### 2/5 — Needs More Updates and Features

*2026-09-05, version 2.25.1*

The app could be really good but it needs bugs worked out and more features.

### 3/5 — Nice Calendar

*2026-09-04, version 2.25.1*

I found the calendar easy to use. It had all the features I needed except one - colors. $50/year is a bit steep to get colors for calendar entries, when I don’t need more than the free level for any other service.

### 2/5 — Moving in the right direction

*2026-08-25, version 2.25.1*

2026 Aug update - tried again but to be honest, only having the calendar colour in a little strip on the left looks bland and is no real help.
Calendar is the weak link in the Proton system. Take a look at Awesome Cal as this is the level I’d need before I can switch.
The rest of the Proton ecosystem is superb.

2026 update - moving in the right direction. Still some way to go, as import from Apple calendar still a pain and full day and timed events look exactly the same.
Also less urgent but also needed is the ability to import local Outlook pst archives.
The Proton Bridge app seems ideal to span the intentional gap imposed by Apple to lock us all in.
I hope one day there will be a Proton Messenger so I can fully remove myself from the icy grip of Apple.
2025 July update - A big step forward with an iPad friendly version. Definitely moving in the right direction. An extra star for the improvement and another for the positive developer response. Thank you. Now need to import calendars into Proton, so I can remove them from Apple.
2025 June update - How can it be that over a year has passed and STILL there is no advances? Still can’t easily import Apple calendar or Outlook pst. Still no iPad app. Down to one star.
Real shame, as Proton is a great email.
Original review - Needs to at least compete with the basic Apple Calendar app; and that means a widget, an iPad version and offline use. When I looked at the ‘add calendar’ option, it didn’t show the calendars I already have set-up on my iPad. No way I am inputting nine years of calendar information by hand!
Compared to the other apps, Calendar seems to be an after thought.
I would like to get in to the Proton Ultimate system but this and the poor/lacking support for importing/exporting from/to Outlook pst archive in Proton Mail make it a non-starter. A sync add-on for Outlook would solve this but I doubt there will be the demand to make it worthwhile.

### 4/5 — Slowly replacing Le Google

*2026-08-20, version 2.25.1*

Issue with subscription calendar only on the iOS app showing multiple instances of a subscribed calendar.
The event shows up ~15 times when it is on the day it’s supposed to happen. It stays there even after the event has passed.
Future events only show once, until it gets to that specific date.

Desktop app is fine.

### 3/5 — Nice but missing

*2026-08-18, version 2.25.1*

I like it but biggest thing missing to me is a search function. If i plan something wat ahead or if I want to know last time I did anything, I have to click every event till I find it

### 2/5 — No offline mode, slow & clunky

*2026-08-16, version 2.25.1*

Whenever you are offline, this app will not allow you to add anything to your calendar. If you want to scroll through days quickly, you can’t do this, you have to scroll forward one day, wait for it to catch up, then scroll again, you go at its pace, not yours. If you want to change an event forward e.g. by one week, and that spans a change of month, you can’t see a mini calendar view, you have to already know which date one week forward is and use the scroll wheels to select a date. It’s all just so clunky…

### 3/5 — Not bad

*2026-08-10, version 2.25.1*

No easy way to alter some notifications. And it’s very slow to save. Some custom events can’t be altered.

### 4/5 — Good but needs some improvements

*2026-08-07, version 2.25.1*

Needs to come up to par with other calendaring systems - love how it’s integrated with proton email but man it needs some love

### 4/5 — Great app, small request.

*2026-08-04, version 2.25.1*

Love the app, no complaints at all so far.

Just a simple request really, the yearly repeat option for events should have the same ability as the weekly, and monthly to repeat on days, not just dates. It would be greatly appreciated, and make adding come holidays to the calendar easier.

### 4/5 — 日本語対応お願いします！

*2026-08-04*

UIシンプルで最高です！
今はなんとなく使えていますが、日本語対応していただけると日本人は使いやすいです！
よろしくお願いいたします。

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for the 4-star review and rating! We'll pass along your localization request to the team. If you have any other suggestions on what we can do to improve, feel free to let us know by editing your review.

