### 5/5 — Fantastische Ergänzung zur EP-Serie

*2026-08-16*

### 5/5 — Remarkable

*2026-08-10, version 1.5*

Very useful app for teen engineering fans. Please continue to develope this, i dont know what id do without you third party indepedants! The stem recording seems terrific. The kit builder another way to manage samples ….. a lot of work and thought has gone into making this app. Thankyou. Ed

### 5/5 — very useful!

*2026-08-09*

the ability to back up and restore individual projects on my phone is dope

**Developer response:** That’s great! Thank you for the review!

### 3/5 — Cool but unstable

*2026-08-09*

the app has a very nice look. However, on an ipad mini, the app crashes recurrently when listening and creating a set of samples. Too bad given it is the main feature. The price point is way too high for this level of quality.

**Developer response:** Hi Alex, I’m happy to have a look at the issues you’re having - please do report an issue straight from the app (Apple crash reports show that v1.5 has had only 1 crash from thousands of users so it’s difficult to pinpoint without more info from users’ side)! I hate bugs myself and would be more than happy to squash this one you’re experiencing! Also v1.6 (coming in the next few days) will come with a lot of new improvements, including stability, so I hope that you will not be noticing any of the issues any longer. Either way - happy to chat if you just drop me a support email!
Best,
Kristaps

### 5/5 — Freaking Awesome

*2026-08-06*

The perfect KOII companion. T.E. should hire this guy.

**Developer response:** Thanks hehe :) happy to hear you’re enjoying it !! 🥊

### 5/5 — Absolutely indispensable

*2026-08-06, version 1.5*

I use maybe 1/4 of the capabilities of this app currently, but I think its features may quickly replace a separate recorder app. The quick view and editing of the sample slots and banks provides such a massive quality of life upgrade to the ep133. Having a supplementary UI that lets me import samples I’ve created on the iPad is just so key for me. I recommend anyone who gets this, read through the update logs to get a real deep impression on all the potential available here. I have been using this so very often. I think this app has a place in any K.O. II workflow. I could go on in depth, but this was unsolicited and I want to get back to the music. Ciao.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-08-26

PunchKit 1.8 makes live performance safer to leave and easier to recover.

• Switch from MIDI Playground to REC to enable monitoring without losing active MIDI machines. Return to MIDI Playground to see the same playing state and stop it.
• ALL OFF now sends standard All Sound Off and All Notes Off messages across every MIDI channel, including notes left behind after navigation.
• Chord Machine adds explicit high and low chord registers, with normalized transport controls and clearer chord feedback.
• Devices with USB input but no separate stereo USB return can monitor through the built-in iPhone or iPad speaker. Route labels and a warning explain speaker output, feedback risk, and possible duplicate EP sound.
• Monitoring uses the iOS default output path more reliably, with louder output and a stable MON control while the audio route changes.
• Keep using the shared local sample shelf, MIDI Playground, recordings, takes, projects, and backups without an account or automatic upload.

PunchKit is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering.

### 1.7 — 2026-08-24

PunchKit 1.7 adds a new MIDI Playground and a safer, more transparent way to fill EP sample memory. It also brings the major performance and workflow improvements across the board.

• Open MIDI Playground from Kit Builder and layer independent Chords, Melody, and Bass machines on a connected EP.
• Start and stop each machine separately. A running part keeps playing while you open another machine or leave MIDI Playground.
• Use Auto Key in each tool header to follow a stable live-input key estimate, or set key, mode, and scale manually.
• Use PunchKit-owned selector panels for MIDI Playground presets and harmony controls; tap anywhere inside a bordered control to open it and choose an option.
• Shape chords with diatonic, borrowed, or chromatic harmony, extensions, compact two-column voicings, inversions, strum, humanization, randomness, velocity, and octave controls.
• Adjust chord feel with strum order, groove, timing, humanization, velocity, and release controls while the active chord machine is running.
• Lock arpeggios to exact EP MIDI clock with musical rates, triplets, swing, note count, gate, and pattern controls
• Build melody and bass phrases on 16-step note grids with note-name playhead feedback. Choose musical melody rates and swing, and transpose either phrase by octave without regenerating it.
• Drag a complete folder from Sample Shelf onto a Library slot to include every supported audio file in that folder and its subfolders.
• Review each file's path, duration, source size, and converted device size before uploading. Remove individual files from the pending upload without deleting them from the shelf.
• Edit samples one by one before upload to trim long files, change mono or stereo processing, preview effects, and bake the result.
• Capture beat-synced half- to eight-bar loops using MIDI, detected audio, or tap tempo, then scratch and perform them from the cassette.
• Browse backups offline, reconnect or hot-plug EPs more reliably, and move between device, backup, kit, recorder, and MIDI views more smoothly.

All Punch It processing, recordings, samples, projects, MIDI performance data, and backups remain local to PunchKit unless you explicitly choose an upload, share, report, or other user-initiated action.

PunchKit is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-10

PunchKit 1.6 turns the cassette and Punch It into a deeper live-performance instrument.

This latest build also makes everyday sessions more dependable: newly connected EP MIDI devices are detected more reliably, stale sample-folder permissions can be repaired, backup imports and previews hand audio over cleanly, tabs respond faster, and the REC sort menu stays stable.

