### 4/5 — Worth the Effort

*2025-05-27, version 3.3.26*

This is not the most intuitive app in the world. I’ve been using it a couple of years, and finally have it figured out. There is extensive documentation available, parts of which I had to read multiple times. This app is pretty complex, but provides every feature I can ever imagine needing. In the end, I’m glad I stuck with it. It makes following my exercise program sooo much easier, and my workout time is efficient because I don’t have to stop and refer to paper.

### 4/5 — I love it but

*2023-10-27, version 3.3.13*

If I barely touch the screen while exercising, the sound goes off and I have to shut down and restart the phone to get it back. ???

### 2/5 — Crashes Too Often

*2022-12-12, version 3.3.8*

If they can get it to stop crashing, it seemed like it would be helpful for coaching you through. Unluckily, it kept crashing while I was setting up my exercises and there were only 6 total.

### 4/5 — Great app but…

*2022-01-28, version 3.3.6*

This is a very flexible app. But I added a photo to an exercise and it got chopped off. I’m unable to find a way to delete the photo. If I try to add an additional photo, the app aborts.

### 4/5 — Worth the price

*2021-05-25, version 3.3.4*

This app is worth the price. It is a great app for helping time and count exercises. It allows for one to completely customize the timing of your exercise routine, input tools necessary to complete the exercises, and add pictures, instructions, and website links for each. It does the job of counting and timing movements so that you can concentrate on form. I love this app and the customizability. If you need equipment that is not listed in the app the developers are super responsive and will add it to the app for you (I believe they are changing it so that you can enter equipment on your own.) I like that I don’t have to log in or create an account to use it - just open the app and go, but I don’t think the app will sink with other devices (I could be wrong on that). I do love this app and use it regularly, but because it’s not 100% what I’d like it to be, therefore, I gave it only 4 stars, but it does what it claims to do very well. The following is a list of specific pros and cons: 1. All exercises must be entered in manually. Pro-great for customization, once exercises are entered you are good to go, you can modify all aspects of timing and counts as you get stronger or more familiar with routines. Con- its time consuming, it doesn’t come with any existing exercise except 3 examples, did I mention I find this very time consuming - (but people not so anal retentive can probably do it much quicker than I can.) 2. The app is not intuitive as I would like. Pro-it’s super easy to use once you set up your exercise and routines. Con-some aspects of the app like changing web links, what category it falls into -stretching vs strength, changing exercise from single count to changing sides, volume of app vs ambient music, and adding equipment take some time to figure out how to do, but it is possible to do and becomes more intuitive as you work with the app. 3. Pro-you can easily modify timing while performing exercise reps/sets - just double tap the screen. You can also see instructions by tapping the screen. 4. Pro-You can link websites, add instructions, and pictures. Con-you can not add videos from your photo library. 5. Con-I would like to link audio to exercises that I can set to play while performing exercises to remind me of form (like when in a class the instructor will verbally tell you to engage certain muscles, relax others, how to align yourself or remind you not to do common mistakes) and be able to turn it on or off as needed, but the app can’t do that. Pro-this probably doesn’t matter for most individuals. 6. Individual exercises and circuits/routines are under the same tab. Pro-easy to find any exercise/routine in one location. Con-it’s harder to easily distinguish between the two at a quick glance. (It would be nice if there was a more obvious distinguishing characteristics or if you could sort the list by type (exercise vs routine) or (stretch vs strength), etc. Finally, the last con is that because this app is not as intuitive as I’d like I know it has functions/abilities that I don’t know that it can do.

### 5/5 — Very Customizable

*2020-06-14, version 3.2.2*

It’s quite nice to be able to configure a Workout composed of multiple exercises. Then with a single touch, begin the workout and have voice guidance throughout.

I had been using a couple of other timer apps that are nowhere near as nice/customizable. I highly recommend the app and believe you will find it to be very good value.

I like the new subscription model. It gives me hope that the app will continue to receive future updates should that be necessary.

### 5/5 — A superb app

*2020-03-13*

This is one of the finest apps I’ve ever used.

Everything is customisable so that your physiotherapy or fitness programme is exactly to your needs and style.

It is “exactly what is says on the tin”

You do need to spend the 15 or so minutes doing the demo and training to understand and get the best use out of the app

It’s UI (user interface) is beautifully designed & I love the way it blends in with other apps such as having a phone call while still able to do the therapy exercises.

Following a major accident with 3 months in hospital, PT Timer is a gift from heaven.

Qi Analytics team, take a bow. You should be very proud of your product !

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your words! We truly appreciate them. Best of luck with your rehab, and don't hesitate to send us an email if you need help with PT Timer or if you have suggestions for improvements.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2019-12-28, version 3.1.7*

This is a great app— thank you! It’s really helped me keep up my PT on my own after my insurance stopped covering my PT appointments.