### 3/5 — Moving from Cozi improvements needed

*2026-08-01, version 2.25.1*

We are going to migrate to Proton Calendar to replace Cozi so we have everything in one service. Please can you add option to import all the public holidays and key dates from different countries. Also can we please edit the colours so can assign to different family members or events like a colour for birthday.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2026-07-31, version 2.25.1*

Really like the app and all the other Proton apps. They are my go to.

One thing that bugs me about the calendar app is the date isn’t shown on the app icon. I really wish it would be.

### 3/5 — Functionality feature limit

*2026-07-31, version 2.25.1*

The app doesn’t allow a yearly event on say the 2nd sunday in a given month. It allows it monthly but not yearly. I contacted proton and was told by Nikola that the developers weren’t adding that feature. Ive since deleted the app from all my devices and reevaluating my paying account. In a followup email from Nikola, i was told he will recheck with the developers about it. This makes one wonder if they were ever consulted in the first place. Who knows. I gave it 3 stars because it isnt fully functional and have gone back to apple calendar which does provide this feature.
Response to developer, i deleted the emails with the ticket number along with the app. I stated who i communicated with.

### 3/5 — Missing important function

*2026-07-21, version 2.25.1*

There is no ability to search for an event (past or upcoming). This is very inconvenient and frustrating.

### 2/5 — Can’t delete canceled appointment invitations.

*2026-07-18, version 2.25.1*

VERY VERY ANNOYING!!

### 3/5 — Slow and clunky

*2026-07-17, version 2.25.1*

This is the only one of the print on apps that isn’t useful. I find the whole process of adding meetings are invites to be slow and clunky and I’ve noticed it the number of times and I don’t get any notifications for my calendar events. Notifications are turned onbut not this one.

### 4/5 — Feature Request

*2026-07-16, version 2.25.1*

Hi! I really like the app. I would love it if you could add Liquid Glass to it.

### 4/5 — Très bien mais

*2026-07-12*

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for your review and feedback! We'll pass along your suggestions to the team. If you have any additional feedback on what we can do to further improve, let us know by editing your review.

### 3/5 — Too basic

*2026-07-12, version 2.25.1*

Misses too many options available in other calendars like Outlook. Search box for example would be nice so one can search for specific scheduled meetings or appointments

### 4/5 — Lacking some visual optimization

*2026-07-08*

Great app, and I love proton, however I fell like there some design aspects we could take inspiration from apple, the numbers of the calendar could be bigger and with some coloring to differentiate between weekdays and weekends, and the widget should show all the events in the near future instead of the “+x” that makes you open the app to see if there’s something important coming.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for your review and feedback! We'll pass along your suggestions to the team. If you have any other feedback or suggestions on what we can do to improve, please let us know by editing your review.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for the review and feedback! We'll pass along your suggestions internally for future consideration. Edit: Thank you for following up on your review! Your suggestions have been documented internally. Our community's input is important to us.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Slow and unusable

*2026-08-29, version 2.25.1*

Proton offers amazing services and apps, but this one is a big disappointment. The app is so slow that it’s almost impossible to use it. On the App Store it’s advertised as having light and dark mode, but I cannot find where to switch. Finally, it does not work offline.

### 1/5 — An absolute buggy mess

*2026-08-29, version 2.25.1*

App crashes on startup after loading my calendars. I uninstalled and reinstalled. It doesn’t matter if I load from the widget or the app icon. Crashes within a few seconds of launching every time. Instead of spending their time trying to roast businesses on LinkedIn they should fix their broken mess of an app.

### 1/5 — So slow to open

*2026-08-26, version 2.25.1*

Have no clue but it just sits there for a wee while saying preparing.

### 1/5 — STILL Can’t delete canceled appointment invitations.

*2026-08-17, version 2.25.1*

VERY VERY ANNOYING!! The developers have made some vague mumblings about fixing this a few times. STILL NOT DONE. I cant use my ‘paid for’ proton addresses in any other calendar app. My calendar has ongoing canceled long term appointments. My calendar could be full of these. VERY POOR. FIX IT. Dont mumble about …. one day, one day …… maybe……..
NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Deal breaker. Dont use.

### 1/5 — Proton isn’t focused on apps

*2026-07-22, version 2.25.1*

I’ve been a subscriber for a couple years now. In that time, I don’t think any of their apps have had an update. I’m glad a company exists that’s focused on privacy but their apps are stuck in 2005. It’s increasingly frustrating that you can’t do basic things - like set Proton Calendar as your phone’s calendar application.
A word of warning to others, do not put all your eggs in one basket. You may find it’s nearly impossible to exit something if you ever change your mind.