• Open ∞ below FS to capture a seamless half-, one-, two-, four-, or eight-bar loop from live input (multi-in/out USB audio device required (such as the EP-136))
• Quantize capture to the next beat or bar, release immediately, on a beat, or at loop end, and choose pre- or post-FX capture
• Follow a selected CoreMIDI source, automatically choose a sole active MIDI clock, detect beats from audio, or set a tapped/manual tempo
• Keep a captured loop running at the last stable tempo if MIDI clock stops, then relock smoothly when clock returns
• Perform captured loops at ½×, 1×, or 2× tape varispeed, view the captured waveform and playhead, and continue scratching downstream on the cassette
• Send the final effected and tape-manipulated loop to a safe separate USB return and capture that same performance when REC is active
• Explore a dedicated Space page with Reverb, Dub, Granulator, Tape Echo, Chorus, Phaser, Spring, Shimmer, Resonator, Infinite, Gated Verb, and Wide
• Perform every Space effect in Direct mode or route one or more effects through the XY pad
• Push Reverb from compact reflections into long, modulated tails; bloom Shimmer into a dramatic octave cloud; and hold Infinite for sustained frozen ambience
• Build a 12-slot Custom page from any combination of Color, Motion, and Space effects, with a denser six-effect-wide editor tray
• Get smoother parameter movement and safer long feedback tails, including improved level consistency and protection against crackles, dropouts, and runaway values
• Browse one shared local sample shelf across Library, Projects, and Kit Builder, then drag sounds directly to device samples or pads
• Switch automatically into the connected EP workspace while keeping saved backups available to preview, share, or delete offline
• Monitor class-compliant USB audio through a lower-latency path, including interfaces and EP devices that expose only one stereo return
• Name takes faster with dice suggestions, date-stamped defaults, clearer save controls, and more reliable editing layouts
• Record, play, trim, process, and separate takes through supported audio-only routes without connecting an EP
• Use roomier landscape layouts, clearer sample play controls, wider backup controls, and more reliable search and menu interactions

All Punch It processing, recordings, samples, projects, and backups remain local to PunchKit. Effects never modify connected EP data unless you explicitly choose an upload or assignment action.

PunchKit is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering.

### 1.5 — 2026-08-04

PunchKit 1.5 expands the recorder into a more personal and responsive performance space.

• Create named, muted Pixel Background videos locally from clips in Photos, with trim, fill or fit, zoom, position, pixel size, contrast, saturation, and brightness controls
• Use the new Pro Background Studio to preview multiple saved clips, arrange and reorder a looping video chain, edit looks, and manage the local library
• Search saved takes by name; sort by date, name, size, or length; and filter takes by stem availability
• Toggle the live effect chain and choose a preset directly from the cassette, with full editing still available in Punch It
• Get steadier live tempo tracking, use the EP’s USB MIDI clock when available, and guide saved-take analysis with a tapped BPM
• Tune tape scrubbing with adjustable sensitivity, deadzone, smoothing, scratch-head gain, follow duration, and maximum rate
• See a concise What’s New screen once per release, then reopen it from Settings whenever you want
• Open the new Support PunchKit panel to leave a review, etc
• Improved Pixel Background editing and reordering, renamed-version baking, stem compatibility, live tape-mix alignment, monitoring, and opt-in issue diagnostics

Pixel Background processing and storage remain local to PunchKit. Backgrounds are visual-only and never modify recordings, projects, samples, or connected EP devices.

PunchKit is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering.

### 1.4 — 2026-07-25

PunchKit 1.4 expands recording, processing, live performance, and connected EP sample management.

• Enable RECORD WITH FX to capture through the complete effect chain
• Use RAW mode to adjust color profiles and effect parameters while performing with Punch It
• Perform with a virtual tape transport on saved takes or live input: drag backward or forward, choose HOLD, FOLLOW, or beat-aligned SYNC, and resync deliberately
• Monitor and process compatible USB audio live without starting a recording
• Stack Color and tempo-synced Motion effects in Direct, XY, Custom, or RAW layouts
• Use the redesigned cassette controls for monitoring, recording, playback, looping, Punch It, and full-screen tape performance

• Double-tap effect sliders to restore the active preset value
• Keep playback speed when switching presets and shape it with a centered logarithmic control
• Use compact, aligned effect controls across take editing, sample editing, and RAW mode

• Rearrange live EP pad assignments by dragging between pads, with confirmation before clearing an assignment or deleting its device sample
• Preview library samples by holding a row, select and review multiple samples before deletion, and search or refresh from the library toolbar
• Check available EP sample memory before uploads and show preparation, deletion, and refresh progress sooner
• Choose the MIDI channel used for pad-preview note messages

• Record from the built-in microphone or compatible USB audio, manage original and rendered take versions together, and follow live or saved-take tempo
• Use adaptive iPhone landscape and iPad layouts with clearer workspace switching, consistent margins, and a unified portrait pad surface

PunchKit Pro remains a one-time purchase with no subscription and supports Apple Family Sharing. Existing founding users receive Lifetime Pro automatically.

PunchKit is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering.