### 5/5 — Absolutely an excellent app

*2019-09-10, version 3.0.9*

I am using this to get back into shape after a back injury. I have my entire workout of stretching and core building exercises loaded into it. It’s so pleasant just gonna throw my mat down fire this thing up and do it until I’m done! I highly recommend it

### 4/5 — Great PT App

*2019-09-07, version 3.0.9*

I just started using it for rehab for Hip replacement. Great app to keep me on schedule, I don’t have to keep up with how long to do holds or Reps. Can’t wait to use it for regular workouts. I have told my PT person about this App.

### 5/5 — This app has improved my life

*2019-08-17, version 3.0.8*

I’ve been using this app everyday in my recovery from a serious car accident.
At first it helped me keep everything organized during a scary time. Now it helps me manage pain long term.

The latest update fixed a few small bugs and now it is better than ever!

### 5/5 — Really appreciate how much effort you are putting into this app

*2019-07-17, version 3.0.5*

I use the app for HIIT workouts and stretching

### 5/5 — My longest use app

*2019-07-14, version 3.0.4*

Update: Latest version fixed everything! Thank goodness! I use this app more than any other.

I've relied on this app for years to help me stay healthy. I had looked at many timers for stretches, floor exercises, weight lifting... and this is the perfect one! It has great audio & visual cues (most others are just too quiet). This will help both after injuries for PT and training for my 100 mile hikes. Well worth getting the paid version (though the free version was very good). - updates are improving it even more.

### 2/5 — New version still needs work?

*2019-06-23, version 3.0.1*

The new version of the app doesn’t seem to reliably play the audio cues no matter how I fiddle with the settings. It’s now basically useless except for the voice announcing the next exercise!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — DON’T BOTHER -Can’t test without a basic subscription

*2025-06-25, version 3.3.26*

1. ALL features are locked until you sign up. Can’t even see how it works.

2. Instructions are confusing, complicated.

3. Help pages links lead to UNSECURED WEBSITES.

### 1/5 — Not an intuitive interface.

*2025-04-02, version 3.3.24*

Extremely not intuitive interface with very little instructions

### 1/5 — Subscription required

*2022-07-06, version 3.3.7*

PT Timer has most of the features I need but I won’t use it because it’s a subscription. I’d gladly pay for this app once and for major upgrades. It’s offputting to have the 1st thing you see in the app is a license agreement. How silly. Despite the developer’s claim, they do track you. They send home your UUID.

The essential missing thing is the ability to add a photo for your PT exercise. My exercises should sync between all my devices, especially if folks pay a monthly fee. Exercises do export and import fine.

### 1/5 — PT Timer

*2019-06-21, version 3.0.1*

This hasn't been updated for years! It crashes all time. These types of apps should not be posted when those haven't touched in over YEARS?

### 1/5 — Horrible voice!

*2019-06-20, version 3.0.0*

Your new man speaking the word “Start” is awful. He sounds like a bad American actor trying to sound like a British Vincent Price in a horror movie, with a menacing snarl of “Start — or who knows what I’ll inflict on you!” and a growly hint of much too long of a smoking habit. And I have to listen to him doing this over and over and over again, for every repetition? BRING BACK THE OLD VOICES!

### 1/5 — N’est plus mis à jour

*2019-04-16, version 2.2.0*

N’est plus mis à jour. Plusieurs fonctionnalités ne marchent plus

### 1/5 — Full of Bugs

*2018-08-14, version 2.2.0*

Full of bugs and inconsistent features. The countdown timer at the end of a set often jumps straight to end without counting down! Adding photos to an exercise from your photo library almost always fails and leaves program in a hung state. The audio playback will sometimes die with the error “The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 560030580.) Reason:(null).” I’ve tried the app on multiple devices, done many reboots, updated iOS, etc. and the instability continues.

### 1/5 — Won't work after recent update!

*2012-10-18, version 1.1.1*

Ya great update! Now I'm sitting in physiotherapy counting aloud cause the $3.99 app I purchased keeps crashing cause you decided to update it!? Why you decided to update it I'll never know cause it was working fine!! "if it ain't broke don't fix it"!!

### 2/5 — It’s probably great if you can figure it out

*2026-07-16, version 3.3.29*

It’s probably wonderful if you can ever get it programmed. It’s garbage for me. I’ve been trying for way too long to get it to actually do what I want. I even paid for it hoping it would unlock an easier interface or something. Nope. I’m giving up on it at this point. Lots of people rave about it but I can’t get it to do anything.

### 2/5 — Too difficult to test

*2025-10-08, version 3.3.28*

Every action you try to test in limited mode reminds you you need to pay to preview how the app works. Not worth the effort when a simple habit tracker does the same job. 🙄

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best PT app!

