/tracking calories, and solid workout plans instantly? I highly recommend Protocol.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m thrilled that Protocol's all-in-one approach is working for you. You nailed exactly what I set out to build. Compliance over motivation, because consistency is what actually gets results.

### 5/5 — Ive never seen anything like it

*2026-01-15*

Has every feature you would want and think off you need to try it out for yourself highly recommended!! 😌😌

### 5/5 — Lose weight 🔥

*2025-12-16*

Everything you need is in this app. I've been using Protocol to lose weight and I can keep track of the calories I'm consuming. The coach provides daily workouts, not to mention the body scanner to help assess progress. I love it

**Developer response:** Thanks for the thoughtful review. We’re glad Protocol is helping you stay consistent and track progress clearly. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 17 — 2026-08-09

A rebuilt interface that starts simple and grows with you.

EARNED COMPLEXITY
TODAY opens with only what you need to act on now. Coach intel, adaptive TDEE
and the full chronicle stay out of the way until you've built the history that
makes them useful, then unlock as you go.

CLEANER TABS
FUEL puts calorie cycling one tap from the cycle pill. TRAIN drops a redundant
sub-tab and keeps your session front and centre. YOU collects settings,
benchmarks and your chronicle in one place instead of three.

BUILT FOR ONE HAND
Save and Cancel now sit at the bottom of the meal editor, in thumb reach, and
stay visible while you review a scan. Number fields open the number pad with a
Done button. Long-press actions and menus replaced buried screens.

READABLE AT ANY SIZE
Text across the main screens scales with your iOS text-size setting. Every
style was raised to a legible minimum and recoloured to meet WCAG AA contrast,
so the dense screens stay readable in real light. Sheets now grow with the text
inside them, so a larger font no longer breaks their layout.

RESPECTS YOUR SETTINGS
Reduce Motion switches off ambient animation throughout the app. Times follow
your device's 12- or 24-hour preference, and dates follow your region.

HONEST PRICING
Anyone outside the US could see dollar figures that weren't what Apple would
charge. Every price, saving and per-day figure now comes from the App Store for
your region.

SEE WHAT OPERATOR ADDS
Satiety, micronutrient tracking and coach intel used to be simply absent on the
free plan rather than locked. You can now see what they are and what they'd
show you.

THE DAILY BRIEF HAS BEEN RETIRED
The morning reel is gone. Everything it showed lives on TODAY and FUEL, and
your compliance history is untouched.

FIXES
- Protocol Reset now restarts your day count and calibration, instead of
leaving both running from your original start date
- Fixed a visual jitter on TODAY after a fresh install
- Day rollover is correct across midnight, time-zone changes and DST
- Failed body scans tell you what happened instead of failing silently
- Corrected the app icon badge count
- Removed a stray empty bar and a duplicate close button in the meal editor

### 16.9 — 2026-07-23

**YOUR DAY NOW HAS A BEGINNING AND AN END.**

**DAILY BRIEF** — Open Protocol to a swipe-through morning briefing: today's directives, calories left, sessions to hit, your compliance run, and coach intel — one card per swipe, done in 15 seconds. Replay anytime with REVIEW_BRIEF.

**DAY CLOSE-OUT** — Every evening, stamp your day. See your compliance verdict — training, fuel, protein — then lock it into your record. Forgot? Protocol reminds you before the day rolls over.

**COMPLIANCE SHIELD** (Operator) — Life happens. Your shield absorbs one missed day per week so a single slip doesn't erase your run. Two misses in a week still break it — the shield forgives slips, not absences.

**SYSTEM FINDINGS** — Your brief now surfaces one fresh insight each day: a new PR, a protein trend, your best week yet. The system watches so you don't have to.

**WEEKLY DEBRIEF** — Every Monday: last week's compliance, calorie bank, sessions hit, and one target for the week ahead.

**TRAINING** — START WORKOUT is now the biggest thing on the screen, right where your thumb lands. Session complete? You'll know at a glance.

Plus: app opens straight to TODAY, sharper text throughout, and squashed a visual artifact above the tab bar.

- Bottom chrome and brief visibility unified to a single state source — no more desync
- Larger, higher-contrast type on touched surfaces (brief cards, workout CTA, progress rows)
- Day close-out stamps sync Sentinel coach telemetry immediately

### 16.8 — 2026-07-21

PROTOCOL 16.8 — THE ACCOUNTABILITY LAYER

This release turns Protocol from a tracker into a system that actually holds you to your run.

Daily Brief — Every morning opens with a briefing: today's targets, your active cycle day, and what the system needs from you. Start the day knowing the mission.

Day Close-Out — End each day with a stamp. Close it out, lock the record, and see your run extend.

Compliance Shield — One slip a week won't kill your streak. The shield absorbs a single miss and shows you exactly when it did — so a bad day doesn't erase weeks of work.

System Findings — Protocol now surfaces a fresh insight from your own data each day. Patterns you'd never catch on your own, pulled from your intake, training, and trends.

Weekly Debrief — Every Monday, a full readout: compliance, fuel, and training for the week behind you, plus a target for the week ahead.

Plus stability improvements and refinements throughout.

### 16.7 — 2026-07-07

SMARTER MAINTENANCE ESTIMATE
Your adaptive calorie estimate now learns properly from real intake and weigh-in data. Daily weigh-ins no longer reset what the system has learned, estimates hold steady instead of drifting with day-to-day noise, and calibration status now reflects genuine weeks of data. Apple Watch–derived estimates are now labeled WATCH so you always know what your number is based on.

MEAL SCAN, UPGRADED
Redesigned scan analysis: a live viewfinder shows each phase of the process — identify, portion, macros, log — with real progress instead of a spinner.

TRY THE TRAINING ENGINE — FREE
Free tier now generates one real AI workout every week in the Train tab. See exactly what the training engine builds for your goals before you unlock logging, swaps, and weekly progression.

STAY ON RECORD
If you go quiet for a couple of days, Protocol now sends a short, data-framed reminder — your streak and your estimate depend on days the system can see. No guilt. Just the record.

Plus stability improvements throughout.

### 16.6 — 2026-06-30

What's new:
• Rebuilt quick workout logger — log gym-floor sessions fast. Choose a muscle group and region (e.g. Chest: Upper/Mid/Lower) and we'll suggest exercises or generate new ones, with unlimited exercises per session.

• Faster workout generation — browse every workout type with search and categories.

• More accurate maintenance calories — your TDEE now updates with your current weight.

• Sleeker navigation bar and a range of UI improvements and bug fixes.
