## What is ProtoQuiz?

Study and learn your local EMS protocols. Upload your agency’s protocol PDF and ProtoQuiz turns it into drug quizzes, algorithm tests, and adaptive scenarios — every answer page-cited to the source.

This app is designed to help EMTs and Paramedics learn their local protocols.

No, this isn't some generic NREMT test prep. This is designed to help you actually learn YOUR protocols - specific to your agency, region, or medical control.

There are so many study resources out there to pass the NREMT, but once you're in the field you have to learn an
entirely different protocol set and memorize your medications and procedures. What makes this challenging is the huge
variety across regions - learning the specifics can be hard.

  This app is perfect for:
  • Paramedic students who need to study protocols
 • New EMTs and Medics
  • Providers moving to a new agency, county, or state
  • Seasoned providers who want to hone their mastery of their local system

  FEATURES:
  • AI-powered quiz generation from your protocols
  • Study medications, procedures, and policies offline
  • Links to the page from your protocol where info comes from, open the protocol at any time
  • Real-world scenario practice
  • Track your progress and identify weak areas
  • Works completely locally - your data stays on your device

Whether you're studying for your first day or your thousandth call, EMS ProtoQuiz helps you master the protocols that matter most - yours.

### 5/5 — Great help with protocols

*2026-07-26*

This program uses the actual system protocols to formulate the questions. When loading the protocols you can remove medications or procedures that don’t align with your region

**Developer response:** Thanks for the good review man I really appreciate it. And yep you are spot on all the different parts are designed to make it useful so removing meds that are out of scope or that your agency doesn’t carry etc is one way to make it more user specific.

### 5/5 — Must-have app for working EMTs and medics

*2026-07-17*

Literally the ONLY app that quizzes us on our actual protocols.

We all know that the tests we passed to get our licenses did not prepare us for our local protocols. National licensing tests- which are difficult, high-stress tests- which even some of our smartest, most talented friends failed a couple of times before they passed- are designed to see if we understand this work and can do it well. Until we passed those licensing those tests, local protocols were lower priority.

Now that we’re licensed though- protocols are EVERYTHING: they are the law. Every detail must be memorized: each dosage, every intervention, where to find each drug in the drug box, etc… in order for us to have that knowledge instantly available to us when our patient is having an unpredictable emergency. So we prioritize: leave pediatric dosing aside for now, and use reference cards as needed on- scene, to ensure we get that perfectly correct. Memorize the procedures and doses we use the most often. Try to review our protocols often, until we have the “high acuity, low frequency” procedures and medications memorized.

It’s not easy to stay focused and read the protocols over and over for memorization in between calls. Actually I personally get sleepy if I spend more than 10-20 minutes just reading protocols.

Flashcard -style short questions about doses and procedure, at random, repeated a LOT- are a fun, easy, effective way to help memorize the details and keep that information fresh, long-term. I use this app to help me memorize doses and details. If I’m reviewing and my partner is willing, we may read a few of these out loud to test each other. In my case, I find myself reviewing my protocols more often, when I don’t understand an answer or if I answer it wrong. I also ask my more experienced partners about situations that have happened- so we have talked through the details before they happen. This app gives me a reason to think about the details before I am learning hands-on in the field.

A big challenge for me was uploading the specific protocols for this area. I needed to upload a single PDF, and my region has put each individual protocol online as its own pdf. I decided to put them all into a single pdf on my computer sometime. It’s a big project. I talked to some coworkers about the app and the pdf project. The guy who is in charge of training on my team created that pdf for me! I uploaded it and now I review several times per week. I also shared the full protocol pdf document with coworkers directly and shared the app on a couple of group chats. It’s good for me and our team if we review and discuss the laws and protocols. If you have trouble uploading your local protocols, ask around to see if someone else has it- and message this app’s developers too. If anyone else is already using your protocols on the app, they will know.

Good luck everyone, I hope your patient care is excellent and your shift is smooth. Stay safe out there 😊

**Developer response:** I appreciate you so so so much thank you for the kind feedback. My goal is to help us all be better at our jobs. I feel like in EMS we are so used to helping others and rarely do we help ourselves. Reviews like this are motivating and inspiring. This is a one man operation I am doing my best. Thanks for the kind words

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2026-05-12*

Honestly, I can’t believe it’s taken so long for something like this to hit the market. Instant classic, instant #1 app on my phone during shift. In a year this will be part of every single agency’s onboarding, mark my words. Compete mode with my buddies has made even the curmudgeoniest paramedics I know get back to studying and get all fired up. 10/10 recommend.

