## What is Proximity Scanner?

The Proximity Scanner is intended for use by PG&E employees and contract-staff. The app uses your phone's GPS to verify WDR permit coverage and local environmentally sensitive areas, including contaminated sites, wetlands, and Areas of Special Biological Significance (ASBS).  It considers the extent of each Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) and contaminated sites in the RWQCB and Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) listed sites within PG&E’s service area in California.  The Proximity Scanner App is to be used in conjunction with the Vault Dewatering form as part of the vault dewatering procedure and helps PG&E Employees and Contractors determine if clean vault water may be discharged to land in certain locations after land owner approval is received and documented.

### 2.0 — 2021-07-08

This update includes a number of user interface enhancements:
1) A radio button was added to the search form.  This requires the user to select Vault, Gas, and Non-Gas.  Based on this selection and the user's location different criteria are used to determine the discharge message returned to the user and the layers displayed on the embedded Google map.  
2) A Google map was added to display the user's location and environmentally sensitive features.  The map is interactive and updated as the user searches, scrolls, and zooms.
3) Interactive popups were added to inform the user of required actions.  Messaging in prior versions of the app was entirely dependent on the user's location.  With this enhancement, messaging now takes into account the user's response to the popups.
4) The prior version of the app used an icon to display "zones of proximity".  The icon was dropped in favor of the map and more detailed messaging.
5) The support URL was updated from proximityscanner.com to proximityscan.com

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.
