## What is PSIA Alpine Level 1 Training?

This training application does two key things. First, it prompts you to study the right things and has the key knowledge embedded or linked. Second, it helps you to log your progress against the standards you need to meet in order to pass your exam.

This application started out as a paper logbook for PSIA Alpine Level 1 candidates. As an app, we have expanded the "logbook" functionality to include videos of some skills you will need to master. And, we have set up a "mock exam" where you can meet with your trainer, pretend to be in an exam and get scored like what might happen in an exam. All notes and scores are entered into the app by you, in discussion with your trainer. One of the best features is that instead of standing on a run trying to write notes, you can quickly talk into your phone.

## Key features

- Embedded knowledge and linked resources
- Progress logging against exam standards
- Video demonstrations of skills
- Mock exam simulation with scoring
- Voice-to-text note entry
- Trainer collaboration

### 5/5 — Richard Edwards, Alpine Instructor/trainer, Mt Rose Ski Tahoe

*2026-05-21*

In my 26 years as an Alpine instructor and 15 years as a trainer at Mt Rose Ski Tahoe this app is the best training tool I have seen for L1 candidates. All of the requirements (skiing, MA, teaching, tech knowledge, mock assessments) for L1 are contained in one app to benefit the candidates and trainers preparing the candidates for their L1 Assessment for PSIA certification. The app is easy to use and allows the candidates and trainer to smoothly navigate through the entire certification process for a successful outcome. I will use it and can’t recommend it more highly.
