## What is PunchTrack?

PunchTrack turns your iPhone into a coach for solo heavy-bag boxing. No wearables. No straps. No audio recording. Just place your phone near the bag and start training - the app listens for the percussive sound of every punch and counts them in real time.

TRAIN

- Free Training: open bag work with a live punch count, hits per minute, and a Normal / Strong / Power breakdown the moment you stop.
- Workouts: six guided routines from beginner to advanced, with timed rounds, bell cues, and spoken combination callouts ("jab, cross, hook") - or build your own custom rounds.
- Sound cues you can hear from across the gym: round bells, a ten-second clapper, a 3-2-1 back in, and spoken round changes and combos. Tune every sound and vibration in Sound & Haptics.
- Combo Trainer: the first set builds each combination one punch at a time, then you throw the whole combo, and it only moves on when it hears you land it. Boxing or Muay Thai, with elbows, knees and kicks.
- Sprint: max punches against the clock.
- Reaction: wait for the cue, then fire. Your reaction time in milliseconds, tracked over time.
- Boxing Basics: animated stance, guard, and first-punch lessons for new boxers, plus a full punch guide that adapts to your stance.
- Calibration: a quick guided test tunes detection to your room and bag. Gym mode holds up in loud gyms with music and other bags going; Classic is there if your setup prefers it.

COMPETE

- 1v1 Match: pass the phone and go round for round with a friend on the same device. Most hits takes the match.
- Leaderboards: weekly and all-time rankings, globally, by country, or among the people you follow.

SOCIAL

Create a free account to back up and sync your training, pick your handle, and your fighter card joins the community: username, flag, and headline stats, discoverable by other boxers. Follow friends, climb the boards, and share poster-grade session cards to your story. You stay in control - turn discoverability off anytime, age, weight, height and session sharing each have their own toggle (off by default), and you can block or report anyone.

PROGRESS

- Weekly activity rings track sessions, hits and minutes against goals you set.
- A clean dashboard charts punch volume, cadence and reaction trends, with a seven-day trend card and a training log calendar.
- Streaks and a trophy case of achievements keep you honest.
- Full session history with round splits and personal-best badges, split by training mode.
- Optional Apple Health export - workouts and estimated calories, write-only.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

- The microphone is a sensor, not a recorder: audio is analysed in memory and instantly discarded. Nothing is ever recorded, saved or uploaded.
- No account needed. As a guest, everything stays on your device and the app makes no network calls.
- With an account, your data syncs to the cloud for backup. Your fighter card (handle + headline stats) is discoverable so friends can find you - one tap turns it off. Sessions and body stats stay private until you opt in.
- No ads, no third-party analytics, no tracking. Delete your account and all cloud data anytime, right in the app.

ALSO IN THE BOX

- Trash Talk: go quiet on the bag and the app calls you out. On by default, off in one tap.
- Seven themes - Kinetic, Midnight, Forest and Mono in dark, Daylight, Coastal and Sand in light - and five app icons
- Eleven share card styles for your session posters
- Metric or imperial units
- Orthodox and southpaw support everywhere
- Local training reminders (daily nudge and Sunday recap)
- Backup file export for moving devices

REQUIREMENTS

- iPhone running iOS 16 or later
- A heavy bag, or any surface with a clean impact sound
- A spot for your phone within a few feet of the bag

Built for fighters by a fighter. Lace up.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-09-29

- Combo Trainer: the first set builds each combo step by step, then you throw the whole combo. Shorter default pause.
- New notifications bell: followers, your sessions and badges, and notes from CS42.
- Cleaner punch counting: 150 ms between hits by default.
- New Terms & Conditions.
- Bug fixes and improvements.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-24

HEAR THE ROUND, NOT THE PHONE

- Every change in a workout now has its own sound: one bell starts a round, a double bell ends it, a triple-beep clapper marks ten seconds left, and rest counts you back in with a 3-2-1.
- Spoken round announcements: "Round 2", "Last round", "Rest", "Cool down", "Workout complete".
- The glove-up countdown beeps at 3-2-1, so you can put your gloves on without watching the screen.
- Free Training rings a bell at start, a double bell at stop, and a chime on a personal best.
- New Sound & Haptics screen (Profile > Training): sound effects, combo callouts, round announcements, cue volume with previews, Trash Talk, vibration, and an optional pulse on every hit.
- Fixed: vibrations never fired during a session on a real phone. They do now.