*2026-07-21, version 3.3.29*

I’ve been enjoying PT Timer for over five years. It saves me time and keeps me on track for dozens of strength & stretch exercises. Thank you PTT folks!

### 5/5 — Great Customizable PT App!

*2026-07-18, version 3.3.29*

Simple yet incredibly customizable app for Physical Therapy exercises. Needed to do calf stretches 3x a day with increasing reps every 3 days. Able to customize down to time, rest in between reps and even set reminders for 3 times a day. If you play around with the app can get all the settings dialed in just takes a little work but well worth it. Great app for my needs!

### 5/5 — I love this app

*2025-08-04, version 3.3.27*

I’ve been using it for years and it is the reason I’ve ever done any of my physical therapy exercises. It’s not very intuitive to use, but for me that’s worth it because it’s so customizable. I wish I could export and import csv files so that I could do larger edits to my workouts on a computer in an easier format and then just pop it back into the app. I would pay more for that feature.

### 5/5 — Physical Therapy made easy!

*2024-08-19, version 3.3.18*

I have been using this app for years for stretching and exercises. I don’t have to remember the routines or the timing. Just start the app and follow the prompts. Makes daily stretching a habit not a chore.

### 5/5 — Best App for Physical Therapy

*2024-02-29, version 3.3.14*

Don’t let the bland icon fool you. The user interface and functionality of this app is impressive and simple. I have tried many timers before PT Timer and it’s by far the best. It’s a great motivational tool and an excellent way to focus on the exercise or stretch. I lay my iphone a few feet away and just follow my programmed routine. The developper is very responsive and helpful. My only complaint is with the icon….

2024 update to my review !
Still a great app with little competition in the App Store. Once you understand the basics to create a workout timer it’s unique in it’s ability to let you turn off your brain and just do your Physio with the audio cues.
The subscription pricing is beyond fair.
My only complaint is the dated icon and user interface.

### 5/5 — Thank you! Amazing app!

*2023-08-28, version 3.3.12*

Exactly what I was looking for! Helps me keep track of my exercise reps and I love the audio functions letting me know when it’s time to move on to the next rep. Thank you so much for creating this wonderful app!

### 5/5 — Extremely customizable!

*2023-03-28, version 3.3.11*

I have been able to use PT Timer to set up physical therapy, stretching and strength routines, and I feel like I’ve just scratched the surface to its fullest potential! I’m impressed how well thought out this app is, and if you can’t figure something out or think something’s not working correctly or have a feature wish, the developer answers just about immediately! I haven’t experienced customer support to this level in an app before. I also use PT Timer for my yoga asana practice and as a meditation timer. Even as a Pomodoro timer! The possibilities are endless.

### 5/5 — Best App for Exercise Routines

*2023-01-21, version 3.3.9*

I wish I had found this app years ago. I’ve historically had limited success with physical therapy or rehabilitation exercises because they’re boring, I procrastinate and run out of time, it feels overwhelming, I can’t keep track of when I did what, etc, etc. This app let me take out all the nonsense and just schedule something realistic and finite every day, and easily see when I’m done. I love the ability to send a report of my planned or actual exercises. The user interface is a little quirky at times with menus not exactly where I would expect them, but the learning curve is SO worth it.

The developer plans to add the ability to share your exercises and workouts with other people. When this is added, it will be even better. But I already love it so much I can’t give it less than 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Perfect if your PT requires holding multiple reps

*2021-12-17, version 3.3.6*

Therapy for my broken shoulder requires that I do ten reps, holding for 10 seconds, twice, for multiple exercises. I’m old. I can’t keep track of reps while also counting down seconds! And I’ll unconsciously cheat if I can; this stuff is painful.

The PT facility itself uses a wonderful, expensive app that shows the exercises…but does it have a count down with hold times? It does not. It just swings blithely through the exercises. Useless!!

It took me half a day to find an app that does what I want and this is it. It’s perfect. It was simple to set it up they way I wanted it. Get ready, start, hold…

Put it this way, I’m stingy as heck but didn’t hesitate to pay the small amount when my free trial ended. In fact, I may explore beyond my simple 10x10 setup.

### 5/5 — App: Best in Category - App Support: Professional & Prompt

*2021-07-18, version 3.3.4*

PT Timer provides a comprehensive and well organized exercise routine manager.

PT Timer is superior to all the other exercise apps I sampled.

I purchased and have been using PT Timer since 2017. Just now I had reason to ask a couple of questions about the app. The developer’s response to my query was timely and thorough, as was the reply to my follow up question.

PT Timer has proven to be one of the best iOS apps I have bought and used.
