What's New in Psylo

1.3.1

August 4, 2026

Psylo 1.3.1 focuses on strengthening privacy protections and improving reliability. Privacy • Fixed a potential IP leak through the WebTransport and WebAuthn (Passkeys) JavaScript APIs. These APIs are now disabled by default for all silos and can be re-enabled individually from the Advanced section of each silo. • Fixed a potential DNS leak caused by DNS prefetching via HTML link tags. DNS prefetching is now completely disabled. Improvements • Fixed an issue that could cause content filtering and ad blocking to work unreliably for some users. • Added an option to manually re-download content filters if one or more filters fail to download. • Updated the TLS certificates used for Psylo Server certificate pinning. • Minor wording improvements on the subscription screen.

User reviews

Expensive. Unethical developers.

I initially wrote a review giving it 3 stars because, despite the expensive price and annoying yellow block saying your subscription expired, you could still use the basic offline features (which don’t cost the devs any money) with your own proxy or none at all.

Days later they updated the app and completely blocked all basic features unless you pay $11/mo. There was no mention of this in the changelog. They basically tricked people into updating and took away 100% of the previously free features.

I’ll be deleting all of my comments on social media recommending this app for privacy, and I’ll mention that the developers are unethical and untrustworthy any time I see the app mentioned.

Response from developer

Hello. We’ve always been clear that Psylo requires a paid subscription. We’ve never advertised or offered a free tier, although it’s something we’re still considering for the future. The ability to continue using custom proxies after a subscription expired was a bug, not an intentional free-tier. That’s why Psylo displayed the yellow subscription expiry banner. This bug was fixed in version 1.3.0 along with many other issues and improvements. We don’t try to mislead or trick our users, so we don’t think it’s fair to characterize our actions as unethical. If you have concerns or questions about how Psylo works, we’re always happy to discuss them in good faith. Original reply: Hello! Thanks for downloading Psylo. We understand subscription pricing is an issue for many and we're discussing alternatives to offer Psylo at a cheaper price, though we still haven't settled on what that could look like. The pop up ads are driving me crazy!

There is a bud in this build as per customer service. They are working on it. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a message back in 9 mins-- the support is amazing so far. I am a paid subscriber.

Thanks a lot for using Psylo. The update that fixes your issue is now available. Feel free to reach out to support any time.

Great but way too expensive for me

I understand the need to cover the cost of proxies, and $70/yr isn’t too unreasonable for that. But I’m sure plenty of people like myself don’t need the proxies.

I already pay for a VPN and I’d generally prefer to be anonymized by sharing an IP with thousands of other users on a popular VPN, rather than using a relatively unique proxy endpoint.

The most useful features of this app for me are the silos to store website data in isolated containers and the ad blockers for popular sites. While the app is technically usable without a subscription if you don’t use a proxy, there’s a large yellow block taking up the top 25% of the screen that says “Subscription Expired.” It makes using the web pretty frustrating. You also cannot create any new containers without an active subscription.

I like the app and want to support the devs, but paying $10.99/mo or $70/yr is way too much, especially if I’m using it without the proxies at no marginal cost to the developers. I hope they’ll consider a much cheaper tier without proxy access that can still help fund updates and maintenance of ad/tracking filters. I’m quite poor but I value my privacy and I would pay $10 or $20/yr for the basic functionality of silos and ad-blocking.

Good but price isn’t worth it

I do thing tab isolation at this level is good privacy feature, but compared to other free privacy focused browsers I just can justify a subscription. I know stuff like this takes time which requires money but I’m not sure how many people out there are willing to pay for a browser, especially if they are satisfied with the level of privacy already offered by others. Overall I hope to see this grow, but just can see myself paying for it

No proxy subscription option, please

Love the silos. Would like to support and use the browser without being forced into a proxy subscription. Pricing without proxy as $10-20 one-time would be really nice, or a really low $1-2/mo.