A FASTER START

- The Train tab opens with a quick-start card that continues your last workout in one tap.
- Compete lives in the Train tab now, as "1v1", so every way to start a session is in one place. The tab bar is Train, Progress, Social and Profile.
- Profile settings are grouped into Training, Appearance, and Data & Privacy.
- A short launch animation on start (tap to skip).

LOOK

- Three new themes: Forest (deep pine and brushed gold), Mono (pure black and white) and Sand (warm sand and forest green). Seven in total, dark and light.
- Share cards redesigned: the hero number glows in the session colour, richer backgrounds, lit graph bars, and a gold PB chip on personal bests.
- 1v1 sessions are now cyan across the app.

FIXED

- Music no longer stops when you open Profile or its settings.
- The Sprint's start bell could count as a first hit.

Train hard.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-22

DETECTION YOU CAN SEE AND TUNE

- Detection Check before every guided workout: throw a few test punches, watch them count, and adjust the threshold, the time between punches, or the noise filter for that session. Finish the workout and PunchTrack asks whether to keep the changes as your defaults. Skip it or stop early and nothing changes.
- A new Calibration Guide walks through Sensor Calibration step by step. It shows once after this update and stays behind the "?" button on the calibration screen.
- Normal, Strong and Power now always sit at least 0.5 apart, so the power tiers can no longer collapse into one another.
- Combo Trainer's pause between steps now goes from 0.2 to 2 seconds.

LEARN

- Boxing Basics has a rebuilt boxer: real body proportions, a proper stance, and step-by-step jab, cross and hook animations, with a view from above for the cross and hooks so you can see the hips and feet turn. Orthodox and southpaw.
- The same animations now play in the Punch Guide, on the cards and on each punch's page.

SOCIAL

- Instagram and TikTok handles now show on the fighter cards you open. A new "Share social links" switch in Profile controls whether yours are shown.

FIXED

- Punch Challenge saved only its first result, and Reaction drills could file a duplicate record.
- Edit Profile could silently drop unsaved changes.
- Apple Health workouts were logged with the wrong start time.
- Streaks broke in time zones where daylight saving changes at midnight.
- Deleted sessions no longer come back after a cloud sync.
- A damaged backup file could crash the app at launch. Imports are now validated.
- Many smaller fixes across calibration, sessions and sync.

Train hard.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-17

DETECTION FIXES

- Fixed a precision bug in the audio filter that added a small random error to every measured hit. Filtering now runs in double precision.
- The noise filter's frequency edges are now exact: a 40-200 Hz range means exactly that. The old presets were effectively listening to a narrower band than they said.

DETECTION ENHANCEMENTS

- Custom frequency range in Sensor Calibration: drag the thud band and the slap band yourself, or start from a preset for heavy bag, water bag, Muay Thai bag, double-end bag, or mitts and pads.
- The live spectrum now uses a log scale with both bands overlaid, so you can see where your bag's sound lands and set the range by eye.
- New detection log shows each swing with the engine's verdict - counted, unconfirmed, too long, or on the beat - so you can see why a hit was missed or a noise was counted.
- Clipping warning when the phone sits too close to the bag.
- Time Between Punches now ranges from 85 to 400 ms, with a 100 ms default.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-13

COMBO TRAINER

A new ladder drill that builds combinations one punch at a time. Step one is the jab. Land it and step two is the jab-cross. Keep landing and the ladder keeps growing - the drill only advances when the mic hears the right number of hits, so you can't outrun it. Set your own pause between steps, from half a second to five, and the app calls the next combo while you reset.

MUAY THAI MODE

Twenty new combinations built on elbows, knees and kicks, with spoken callouts for every strike. Switch the Combo Trainer to Muay Thai and work the whole arsenal.

GYM MODE DETECTION

A rebuilt detector for loud rooms. It listens across two frequency bands and only counts a hit when both agree, learns your room's noise floor while you train, and locks onto the music's beat so it can ignore it. If your bag suited the old detector better, Classic is one tap away in Sensor Calibration.

A NEW LOOK

- Weekly activity rings on the Train tab - sessions, hits and minutes, each with its own goal
- Redesigned session cards with round splits, pace, and personal-best badges
- A trends card putting your last seven days against your four-week average
- A training log calendar showing every day you put work in
- Four themes: Kinetic and Midnight for dark, Daylight and Coastal for light

FIXED

- Lifetime stats no longer stop counting at 50 sessions. Totals, achievements and trained time now cover your whole history, and a cloud sync fills back in any sessions trimmed from the device.
- Session history now keeps 500 sessions instead of 50.

Train hard.
