## What is Pula HairPull?

Pula is a science-based support app for hair pulling, trichotillomania, and BFRBs.

If you struggle with urges, pulling episodes, shame, or the feeling of starting over again, Pula gives you a structured program to better understand your patterns and build practical skills for change.

The cycle of hair pulling: tension builds —> your hand starts searching —> pull —> relief —> regret.
Pula help you break the cycle.

We provide guided program with on-demand tools, rituals, and progress tracking. The program draws from science-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), habit-reversal principles, mindfulness, and compassionate self-reflection.

The guided program is organized into six sections:

Module 1: Build Your Foundation
Understand the hair-pulling cycle, clarify your motivation, and begin creating a personal path forward.

Module 2: Understand Urges and Triggers
Gain a deeper understanding of hair pulling and its causes, triggers, as well as the physical and emotional impact of hair pulling. Learn about science-based techniques to make progress in your healing journey.

Module 3: Interrupt the Pattern
Learn practical ways to notice urges earlier, create space before acting, and use replacement behaviors when pulling feels automatic.

Module 4: Respond to Slips with Compassion
Build healthier coping mechanisms, reduce shame, and learn how to recover from setbacks without giving up.

Module 5: Change the Thoughts Behind the Habit
Explore the beliefs, emotions, and inner stories that can keep the pulling cycle going, and practice responding in a new way.

Module 6: Build Long-Term Control
Strengthen the skills you’ve learned, create a personalized maintenance plan, and support lasting progress.

It is important to complete each module in order and give yourself time to practice the tools between lessons.

In addition to the guided program, Pula includes a Toolbox: a collection of easy-to-use, on-demand tools for different scenarios, triggers, and situations. You can open it anytime you need support in the moment.

The Toolbox includes:

• Urge tools for moments when you feel like pulling
• Trigger-based exercises for common situations and emotional states
• Awareness tools to help you recognize pulling patterns
• Audio rituals inspired by mindfulness, meditation, NLP-style reflection, and calming self-guided practice
• Quick reset exercises for difficult moments
• Progress support to help you notice wins and stay consistent

Pula also helps you track your progress gently, without shame. You can reflect on patterns, notice what is changing, and build a more supportive relationship with yourself as you move forward.

Whether you pull from your scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, or other areas, Pula is designed to help you understanding the urges, practicing new responses, so urges can become quieter and less frequent.

### 5/5 — This program helps.

*2026-08-19*

I originally wanted to write a bad review, but then I talked to the tech support and was able to switch to the Lifetime plan. I must say that it's much easier to follow the course having the physical book in your hands. I'm very serious about my trichotillomania treatment and now feel like I'm set for success. I like the app and hope it will help me overcome the old habit.

### 5/5 — Good overall.

*2026-08-12*

Many of the tools were new to me, and that's a plus. I liked the timer exercise where you "feel" the urge for 1 minute. At first I thought it was a waste of time, but it really worked. I usually get triggered on my laptop, and now I can sit through the urge and focus on my breathing. I'm so glad I learned to notice the moment when you can "choose." That was the hardest part, but once I committed, I felt the change. A tip from my therapist: hold ice cubes to reset. You're not alone. This helps.

### 4/5 — Seeing Progress

*2026-08-05*

After 20+ years of pulling hair, I thought I used everything. I have two books about trich conditoin, trich gloves, fidgets, ect. I was already tracking my pulls and behavior. But these were all temporary solutions. I'm glad I found this app! I started to see progress even from the first module. I feel like I know how to address the core problem.

### 5/5 — Did I find a cure for hair pulling?

*2026-07-29*

Overall I'm glad I bought this. The program is helpful and their approach makes it easy to follow. I'm not sure I noticed a real drop in my pulling. But my pulling is usually in cycles and I could go without pulling for a long time. Anyway, I continue going throught the program. It's not perfect, but I learned a lot of new things about this condition. I hope I'll see real change soon.

### 4/5 — Workbook and cards are not included in the monthly plan

*2026-07-22*

I purchased the app under the assumption that I will also get the book and cards that are part of the program. I came to realize that those things were only included in the Lifetime plan. I'm really happy with the program and see real reasalts. But I am dissapointed for not having the other items. What should I do? Can I change my subscription?

### 5/5 — Apoorva

*2026-07-15*

was going through the sessions and they were awesome. So easy to passively listen during work or taking the dog for a walk!

Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Amazing content

*2026-07-14*

The app was awesome. Easy and intuitive to use for me. I highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — I'm excited to start this program and share my story.

*2026-07-01*

I long ago gave up on my trichotillomania. I've had it since I was a child and have tried to stop it myself throughout my entire life. I've dedicated numerous therapy sessions to it, and still it made little to no difference when I had those "bad times."

What made me sign up and try this app was the 2nd free lesson. It said that "every time a behaviour is repeated, neuron paths become stronger." I hadn't thought about it this way. I let myself continue this behaviour, thinking that something would ultimately change in the future that would make me stop, but I was just reinforcing the same behavior over and over again. And as much as I thought I knew that it is incurable, I have to admit I don't know how to build the new neuron pathways anymore. What different repetition is there? I've been in the same cycle of feeling anxious – pulling hair – feeling guilty and stopping temporarily (because I’m feeling depressed).

I like how the audio said that we are not fighting the urge. I'm really excited for this program and hope it stands true to what it says it is. I'm excited to report about my future progress.