### 5/5 — Useful

*2025-11-29*

I like this app a lot it’s been a good study tool

### 5/5 — MY FAVORITE STUDY APP

*2025-11-24*

I quite literally would NEVER have made it through p school without this. People would have died. EMS ProtoQuiz you are my savior I love you

**Developer response:** Thank you! It’s a work in progress we are trying to make it better every day.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-11-05*

Impressive UI, accessible and usable

### 3/5 — Not Accurate

*2025-11-03*

It’s good start but you have to audit the questions. I found a bunch that were wrong and I don’t want to have to make the edits. Maybe write into your prompt to have another AI agent proofread before the questions are published.

**Developer response:** Yeah it’s a work in progress, the challenge is getting accuracy across the board for any protocol for any agency in the country. As you can imagine formats vary widely. We are working on improving the accuracy, especially as we get more protocols uploaded by folks we are able to use that data to get better. Unfortunately having another ai review the questions after would work for some systems but not for others, so we are figuring out a balance. Thanks for the feedback. If you have any other feedback please let us know at ProtoQuiz.com

### 5/5 — Seriously the best

*2025-11-03*

I mean this when I say it - there is no better app out there for p school students. I continue to be amazed at all the features this app has to offer and it has just enough gamification to keep me studying but not too much that I get annoyed. No pop up ads, a robust free option and a paid version that is actually worth the money. Pretty stoked about this

**Developer response:** Thank you! It’s a work in progress we are trying to make it better every day.

### 5/5 — 🩺🧑‍⚕️👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️🥼

*2025-10-31*

😊😊🙂😀

**Developer response:** Cryptic but sure thanks I guess

### 5/5 — Super fun scenarios and really helpful quiz app.

*2025-10-30*

I am in paramedic school right now and have to learn a set of protocols front to back and this is a great way to do it. The quizzes are super accurate to the protocol. It’s been helpful to double check the quiz questions with the actual protocol, which the app lets you do easily, and I’m still studying by comparing the questions to what I think is in the protocol.

I also really like the scenarios they are exciting.

This is kinda like using Quizlet to study the protocols but I don’t have to make the Quizlet myself it’s just already done and I can get right to studying.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.5.29 — 2026-08-22

Medicine mode is out of beta. Pathophysiology, evidence, and the why behind the call - same full access, no longer labeled beta.

A clearer Premium screen. It now says what ProtoQuiz actually is: every quiz, scenario, and drill built from your own agency's protocols. Tap "What's included" to see everything Premium covers.

More room for protocols. Premium now stores up to 15 protocols on your device, up from 10.

Fixes: upload limit messages now show the real reason instead of a generic cap warning.

### 2.5.28 — 2026-08-21

Fixed a bug where Premium subscribers could be shown an "upgrade to Premium" message when an upload was blocked. The app now shows the real reason.

### 2.5.27 — 2026-08-20

Uploads that finished now reach you.

- Interrupted uploads keep trying. If your protocol finished processing but the app closed or lost signal before it arrived, we only ever got one chance to deliver it — and usually missed. The app now keeps trying until it lands.
- Slow protocols aren't lost. Large protocols sometimes took longer than the app was willing to wait. Those were finishing the whole time; the app just stopped listening. It waits for them now.
- You're not charged for what you didn't get. An upload that never reached your phone used to count against your monthly limit anyway. If that happened to you, we've credited it back.

### 2.5.26 — 2026-08-17

No more repeating setup. If you already have a protocol loaded, ProtoQuiz stops walking you back through first-time setup.

One less thing to tap through during setup.

Faster to open Medicine Mode, plus fixes for uploads that fail partway and for the app starting up without a connection.

### 2.5.25 — 2026-08-15

Fixed a bug that could close the app during a Med Mastery session, especially on longer study runs.

Scanned protocols now work everywhere. If your agency only publishes scans, scenarios and algorithm quizzes can finally read them.

Also in this update:

- Interrupted uploads finish themselves. If the app closed mid-upload, we pick your protocol back up next time you open it instead of making you start over.
- A failed upload no longer strands setup. If your protocol didn't go through during first-time setup, you can keep going and add it later.
- Clearer answers when a protocol can't be read, so you know whether to try a different file or just carry on.