### 1/5 — Very hard to use

*2026-07-17, version 2.25.1*

This app doesn't have a responsive UI and the UI is broken in windowed mode - windowing/maximising stops working and the UI becomes unusably tiny. It's almost been a year since iPadOS 26 has come out and it's still this way. I'm starting to look elsewhere for my calendar needs.

### 1/5 — No offline mode

*2026-06-26, version 2.25.1*

the fact that this doesn’t have an offline mode is unforgivable

### 1/5 — App keeps freezing and events don’t appear

*2026-06-24, version 2.25.1*

I’ve completely switched over to Proton from Google. However, the calendar app keeps freezing. At least once per time I go onto the app, and then I have to close it and re-open it. It also won’t always load my events. Instead, the calendar opens empty. And then when it DOES correctly display my events and I go to tap on one, the app freezes. This needs to be fixed.

### 1/5 — No Year View

*2026-06-20, version 2.25.1*

Put in view by whole-year & put the current-year next to the month in the month view, not just for previous & future years.

### 1/5 — Fundamentally Broken

*2026-05-31, version 2.25.0*

It is an embarrassment that Proton use a 32bit signed integer in this day an age, meaning you can't view, add or edit entries beyond 2038. Anyone with a mortgage, pension, or any longer term dates, you're fresh out of luck here. Find a better product. Subscription cancelled.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Now good enough to use

*2026-08-30, version 2.25.1*

Proton Calendar is now good enough to use. Coming from Apple
Calendar. Like the alternative views (agenda, single day, 3 day and week) with a mini/Split View option when, say, looking at week view with a mini month view above showing dots for events on days of the month. Not sure if developers are planning it, but looking forward to being able to copy and paste events.

### 5/5 — Secure Calendar

*2026-07-28, version 2.25.1*

UI is pretty good, a fine comprimise for zero knowledge personal and shared calendars. Looking forward to the 2026 app re-write. I tell all my friends to use ProtonCal.

### 5/5 — The best and doesnt track me as a product!

*2026-07-14, version 2.25.1*

Transitioned for google and im so happy. Proton ia gret.

### 5/5 — Great overall

*2026-06-26, version 2.25.1*

I’ve been using the app for several years now. Started using it in its original beta and have never looked back. It’s come a long way with functionality and still has a long ways to go but overall I love it and the peace of mind it brings knowing that big tech and other online trackers don’t have my entire life’s history documented on their servers to sale to who knows who. My biggest wish/want is for Proton to finally release the new calendar app that allows for offline mode and the to-do features built in…was originally announced so long ago and keeps getting kicked down the road so if that could be released any year now, that would be great. Other than that, I’d recommend this tech suite to anyone.

### 5/5 — Excellent Calendar!

*2026-06-22, version 2.25.1*

Proton calendar works great and is the best for privacy!

### 5/5 — Número uno fan

*2026-06-22, version 2.25.1*

Been with proton for nearly a decade. Big fan of what they stand for. I use this calendar instead of apples calendar. Easy to use, great reminders.

### 5/5 — Good, but room for improvement

*2026-06-18, version 2.25.1*

This app is pretty good, but when someone shares an event with you, you have almost no control. I just want to change it so that shared calendars are different colors. I also can't delete a shared event- not me doing the sharing. I want it separate from "my calendar". I think you can do a lot of this from desktop, but not from the app.

### 5/5 — Persian calendar

*2026-05-30, version 2.25.0*

Add Persian calendar please.

### 5/5 — J’apporte une petite suggestion

*2026-05-22*

### 5/5 — Effective Minimalist Calendar

*2026-05-06, version 2.25.0*

Clean, easy to use, shares across devices calendar app. No frills, it just works like it’s supposed to.

Future enhancement? Allow configuration option to set start of week to Monday, so weekends (Saturday-Sunday) display together. For some of us, that’s how our lives/schedules work.
==========
Back for a followup, and a time away looking at other calendar systems, this continues to be one worthy of a go.

It can be configured for Monday start. The interface is simple and clean.

Works across devices and as a web based utility.

As I said before - no frills, it just works like it’s supposed to. I’ll be here for a while now.

Thank you Proton.
