### 4/5 — pretty good

*2026-06-30, version 1.3.5*

Seems to miss some runs in the history. Also a new day in MN starts at midnight central time, not eastern time. Time zone bugs…am I right?

### 3/5 — Annual stats

*2026-05-31, version 1.3.5*

Wish the stats were annual

### 2/5 — Service unstable in recent year or so

*2026-05-19, version 1.3.5*

Have been a customer for several years now, has been great for much of that. Recently though, the connectivity of my pump monitor to the remote service has been super spotty. Daily disconnections claiming my monitor lost its wifi connection. From monitoring my network traffic though, it’s clear that what’s actually happening is the service the monitor is talking to is either timing out or throwing errors, which causes the monitor to disconnect. Also confident this is not my wifi causing the issue because the app also acts slow when the monitor stops functioning (with my phone not on my home network of course). I’ve reached out to support, but never hear back.

I live in an area with a high water table; my sump pump runs consistently year round… so having a consistent monitoring service is super important to me.

Make the underlying service stable and this would be a 5 star product.

### 2/5 — Service unstable in recent year or so. Otherwise was great.

### 2/5 — Wifi problems

*2026-05-09, version 1.3.5*

Never could reconnect to my wifi

### 4/5 — Great, but not perfect…

*2026-04-17, version 1.3.5*

I love the product. Being able it monitor my sump pump is very important being I have a high water table 6 month of the year. Although this product works very well, I would like the company to add some important features to their app.
1) Allow the user to input the number of gallons per minute according to the pump specs. This would add better accuracy to the “gallons pumped” estimate.
2. Provide, as part of the application a line graph of the number of gallons pumped over a day, week and month period, for an accurate visual of volume over time.
3. Just as important, provide a line graft of the number of cycles per minute, hour, days, weeks, months, etc.
*I have a “Smart Oil” device that monitors the oil level of my tank that has some of these features in their app. that I find very useful. I feel that they would make great addition to your product. 👍

### 3/5 — Failed when I needed it the most

*2026-03-11, version 1.3.5*

I had an outlet pipe that was frozen with about 10’ of ice. My pump was running non stop for two days without being able to clear water. Normally this is an excessive runtime warning from PumpSpy, but I got nothing. No push notification, no SMS. I only got something when I opened the app and refreshed the pump history. It was a good thing I caught this when I did, my checking the pump myself, because this app did not do its job when I needed it the most. When I ended up catching this the water level was at a critical level and it resulted in a lot of chaos to fix the issue. Had I had warning, which I would have expected from this app, I would have spent a lot less money fixing the problem.

### 2/5 — Wifi

*2025-12-28, version 1.3.5*

Pumps will not stay connected to wifi.

### 1/5 — Lost connection

*2025-12-19, version 1.3.5*

Lost connection over a month ago and won’t reconnect. Been having issues for months now and it seems to have stopped working.

### 2/5 — The app needs work

*2025-12-05, version 1.3.5*

Enough said

### 1/5 — Does not connect

*2025-10-05, version 1.3.5*

Absolute junk with terrible tech support. This product fails to connect to internet. This product needs to be avoided

### 1/5 — Don’t buy a wifi sump pump from PumpSpy

*2025-09-13, version 1.3.5*

The Wi-Fi won’t stay connected for more than a few minutes before disconnecting again. I was told by customer service that it’s an issue that they’re updating in the app a few years ago. Apparently years later they’re still “working on an update”

### 4/5 — Great when connected but server issues

*2025-08-29, version 1.3.4*

From 27 July 2025 to 4 August 2025 I had 47 notices of lost communication with the server. My router showed from -38 to -49 db, so the outlet had a strong WiFi signal. I ordered a replacement outlet, but I will be returning it as I have only lost connection every 10 days or so since. This outlet has worked well for me for years, but server issues are making monitoring less reliable.

### 1/5 — Lost patience with the system not connecting

*2025-08-27, version 1.3.4*

I’ve called PumpSpy and get the same game- reset and try again, it must be your wifi. Well, for four years my prior PumpSpy worked perfectly fine and then… it did not. The replacement refuses to connect to anything after connecting one time for a brief moment. Support could not solve so now it is an expensive paperweight.

### 1/5 — Crazy alerts

*2025-08-17, version 1.3.4*

Worked perfectly for years, now started getting loss connections alerts every 1-2 hr none stop. - still doing it again. 6 lost signal alerts. Getting annoying.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No WiFi

*2026-06-14, version 1.3.5*

This software is not stable

### 1/5 — Connection

*2026-06-12, version 1.3.5*

Always disconnects and can not troubleshoot to reconnect. When we call for technical support we get automated message to leave a message. Sump pump spy has been down for over a month.

