Great help with protocols

Thanks for the good review man I really appreciate it. And yep you are spot on all the different parts are designed to make it useful so removing meds that are out of scope or that your agency doesn’t carry etc is one way to make it more user specific.
Must-have app for working EMTs and medics
We all know that the tests we passed to get our licenses did not prepare us for our local protocols. National licensing tests- which are difficult, high-stress tests- which even some of our smartest, most talented friends failed a couple of times before they passed- are designed to see if we understand this work and can do it well. Until we passed those licensing those tests, local protocols were lower priority.
Now that we’re licensed though- protocols are EVERYTHING: they are the law. Every detail must be memorized: each dosage, every intervention, where to find each drug in the drug box, etc… in order for us to have that knowledge instantly available to us when our patient is having an unpredictable emergency. So we prioritize: leave pediatric dosing aside for now, and use reference cards as needed on- scene, to ensure we get that perfectly correct. Memorize the procedures and doses we use the most often. Try to review our protocols often, until we have the “high acuity, low frequency” procedures and medications memorized.
It’s not easy to stay focused and read the protocols over and over for memorization in between calls. Actually I personally get sleepy if I spend more than 10-20 minutes just reading protocols.
Flashcard -style short questions about doses and procedure, at random, repeated a LOT- are a fun, easy, effective way to help memorize the details and keep that information fresh, long-term. I use this app to help me memorize doses and details. If I’m reviewing and my partner is willing, we may read a few of these out loud to test each other. In my case, I find myself reviewing my protocols more often, when I don’t understand an answer or if I answer it wrong. I also ask my more experienced partners about situations that have happened- so we have talked through the details before they happen. This app gives me a reason to think about the details before I am learning hands-on in the field.
A big challenge for me was uploading the specific protocols for this area. I needed to upload a single PDF, and my region has put each individual protocol online as its own pdf. I decided to put them all into a single pdf on my computer sometime. It’s a big project. I talked to some coworkers about the app and the pdf project. The guy who is in charge of training on my team created that pdf for me! I uploaded it and now I review several times per week. I also shared the full protocol pdf document with coworkers directly and shared the app on a couple of group chats. It’s good for me and our team if we review and discuss the laws and protocols. If you have trouble uploading your local protocols, ask around to see if someone else has it- and message this app’s developers too. If anyone else is already using your protocols on the app, they will know.
Good luck everyone, I hope your patient care is excellent and your shift is smooth. Stay safe out there 😊

I appreciate you so so so much thank you for the kind feedback. My goal is to help us all be better at our jobs. I feel like in EMS we are so used to helping others and rarely do we help ourselves. Reviews like this are motivating and inspiring. This is a one man operation I am doing my best. Thanks for the kind words

Excellent
Not Accurate
Response from developer
Yeah it’s a work in progress, the challenge is getting accuracy across the board for any protocol for any agency in the country. As you can imagine formats vary widely. We are working on improving the accuracy, especially as we get more protocols uploaded by folks we are able to use that data to get better. Unfortunately having another ai review the questions after would work for some systems but not for others, so we are figuring out a balance. Thanks for the feedback. If you have any other feedback please let us know at ProtoQuiz.com

Cryptic but sure thanks I guess
Super fun scenarios and really helpful quiz app.
I also really like the scenarios they are exciting.
This is kinda like using Quizlet to study the protocols but I don’t have to make the Quizlet myself it’s just already done and I can get right to studying.