### 1/5 — Pump Spy Outlet constantly loses WiFi

*2026-05-24, version 1.3.5*

What’s the point of monitoring your pumps if the outlet won’t stay connected for more than a couple of days. It’s the only device on our network with this problem.

### 1/5 — Nice try

*2026-05-23, version 1.3.5*

I liked the device a lot until after only a couple years, the wifi started dropping out all the time. It’s not my router either. I’ve tried all kinds of different things. Cool device, doesn’t last. Too expensive to buy every other year. If you’re going to trust something to help protect your basement, it needs to be reliable, not cheap junk.

### 1/5 — Server problems

*2026-05-21, version 1.3.5*

Been a customer for 7-8 years. Great when it works. System has been down for last 2 days with no info at all. Have called and been told it’s a server problem again. Totally unacceptable! They need to update their server connection.

### 1/5 — Constantly drops connection to PumpSpy servers

*2026-05-18, version 1.3.5*

This app constantly cannot connect to Pump Spy servers. At least 5 times per day for hours at a time. Customer service is difficult to get a hold of but when I finally got a call back I was told they have server problems. I knew it wasn’t my side because my WiFi is solid and the Pumpspy device stays at a consistent -30 to -35dB WiFi signal strength according to the app and my local measurements. Please, fix your end to make this app and device trustworthy. Also - NO SMS with this app! Come on - it is 2026 and everyone but PumpSpy knows how to manage SMS!

### 1/5 — Pump Time History Wrong

*2026-04-25, version 1.3.5*

The pump time recorded in the history has a maximum time limit of approximately 60 seconds. If your pump runs longer it just keeps repeating 60 second intervals and gives an alarm for long pump runs. The whole reason a person would purchase this device is that they have significant amounts of sump water being pumped. So, yes I have multiple staged pumps and during the rainy spring season the primary pump runs MUCH longer than 60 seconds.
Please fix this.

### 1/5 — WiFi

*2026-03-28, version 1.3.5*

App wouldn’t connect to wifi eve after reaching out to customer support. They essentially gave up on trying to connect it.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-03-05, version 1.3.5*

You talk about a purple spy app not on the App Store WTF

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-02-18, version 1.3.5*

Very sporadic performance. The app shows activity very sporadically and there is NO support to trouble shoot.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice to have

*2026-07-10, version 1.3.5*

Peace of mind knowing sump pump is working and amount of water being dumped

### 5/5 — My Pump Spy

*2026-06-16, version 1.3.5*

I’ve been using mine in my leaky basement for the last 8 years with no problem. Only problem I ever had was a bad float switch. Replaced that with a solid state level switch.

### 5/5 — Love my Pump Spy

*2026-04-22, version 1.3.5*

Love it love it, it tells me when my sump runs and MOST IMPORTANT when it DOES Not. That is the MOST Important to me!!

### 5/5 — Continuing Excellent Operation

*2026-02-13, version 1.3.5*

Having our PumpSpy unit in place and functioning for more than two years now, we are fully satisfied with its performance, reliability, and quality. Only once in two plus years has the unit dropped WiFi connectivity which allows real-time monitoring on our multiple devices. A call to their support line produced a quick and easy remedy. Highly recommended product.

### 5/5 — Great idea, not always reliable

*2025-08-11, version 1.3.4*

UPDATE: It seems the connection issues have been resolved and I appreciate the response from the manufacturer reaching out. Between their fixing of the servers and me unplugging and plugging the unit back in, it seems to be working great.

I absolutely love the idea of this. Being able to monitor your sump pumps usage and potential problems is fantastic. The problem is, after owning this for six months, it appears to be not recording every time with consistent network connection issues. I’d love to give this five stars, but I have to give it two because constant connection issues for now. If this improves in the future, I will update my review.

### 5/5 — App

*2025-08-10, version 1.3.4*

Appears to be working much better like it should after sever fixes, I really like PumpSpy as monitoring tool, nothing better than

### 5/5 — Long time user

*2025-08-02, version 1.3.4*

I purchased the PumpSpy system four years ago because I am away from home during the winter and spring and wanted to be able to monitor my sump pump system while I am away. I live in Minnesota and after a typical winter with the snow melt by sump system runs fairly continuously over a two month period. I have nothing but positive things to say about the PumpSpy system because in one instance, we were without power for four days at a time when the sump pump was running every few minutes and the battery back up system kept my basement completely dry. It is something of an investment, but has been well worth it in my case.

### 5/5 — Amazing product every landlord or PM needs

*2025-07-21, version 1.3.4*

If you own property you arent in each day you need this software.

### 5/5 — Delivers the goods

*2025-07-08, version 1.3.4*

One week of experience and I am
Impressed. Pump is quiet, info on website lets me know what is going on and sleep easy!

### 5/5 — Know instantly when your pump fails

*2025-05-11, version 1.3.4*

Already saved me once when it alerted me my pump had been running continuously for 5 minutes!
